My number one is Natalie Anderson pretending she accidentally voted for Alec instead of Reed. No one realized she intended to betray her alliance and her gameplay was a joy to watch!
You mean Keith* That was amazing move because, it gave Jon and Jac less power since they were closer to Alec. And allowed her to keep a Challenge beast preventing Jon from winning immunity. She successfully utilised Keith in the Baylor vote too. Hands down one of the best moves!
Swirlss321 keith didnt participate in the baylor blindside. Whatever keith did it didnt matter. It would be 2 - 2 - 1, 2 Jac (cancelled by nat) 2 baylor and 1 whoever keither voted
Yul is my all time favorite survivor. While Cook Islands brought many people their favorite survivors, you can tell by episode 2 the way Yul is working everyone is a straight shot to a million dollars. He was the most threatening nonthreatening person to play the game IMO. Plus nearly everyone asking Yul if it was OK to vote for this person or that person was hilarious.
It's not on the show, but Yul once said post-game that he exaggerated his stomach illness in the game to make himself less of a challenge threat, so everyone was focusing on Ozzy.
@@AllRequired I recently rewatched samoa and I'm convinced Natalie is Really underrated. She was perfectly fine letting Russell and the producers to some extent think she was just a dumb blonde ...
@@coalhouse1981 ikr. Plus the fact that she was able make a whole team turn on each other at the merge is something that she deserves a lot more credit for
Yes. Natalie’s tribe was down 8-4 in #’s 7-5 w/ Shambo at the merge & she was responsible for the other tribe voting out Eric on the first post merge vote. Eric was on the opposing majority tribe. That was her huge move of the game. Of course Russell outplayed Natalie in most other fazes of the game. Russell just did a horrible job with jury management & owning the game he played at final 3.
Jeremy perfecting the meat shield strategy in Second Chance comes to mind as an amazing strategy that allowed him to maneuver through the game as a threat while not standing out as the biggest threat in the game.
You have to include Sarah in Game Changers: using Sierras info about the Legacy Advantage, voting Sierra out and still giving the advantage to Sarah. Something that is undervalued is that Sarah would’ve gone home in the Final 6 had not everyone but Cirie play an idol.
KamusiWolfie But it was Sarah’s social game. Culpepper was with Sierra from the start, but she chose to tell Sarah instead. I think Sarah’s social ingenuity to get close with a top dog of an alliance made it a subtle yet effective move in her long game. I don’t think someone like Tai or Michaela would’ve been able to pull this off
Kind of different, but Sandra in pearl islands also hid in bushes to listen to conversations, and convinced someone to flip because of it! It was just not shown very much
I don't think it'll be that easy though especially since Probst has confirmed Parvati to be on this cast. Honestly though it'll be interesting to see a Yul vs Parvati showdown happen just because of how dominantly they won in their seasons and how much they remember about each from their time on Cook Islands
I’m happy that you included Danni’s strategy because it is the smartest thing that anyone has ever done in the game of survivor. I’m honestly surprised that no one has ever replicated that strategy before.
It’s was most definitely not the smartest thing ever there is no proof it worked and maybe others have tried it but since it didn’t work for them we don’t hear about them
The ideal thing for the Three Amigos to do with their idols would have been to not tell anyone about the second one and vote for three different people. That way the majority alliance would have been forced to crack and vote out one of their own.
May I add that Danni in Guatemala played an incredible and underrated game? I just watched all 14 episodes of Guatemala in 17 hours and I am blown away by her game and how little attention she gets :"O
+Wanderlust William I Think Danni Was A Recipient of The Luck That Sandra 'The Queen' Benefited From. Boatwright's Competitor's on Survivor Guatemala, Had As Jonny Fairplay Said of Sandra Diaz - Twine "Bigger Fish To Fry" If Danni Boatwright's Game Was So 'Incredible' Why Did She Give Away The Secret of The "Old School Player's" Having An Alliance In A Conversation With Ben Driebergen And Ethan Zohn on Season 40. Usually the people who give more confessionals are the people with more attention. If you dont have much film of yourself then the editing team cant really help with that. Danni's strategy was literally "Say as little info as possible."
I love Richard giving up immunity in the final 3 because he knew both Kelly and Rudy would bring him to the end and this way he doesn't have to choose and, thus, look bad to the person he send to the jury.
ava yes but that’s not hers originally her truly gamechanging move was when she orchestrated the split vote, put herself on the Keith side of the split, and then flipped, saving Keith, then cried all night pretending that she didn’t mean to vote Keith to stay. Also, ‘John play your idol’
alec zavala CBS All Access has every season but it's a monthly subscription. If you don't want to pay for that there are a few seasons on RU-vid that are only slightly adjusted with its speed.
The buddy system was also brilliant to obtain final jury votes. Since no one of zapatera got to know any of the other players, they were inclined to vote for rob.
