The upcoming "Late Night with the Devil" looks very interesting. In this video we'll look at what information we can get out of the trailers. #horror sources dailydead.com/sxsw-2023-inter... hiff.org/events/latenightwith...
Yeah he made the deal with devil to make him he most famous tv show host, by allowing him to talk and interview the devil lol Basically sold his own soul for fame. Pretty much sums up the entire movie.
“Orange and brown set, which looked terrible.” I am old enough to remember this era, and even as a kid who grew up with it I thought the orange, browns, avocado green and mustard yellow colors of the time were hideous. Glad the 80s when I was a tween and teen.
I ADORED those colours and they’re well known as excellent colors to put together….ya know far as color theory ….I’m gonna guess you know nothing about that. I’m sure the butt fugly pastels then neon clashing color pairings in the 80s were just o so better. 😂🙄🤡 Also this was designed to OBVIOUSLY look like the Dick Cavett show set design….weird if you’re actually a kid in the 70s you didn’t pick up on that. It’s the 1st thing I noticed & I’m a kid from the 70s.
@@johnb.shakoor2352 It really depends on what you're into! It's not super scary like a typical horror movie, but it does have a creepy vibe and builds up to an exciting climax. Also, there are some really funny moments throughout the film that had everyone in the theater laughing. It's definitely one of my favorite films from the festival.
David Dastmalchian was also in Suicide Squad (the second one - the good one) as Polka dot man a surprisingly great character and he did incredibly well in. Although brief he was also in Boogeyman and he was very good in that too. He is a very talented actor.
He has a lot of secondary/background roles in some huge productions. Dark Knight, Oppenheimer, Dunes, Blade Runner 2049, so on. He's definitely overdue for some leads (though he has some good one, but not too mainstream).
Ive been watching French trailers of films set in Paris for the last 30 minutes. I was just beginning to feel smarter and somewhat cultured when youtube said 'THATS ENOUGH drama revolving around 'conversation and food' and recommended me this .....the French almost got me ,but I was saved -thank you
@@jamiewilshaw3595 it’s streaming on Shudder and I just thought it was an old ghost hunting show, it’s so boring and dry like old exposé should be but it’s a great sense of false security that when things happen it was fantastic.
@@ellis7622 yeah and if you watch it, they play it extremely straight, it’s perfectly dry and boring to the point where that ending where all hell breaks loose is “chef’s kiss”.
Watched it last night and the atmosphere and acting and cinematography stole the show. Felt like I was really watching a late night show with the devil
this was the first trailer I've see in a while that gripped me the ENTIRE time. I've been considering a subscription with Shudder, so I think this will be my tipping point!
David Dashmalchian is the quintessential character actor. I've seen him in various projects but the role that made me remember his name is the character of The Polkadot Man from James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. I have no doubt with this film he will have the recognition that he deserves.
I can remember watching the Don Lane Show. He was very popular here in Australia. I remember he had Yuri Geller on and also the couple from the Amityville Horror house. He did lots of unusual interviews.
I love the look of the movie, if it isn't a very good film, I'll just be happy with the 70's style and colours. But I have a feeling, this movie will be entertaining. Thanks for giving this some attention. I had no idea about this one
Watched this last night with my lady and this movie was great! Had low expectations and only knew a little about it going into the movie. When we left the theater we both were extremely pleased with our experience. The ending is something to witness with your own eyes without knowing what’s coming! It was fantastic! Makes you feel like you are actually apart of the audience.
David Dastmalchian is one of the best actors of this era in my opinion. I truly hope he gets more projects like this in the future. Edit: across all cultures and mythologies, owls are a harbinger for change......
Kind of different but if you are excited about this I recommend the WKNU Halloween Special and the Out There Halloween Mega Tape. They are horror-comedies but similar in the way that they are supposed to be tapes of Halloween specials on tv in the 80's and 90's. They are really authentic.
I think Jack is desperate but I dont think Jack made a deal but rather his manager did ( bald guy in devil horns ) That was my first thought watching this trailer
Yea the devil thing is their for a reason. Someone made a deal and it could of been Jack to make the show more successful and have better ratings. And it costed him his wife (the bald lady) who I believe is his wife. That’s what I was thinking
YES we need more movies where the plot happens due to legitimate character flaws, and not just because the writers have to make the characters dumb for one scene. I really appreciated that the dad in sinister was shown to be arrogant and selfish through THE NARRATIVE, this movie looks similar!
I like David, he is a unique actor that has a range most actors don't have with a deeply expressive face. He seems perfectly cast in this role as the kind of lead but I think he will be as the backup lead to the show. I'm very interested in this movie, it almost reminds me of the theatre scene from my favorite book, The Master & Margaritta.
