I only saw the MP44 on the ground ONCE in MWR. In cod 4 (the original), I used to always use this gun. I'm the type of person that gravitates to the more underused guns.

So the reason that the MP-44 is named that way is because when it was first developed, Hitler was HEAVILY against the development of any new rifles. He only wanted "machine pistols" or smg's. on accident, a nazi general asked hitler for more of these new rifles. Upon discovering that there was a rifle being produced without his knowledge, he was furious. He shot the rifle and instantly fell in love with it. Naming it the sturmgewehr, meaning storm weapon or storm rifle in German. Just a little history for you.

matt D - It was meant to be named MP-43 initially, but the weapon's development was slow because of the war, so it ended up being officially released some time early in 1944 as the MP-44.. A few early models was released in 1943 under the MP-43 name however, but the design of the weapon got refined through the revisions (MP-43 > MP-44 > StG-44) And unlike the version found here, the real StG-44 was highly accurate, and had a characteristic "chugga-chugga" sound when fired.. Some facts: The StG-44's design inspired Mikhail Kalashnikov to make the AK-47, and much later on gave inspirations to Eugene Stoner's M16. The StG-44 was the first weapon which the term "assault rifle" was used for The StG-44 was made to be compact as an SMG, with the power and accuracy of a normal rifle The ammo used in the StG-44 was called 7.92x33 kurz (short) But it was pretty close to the 7.62x39 found in the AK-47 in terms of power.. A slightly wider and heavier bullet, but with less speed than the 7.62, due to the shorter length of the casing, so the difference sort of balanced out

It was orginally named MP44 (maschinenpistole 44) probably for reason that other thinks it's just another sub machine gun like MP38 or MP40. Hiter personally named the MP44 into STG 44 (sturmgewehr). Which was and is more accurate name for the weapon since it's not maschinenpistole after all xD

Some Isis groups or shit still use the STG / MP44 to this day. The gun is still used in some very rare cases. Its the first assault rifle ever created to function properly and its a very reliable gun.

Skorpion or MP44. I remember playing the original COD4 and running around with the thing trying to unlock all the attachments for all the guns, and no one else was using the Skorpion. Now, it's a piece of junk, I admit, but it was one of those "it's MY piece of junk" things.

During WWII, Hitler demanded that the german weapons engineers create submachine guns rather as he believed that they were generally better than rifles. As such, when they created the mp/stg44, which was technically not a submachine gun, they named it the mp44, implying it was a submachine gun. Later, when Hitler found out, he liked the design so much he allowed production to continue under a more accurate name, the stg44.

The StG44 is frequently called MP44/MP43, because Hitler didn't want a full auto rifle with an intermediate cartrige, so the engineers just called it Maschinenpistole. Later on Hitler did accept the Sturm Gewehr name though.

Currently going through the challenges and its miserable. I can do well with it but maps like overgrown or bloc don't lend themselves kindly to short to mid range weapons and I just get outgunned by everyone

hey Nero I am not sure about this at all but while using the mp44 I have had a good amount of clutch close range hip fire moments with it, makes me wonder if it does have a hidden good hip fire (without steady aim). In terms of effective range I would say within 15-20 feet. compared to other assault rifles I wonder which is best in a hip fire situation.

the reason for the the differant names is in ww2 hitler didnt like the idea of a medium sized cartridge so the engineers named it mp44 or machine pistol 44 until hitler shot it relized how useful it was then gave it the name stg-44.

You got the part about the STG and MP part right. Originally it was even called the mp43 and eventually called the mp44 which is the model shown in game. It was designated the mp series that German submachine guns used because the designers showed it to Hitler and he originally disliked the gun and concept of an assault rifle, the designers then put it into production designated as an mp series sliding under Hitlers radar going to the Eastern front. After Hitler saw the weapon in combat he finally saw its usefulness on the battlefield and had it renamed to the sturmgewhr 44 (STG44) closely translated to storm weapon.

The hidden OP of the MP44 was the recoil kick which had more chance of kicking body shots into headshots, so at a range it was actually pretty op as you'd get a bullet from body to the head in like 3 or 4 bullets (given you aim at the body).

There are people that say the Stg44 was used in the design of the Ak47. They work differently and Kalashnikov denied having used that for anything but there are historians saying he used that to design that ak platform. In the game the Stg44 has no attachments and is a weird outlier because of that.

M249 saw and m60 these guns seemed to be more popular back in the original game but I have yet to see people using them in normal games I've see a decent amount of people using the rpd but haven't see any other lmg's being used.

The German government was reluctant to make a full auto rifle, but the manufacturers designated the stg44 as a smg at first under the name mp44, a successor to the mp40, after the German government saw the mp44 and it's potential ( it was one of the first assault rifles ever made ), they decided to keep it and rebrand it properly as a rifle

The MP44, is what you could say the 3rd iteration of the development of the STG44, initially it was called the MKB 42, which essentially means machine carbine. As people have already mentioned, due to Hitler's denial of rifle/carbine development, it was done secretly with the loophole of labeling it as a smg, during this section of development, models were labelled as MP43 and MP44, until final development was allowed and it then being named the STG44.

I look at it as an assault rifle collectible like the commander desert eagle. A way to have bragging rights because of your rank. And a homage or remembrance of older Call of duty's and to say COD was moving on so it would've be fun to have. But we might get another WW2 cod since everyone misses that setting.

I don’t see many players using the Mini Uzi which makes me prideful because I sometimes get headshots all the way across the Bog map with the Uzi unmodified. No kits. No attachments. Just plain old Uzi with bandolier, stopping power, and deep impact. I get tons of kills with the Mini Uzi

Skorpion is definitely the most underused weapon. I used to use the MP44 in hardcore SnD back in Cod4, but I havent tried it out in this game yet.

I could be wrong, but I've heard that in WW2, Hitler favored the production of SMGs over making new rifles, so the makers of the gun named it the MP44 so they could get the deal with the military and get it mass-produced. Hitler ended up liking the gun, and since it was not an SMG, they renamed to STG44.

The MP designation was used when the Germans were originally designing the STG. Adolf Hitler did not want a full powered cartridge, he wanted to exploit submachine guns. By calling in a machine pistol they were allowed to work on the designs, and upon seeing the firearm in action Hitler himself coined the phrase assault rifle.

The 5 years I spent playing COD4, the most underused weapon kit I found was the G36c w/ acog sight. Only saw this combination once in 5 years. I however, found the likelyhood of spotting one interesting, so I used it several times, especially in hardcore mode. It sucks however in normal mode. It was actually a lot of fun to use a combination you hardly never saw, with everyone running around with M16's.

yeah, Been using this thing for an entire prestiege, currently 5 kills off the gold camo. Its legit only good in hardcore, and even then, you want to be playing ream smart to get around its shortcomings.

I heard a different explanation for the Sturmgewehr having two names. And that is that Hitler was himself a soldier during the first world war and had very peculiar ideas on how soldiers ought to be equipped. He didn't like the brand new concept of an 'assault rifle' and didn't think his troops needed it. But his generals saw the potential of the STG44 and re-named it MP44 to make it appear in the paperwork to look like just another SMG. They tried to sneak it into service right under Hitler's nose. And for the most part, they were successful in doing so.

Oh, you can choose to carry a weapon over with you when you prestige in mwr? well that's nice. Good thing the m16 isn't unlocked at a high level, otherwise I'd imagine everyone would of wasted their unlock token on it.
