The Most Important Movement for Walking and Posture. In this video I go over a compound movement of the body that is used in proper posture and walking technique. This movement engages all elements of your core, hips, knees, and ankles to produce fluid, well aligned, low impact walking. If the movement is done incorrectly, it has a negative impact on the way we stand and the way we walk. If you can get this one movement down, it will help correct the most common walking problems and posture issues. It will also help improve your balance.

The Ebook helps you follow along with the course with written lessons and pictures.
In the Walking Code, this movement is call LIFT.
LIFT combines engagement of hip flexion, lower ab action, and upper ab action on the same side of the body. This combination of core movements results in extension of the knee and dorsiflexion of the ankle on the same side. The result is a lifting action that we use to stand up straight or in the swing through phase of walking. If we use this movement on the wrong side during the swing through in walking, it results in Duck Feet, one of the most common walking problems.
Learning this technique will make it much easier to understand all the other information taught on this channel. Benefits will include. Improved Posture. Improved Balance. More efficient walking. Lower impact walking. More confidence when you walk. Avoid leaning forward when you walk,

Thank you. One suggestion - please use the mirroring s/w for left-right reference to match with viewer's POV ; or may be mention it with a hand gesture when you're referring to a side
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 2 месяца назад
Good suggestion. So, you mean if I am doing something on the right leg, have people mirror me on their left leg, Zumba style? If that is what you mean, I think I will try that.

@@Stevie671 What is the confusing part?
@Stevie671
@Stevie671 2 месяца назад
I think we have learnt to compensate for the mirror image discrepancy. Side image and rear views(walking away) are fine of course. And I've noticed I initiate a movement from a stationary position with my left leg.I always lead with the left. Am I nitpicking? Maybe it's a good idea to point to your right when you refer to it.
@ToddMartinMD

@@Stevie671 Most people have a favored side because they have developed body memory for a certain sequence of movements. That is normal. I think mirror imaging might me unnecessary since we are doing very slow demonstrations. It isn't like trying to follow a dance choreography in mirror image.

Any tips on foot, hip & glute activation I’m having problems with knowing what to activate when I move my feet.. watching video right now
@ToddMartinMD

Look up glute action with walking and you will find my videos. I have multiple of glute and hip action. Look up walking footwork to see videos on foot action. I am planning another follow up on that.

Sir do we think of behind leg more than front leg when we walk.......or suggest what to think or where to feel when walk ...... ...because one RU-vidr says this rehab and revive name Channel
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 2 месяца назад
We should think of the behind leg (the one the weight is on) once we begin the swing phase. This is the Lift action powered by the standing leg. This is similar to what Rehab and Revive says. If you think about the swing leg, you will end up duck footed.

Don’t repeat anything if you get pain. Make sure to practice anything slowly. It should feel smooth and not forced. You may want to try my Core Balance and Mobility exercise routine for practice and see if you can do that as a warm up to get the core coordinated. You should find it if you just do a search for that title.