@@zoroark65 it's always possible that Rob could have convinced the jury to change their mind at FTC, but from what I've heard you are right that the jury wouldn't have given Rob the win against anyone other than Natalie and Phillip.
Honestly as someone who works in entertainment: they'd never let me on a show like survivor or amazing race. The camera angles alone give a way so much if you know what to look for. And as a person who's life is spent on the backstage side...it's literally my job to manage all of that. So I'd just inadvertently get helped by production. They'd hate filming me.
Danni was definitely underrated! I feel like that whole season was really. It was a great season and I really enjoyed it. I’m also surprised we haven’t seen any of those players return for any seasons other then Steph whom cane for HvsV. It was generally a great cast in my opinion 🙌🏼
I agree, Danni played the UTR game brilliantly and it's what won her the game compared to Stephenie who spent her time making too many enemies rather than doing what Danni did. I also think that there are plenty of people from Guatemala who need to return, with Brian and Rafe being at the top of my list. Did you know that Amy was almost on Heroes vs Villains as well? I think that's the closest that we've had to having one of the original Guatemala cast return. I'm glad that Danni is going to change that since as much as I didn't want s40 to be all winners, I'm glad it is since we get to see Danni again and I think she's one of the real early contenders to win.
Abby Rose oh my goodness no I didn’t know she was supposed to return for HvsV that would have been great. I liked her. Yeah I am not thrilled about this S40 winner season but I have to agree with you that Danni has a real shot of winning! I’m excited to see her.
Mckinly Goodman i was only iffy about it because there were plenty of other players who didnt win that id rather see again, but im hyped for yul, danni, michele, natalie and wendell. and yeah, it says that amy was contacted on the casting part of the heroes vs villains page but i dont remember if it said why she wasnt put on or not.
I mean I think the bigger issue for Yul is he doesn’t have Becky.... and also won’t be playing against mostly bad players. The super idol was pretty nice, but without it I still think he goes to the end....
It always makes me so happy to see when you posted a video. Thanks for making such awesome content. This is a little off-topic but do you have any idea if there is a “best time” to apply to survivor? I’ve always heard August but don’t really know if anyone has done the research on when really works best.
Creator, you may not read this but I have not watched survivor in many many years (maybe around the time New Zealand made a series and it sucked really bad, or I could be thinking treasure island) but your videos have reminded me how great the show is so I'm using the archive of your uploads to catch myself up on whats gone on. Thank you very much for all your hours of hard work putting these videos together.
Thanks for covering Danni and her strategy. I have often wondered if the castaways could pick up any tells from production during the confessionals or by listening to Jeff at the Tribal Council of what might be going on with other contestants. Danni says that she could pick up clues during the interviews and was guarded with her strategy. It certainly might be in the way things get edited but it has often appeared that the way Jeff conducts the Tribal, the questions he ask, situations that he addresses and the castaways that he calls on or identifies that it would give clues if something is going on.
Nobody was excited for Millennials vs Gen X because they were looking forward to Game Changers. This gives me hope for Island of the Idols. It may surprise us and have an amazing cast with unpredictable strategizing.
they do tend to run together - I LOL when someone says "I'm not going to tell anyone that I work as a ____" - dude - nobody cares....they see your game not what you do
I swear, I thought of the same idea about using hidden idols and stating at tribal counsel the the votes have been randomized before seeing it happen in the show, and was super bummed when Malcolm missed an opportunity to cause some chaos in the apposing alliance.
Rob is a top player but there is no doubt he got a little lucky starting on the tribe filled with goats who pretty much never plotted against him and let him win they were so bad at the game. Russell got put on the team where 75% of them straight up said "He is a returning player and we know he is good so we need him gone right away." Not trying to compare the two players but more the circumstance of the tribes they were put on - Rob's plan worked so well because his tribe was one of the worst ever.
My understanding of the prisoner's dilemma was that the two prisoners would both snitch, and serve more time (usually 2 years), then if they had both kept their word and stayed silent (1 year). In my classes it was used to show the value of contracts, or some other kind of commitment insurance, which the prisoners obviously do not have. So, since one can flip (to go free), it's assumed that they will, and so the other prisoner must as well (or serve 3 years), to in the end, serve the inefficient 2. I'm not sure how applicable it is to your analogy, except at the end where Natalie snitching on Ashley is the right move (and Ashley remaining silent is not).
You're right. I think I'm squeezing a square peg into a slightly square-ish hole, trying to make it fit. I'm not sure it's a 1:1 analogy, though perhaps there's similar elements.
I picked mike Holloway as my player while watching the season on tv from day 1 and whenever you put clips of him in your videos it makes me happy because he’s the only one I’ve done that with in my 12 years of watching the show.
Boston Rob executed 2 of the closest thing to flawless performances the game has seen. He won one, Amber the other, but both games he was completely dominant wire to wire.
