Over 20 years old I still love this movie and cry at the end

One of my all time favourite movies! May not be brilliantly accurate by any historical terms, but everything about it, from cast to score to cinematography was sublime!

Defeats 6 guys by himself, yells, "Are you not entertained?" Throws down sword and spits. One of the best scenes ever.

Massive credit to the blood coming from the mask camera shot. Literally half a second of the movie but such an iconic part.

The fact he uses his shield for both offense and defence is what sets this apart for most fights in my opinion. Its such a small detail but makes all the difference.

Timeless classic for sure. This movie will be awesome 50 yrs from now.

This movie was Crowe at his Zenith...it had to be a lot of work and training to do this film...never mind it doesn't follow history very well...Ceasar saying Comodus was "not a moral man".....oh boy, some inventive writing there..but well acted by Richard Harris. The entire cast was excellent...the story...the pathos..the musical score..makes this a classic I still enjoy....an uncredited but beautiful character was the white horse Maximus rode..just exquisite!!

The cast of charachters and the way they acted is another thing. 💙💚❤

I give this a 10. It gets into the inner psyche of man. It's a total man movie. It's how a man should conduct himself as a true leader.

Russell Crowe should have won Oscar

So much of this film requires praise. The editing, unique view angles, the writing, the scenarios, the text delivery - just awesome.

Never tired of watching this movie again and again ❤

7:00 Lol I just now noticed that hans zimmer reused a riff he composed for this scene a few years later in pirates of the Caribbean. Cadence is a bit slower and has different embellishments but tell me you dont here a chunk of the pirates theme in there.

Great movie

If you want to see something really close to how gladiators fought,look no further than the fight between Spartacus ( Kirk Douglas) and Draba ( Woody Strode). Spartacus 1960. Clothing,manner of fighting,on point.

No commentary.. sigh.. finally

Too bad they didn't have cameras in Rome back then. I bet they had some great fights back on the day.

You never get bored watching this movie, the only thing that spoils it is during maximus's death scene the film crew have built a little mound for crowe's head to rest on

So the long story short-these gladiator fights are like WWE nowdays, but a little bit more action lol.

6:16 - gas balloon in the chariot. Nitrogen for speed? 😁

Imagine the announcer would have taken just five seconds longer to announce the chariots, which were already charging towards - at that point - CLOSED gates...

Chariot fight is the most well made fight scwnw of all.. he marshalls his troupe against all odds and comes out victorious!
