I grew up near LA as a Lakers fan. When I went to University of Illinois in 2012-2015, I always told my collegiate peers (most were Bulls fans), “Lakers in 2020”. My only rationale was that Lakers tend to have a dynasty every 20 years or so. Miraculously, Lebron and AD led the Lakers to a title in 2020.

The craziest Basketball prediction I ever had was UVA losing to the 16th seed. And only reason I had a feeling that would happen was because in the previous year I felt that I were always barely coming away with a W despite being a relatively high seed coupled with the fact that I only really followed march madness and not the regular college season.

He scored 2, at the 90’, and 91’ minute. For perspective, at the 90th minute, the odds of Real Madrid winning were 1 in 100. Not only did I call that. But I called the exact player to do it for both goals. My friend couldn’t believe it, and me neither…

This one is not basketball but i predicted in the 80th minute of a Liverpool game that the only way they score is if the goalkeeper comes to try and score from a corner kick in added time because he will be completely unguarded. Right on cue, Allison Becker (no it's not a girls team) comes in 90+ minutes to the 16-yard box on a corner kick, is left completely unguarded and scores a striker-like header to win Liverpool the game just seconds later. My wife watched the match with me and just looked at me and asked if it was a recorded game even though she damn well knew it was live!

Y’all gotta think about the odds of getting the finals prediction right again. It’s not ASTRONOMICAL. It’s unlikely, but not insane. Saying raps in 6 only requires you to predict one team: 1/30. And then how many games to win the finals. You have four outcomes for that: 1/4. So, the raps in 6 prediction has a maximum unlikelihood of 1/120. Without assuming a basic level of NBA knowledge. That’s already not insane. However, we could reduce the first probability further. Just by looking at espn stats you could probably rule out 10-15 teams from any semblance of legitimate contention. Assuming the latter, we take 1/15 for that probability. Additionally, in making a prediction , there is a far greater likelihood that an NBA finals ends in 6 or 7 games than 4 or 5. So we reduce that probability to a coin flip: 1/2. This gives us a 1/30 probability; a 3.33% chance. There’s a higher chance that you roll green in roulette. So, it’s a cool prediction to have made, but it’s not really that unlikely when you boil it down.