Can we get a review of the NEON film that will come out? It's called immaculate. Since you made the video about Long Legs I've been really intrigued about NEON movies.
honestly the trailer stuck with me and im very exited i even had a dream about the film it was wild lol im definetly expecting it to be exploitative in a way that makes you scared while still unable to look away just never letting go and it gives me vibes of the fmv game immortality the same way that would become horrific at times i wont lie i hope theres more tv footage than cinematic footage just to hone in that this is "real"
the trailer was awsome. not gunna lie at first i thought it was a american dad reference. they have an haloween episode where stan find a haunted tv and goes into it and its like a hell version of a late night talk show that he cant leave. and the host is a demon.
Has this been done before? Maybe as a youtube short film, or a foreign film first? I could swear I've seen a recap video covering this exact premise. I remember in the end the devil actually manifests himself and somehow uses the broadcast to possess the viewing audience, or escape into the world, something crazy like that.
There's a story of an old British broadcast that this reminds me of, and I won't be surprised if it's inspired by the events. Essentially a regular broadcast station played a hoax where they did a real (looking) feature on a paranormal haunted home. Started off kooky and quickly went horrific and had (fake) callers calling in saying the stuff was happening in their homes too now due to broadcast. It went as horrible as you can imagine a pre internet stunt like this going and was never shown again. I am scratching my brain raw to remember the name of it and if I do I will edit and share here.
The British program was Ghostwatch. It was Screen 2 play, but it had a children's TV presenter in the cast, and they promoted it on Saturday morning childrens tv, so it had a lot of kids watching a post watershed program. The part of the main host was played by Michael Parkinson, who the person on the right of the Don Lane still shot at the 4:28 min point in this video.
I've been losing interest in horror films due to the repetitive elements (eg. Remakes, sequels after sequels, unnecessarily disturbing scenes for shock factor, etc). But this trailer has intrigued me. Looking forward to seeing this film!
what is the best platform to watch a huge catalogue of horror movie ?I live in France and it's tough to deal with all these beautiful movies that will never get on big screen here... :(
Great review and commentary. I'm looking forward to this one. Just one suggestion for you, though. Light yourself. That half shadow is a great idea for atmosphere but it's not one that works well in general. It's very jarring when it goes from well lit clips to you in half shadow and is very distracting. Honestly the only time I can think of it working well was in Halloween when Michael appears in the shadowed side of the screen behind Laurie. Doesn't work for this kind of thing.
I like the actor David Dastmalchian I think his name is - usually good in all his roles. It looks an interesting film. Will have to give it a check. Cheers. 👍
4:14 What?! No way! I grew up with those motifs! There was a lot of '70s holdover in the '80s, plus a resurgence of '70s styles in the '90s. You might think it looks hideous by today's "standards," but to us, it was "earthy" and "warm." The parents of us Gen-Xers would have experienced it in its heyday. 7:47 The owl is associated with the Illuminati.
He was also in the ant man movies where he improvised the baba yaga song when seeing the character “ghost”, which was one of the funniest bits in the movie.
I've always thought that David Dastmalchian would be a fantastic fit for the lead role of the travelling salesman in a reworking of Steven Spielberg's early hit DUEL. x
Does anyone know what platform it will be streaming and when? I heard Shudder some time in April but I wanted something more definitive about dates and places. Thanks!
Sounds a LOT like the 1992 BBC mockumentary Ghostwatch, where a crew goes to a haunted house as a live outside and studio broadcast. That said, I'm still looking forward to watching this when it comes out!
When movies have a premise and setting like this they either knock it out of the park with an amazing story and really pull it off or they're a one-trick-pony gimmick that really sucks. There's rarely any middle ground. I'm excited for it and hope it's as great as the potential I see (Coherence, The Exorcist, Evil Dead, Primer, etc.)
I love the difference in generational TV show references- “like ’Jimmy Fallon’ and ‘Jimmy Kimmel’. For old folks like me, we automatically see this in the vein of a late night show like ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.’
Saw it last night, it was really really good, establishes great atmosphere from the very beginning with a sense of dread that builds with every passing moment, the special make up effects were top notch as well as the visual effects although which made it feel out of place for a 70s horoor movies vibe, I would have preffered they stuck to 100% Practical effects like in The Exorcist nothing fancy mainly depended on sound design to establish the mood of dread, but that's a minor negative since it is a modern movie so they decided to use some flashier effects mainly toward the end, a Solid 8 out of 10 for me, hope there is an extended version of it, the Girl Lilly was fantastic she already has that Manson Family Girl Creepy Vibe about her that gets worse and worse as the movie progresses and while everyone is serious around her she has a smile from ear to ear, it will stream in less than a month on April 19th Shudder
I'm going to have a hard time paying attention to the plot when I'm busy being revolted by the 1970s colour palette (which is actually accurate). I remember ogevernment buildings in Toronto that hadn't been updated in twenty years looking like that. Mustard yellow, burnt orange, brick red and poo brown. Ugh.