I still feel like Kim has a better chance than him, however, in S40. I feel like she’ll be undervalued as a competitor since no one really likes One World yet she played probably the most dominant game of Survivor ever seen
@@TheMurrmursonbottle rob wont ever win again, no one trusts him and hes too big a target. I still think his all stars performance is a masterpiece. But that's just me, to be honest, one world was so forgettable I dont remember much about her game.
Tynan Patrick All stars is actually one of the seasons I haven’t seen in full, but I know from clips that he played one of the best games of Survivor out there, even if the social dynamics were different back then. Unfortunately, having that huge reputation is gonna be such a setback - him, Tony, Sandra, probably Parvati, etc. just can’t win
@@TheMurrmursonbottle for sure. They're the "return players" among the return players. Huge targets right away, even if they go for a while, their chances of making it even close to the final are basically nil.
I think (well, hope) that the older players will know this, and will get out the players who are more adept at idol use before they get to run with the idols. Plus, I predict that a lot of the younger players won't have the same connections--less time in the community, a few don't have a spouse or children.
Wendell is a great challenge player but I think where the older winners really excel is with their social game. I think an older winner will take it. I'm sure they have all been paying close attention to how the game has changed since S20/past 10 years.
Flying under the radar refers to the fact that it’s essentially waves flying above obstruction so it only works above certain heights, therefore if you fly close to the ground a radar can’t pick up on your presence. It’s like you’re invisible.
My favorite is Parvati, but not in her winning season: her double idol play was ingenious. No one was voting for Russel, they thought he had the idol, she gave up immunity so people think she also has an idol and gave immunity to Danielle. They tried to have her flush the idol and she still used it for Sandra and Jerri, making sure that the villains will rule the game
The Danni "I was deliberately not giving information in my confessionals" post-season talk come across like a lot of revisionist history by Danni. "My confessiobals were boring and didn't include any strategy? Um ... that was my plan all a long! Yeah, that's it!"
Not really. The cast members have confirmed that they were planning on voting for Aurora regardless, so Devens' "move" had no actual effect on the game.
Would have loved to see Yul play without his overpowered idol though. In my opinion, it's a lot easier to socially appease the jury when you literally cannot be voted off at that point no matter what.
Boston Rob's buddy system was ingenious, but also kind of just weaponizing emotionally manipulative abuse tactics on his teammates lol. Has there ever been a survivor villain who just came out and said, "Look. Emotional abuse and manipulation tactics work. I hate it as much as you do, but it's just a fact that they're effective. So I've been reading up on ways abusers control victims, the psychology behind it, how groups and populations are controlled etc. And my strategy is to essentially weaponize the abuse tactics I've been reading about."
Curious to see how Yul performs a second time around, especially in modern Survivor. Fun Fact. Yul has been vulnerable of being voted off a grand total of ZERO tribal councils. That's not to say he isn't a good player. But no one wanted to take a crack at him after they all knew he had the idol, even though the majority could have easily split the votes between him and Becky, flushed his idol and taken out his best ally in one fell swoop.
@@danad.a.6386 Not necessarily, because by that point, Yul had a tight alliance of 4. So say Jonathan voted with the Raros the night of the final nine. Yul gets 5 out of 9 votes, but he uses his idol and Nate still goes. Now you are looking at a 4-4 deadlock between the Aitus and the Raros. Adam wins immunity and this time the Aitu four votes for Jonathan this time. Do you honestly think Parvati and or Candice would risk going to Rocks for Jonathan?
What should make the list is Sandra trying to tell the heroes to not trust Russell. She tried very hard on that and when it didn’t work used it to sway the jury in the end and getting all the heroes votes to win
Okay but with that last one, here's how you improve it even further: 1. Make a fake idol 2. Use this strategy holding the fake idol 3. Don't play the fake idol 4. Make sure to use the fake idol later to show them the icing on the cake
Almost every winner in s40 has been in a possession of an idol whether they played it correctly or not, on their seasons. The only people that havent had idols are Sarah (she did have a legacy adv, and an extra vote), Ethan, Danni, Denise, Michele, and Amber and I'm almost positive that's it. It didn't even exist for 3 of them. My point? I found it interesting, idk.
@@abduugas I'd never forget the queen! ;D She found an idol in heroes vs villains and played it on the night rupert got voted out (final 6 or 7). She didn't need it, but Rupert blew up her plans to Russell so she voted him out. Sass. Lol
Boston Rob didn't pull a move. He had a whole ass planned strategy and he was playing like a freaking mafia boss. We all knew he would win from the first episode.
I love your channel!! With the amount of effort and work you put into every video you make you deserve wayy more subs! keep up the good work your narrations and season breakdowns are incredible. Could you do Amazing Race? I am extremely curious to hear your opinion on Team Fun :)
