Re oxalates. Personally, I know two people close to me who suddenly had kidney stones after just a couple of weeks of “green smoothie” kick. That’s enough for me to avoid them in large amounts
I drank green smoothies for years. Mainly vegetarian diet through my 50s and into my 60s. Lower back pain initiated an MRI and visit to urologist. A 2+ cm kidney stone sitting in a pocket in my kidney. Unfortunately, the doctor told me it was not the source of my pain (and to see a spinal specialist). He said this little benign stone would just be a harmless passenger for my lifetime. No instruction to drop oxalates, or any diet adjustment at all. 😢 It wasn't until I became a tortoise keeper and learned of oxalate containing foods being the cause of stones in tortoises. (My torts refused spinach, BTW while devouring safer greens such as arugula and endive. Why don't we have these instincts?!) I am still dealing with this stone, which has been shown to have broken in 2 and fragments passed, painfully, sending me for more diagnostics. I am Trying to dissolve it naturally with citrus and chancaPiedra. Tea. My bloodwork has never shown any kidney dysfunction.
You may use the case in Thailand. About a half of the Buddhist monks there are obese , which is caused by their sugary drinks. They are not allowed to eat after 12pm and they found this alternative sugary drinks. The fructose content must be contributing to their metabolic syndrome
