It was almost around the same time Dele Giwa was assassinayted. I was about ten at the time. He was said to have this girl among the many women he was dating who conceived and had a child for him. Some said the girl was later picked up and murdered by the police. Don't know how true this is. By name, she was said to be Florence. I myself was also disappointed over the way he was caught! I mean, looking at how great and untouchable he was considered to be. Monday osumbo was said to be very temperamental and shot on impulse even without Anini's approval. It was said that he himself found the police so detestable. In any case, every robber has a day of reckoning. I grew up in Benin city. I remember the Anini saga. Cops would run away from checkpoints when they heard Anini was operating nearby. Anini was not a cruel man but he was a bad ass criminal and he was good at it. He was also really good at outmaneuvering the cops. His weakness was womanizing. There are claims that one of his women tipped off the cops. He reigned for over a year if I can recall. Monday Osunbor was the killer but Anini was the boss.

He join the prince gang, and this also was not his rain of terror. His main rain of terror was when he started operating with his main gang. Even if he uses black magic, there are other factors that made him successful in hus operations. In summary, Womanising was the major cause of his arrest and death.

Bro, you largely distorted facts here. Anini had been very active way before the arrest and execution of Kingsley and other gang members. Anini terrorized Bendel state to as far as Ibadan and environs. Anini at some point turned against his sponsors in the police force. Police in Bendel state stopped wearing their uniforms because they were terrified of Anini. Even police officer Iyamu who was his chief sponsor in the police ranks resorted to wearing mufti because Anini declared a war against the Police. The attack on Mr Akagbosu, the then Bendel state commissioner of police was not random. It was calculated. He was target and shot in a moving vehicle at the ring road round about. The billet hit him in the mouth for which he was flown abroad for medical attention. The time frame you mentioned was the time for when Anini declared war against the Nigerian police force. George Iyamu had a house that shared boundary with the house we were living in at that time. What made Anini more dangerous was that he reigned in a military dispensation. He was quite terrifying that the then head of state of Nigeria and his federal executive council convened a meeting to discuss Anini. A joint task force of all the Nigerian security agencies were mandated to put an end to Anini's reign of terror. It took such high profile security operation to get Anini. And also note, that Anini was sold out by an insider (rumored to be his then pregnant girlfriend). Are you kidding me??? Anini owned the gang. Osunbor was one of his boys. Perhaps you would also say that Anini was better than Kingsley his former leader because he could drive cars better 😂😂. Anini and his gang turned against the entire police force.
