I really like the idea of some omnitrix aliens being basically useless. Like, there's a million species in that thing, no way every single one of them can be used in combat.
@@michaelthatoker7125 wdym bad example? His power is just to fold up into a ball, that's it. Same with terraspin his wind powers was just to get around
Its always been funny to me how perfectly disfunctional this villain squad is. Dr. Psychobos is pretty smart but he constantly underestimates Ben because he's too distracted by trying to murk Azmuth, and thus gets his ass kicked and makes Khyber mad. Khyber is a great hunter(allegedly) but constantly ignores Azmuth in favor of murking Ben, which both pisses off Psychobos and leaves Khyber open to getting outsmarted by Azmuth in showdown part 1. And somehow Malware, despite being actually insane, is the only one who can split his focus between his enemies, and not let his ego get in the way. All three have massive superiority complexes, but Malware is the only one who doesnt let it actively screw himself over, and only really loses because of something that he never could have acounted for. BUT. Despite being the most rational of the three somehow, and probably being the most suited to be team leader, hes also smart enough to know that Khyber and Psychobos are too disfunctional to let directly involve with his plans. So when the chips are down he just does his own thing. They really got sibling energy. Psychobos is the eldest child, entittled as hell and constantly putting everyoen down, Khyber is the hot headed young one, and Malware is the middle child and sick of their BS.
That’s why I love it when the bad guys team up, because it can be really fun to see them interact with each other. Would they along? Would they be inches from killing each other? It’s always fun to find out.
explaining away bens random personality changes through him constantly switching back and forth between aliens with different levels of intelligence and going senile might be the most ben 10 thing ive seen this year
Now I'm thinking about a bit where brainstorm plans out like 100 different scenarios to stop a villain only for Ben to act out scenario #37 when it's actually scenario #72, even down to the one-liners just making no sense
“The lame aliens weren’t originally supposed to come back” Honestly, that was the impression I got in this episode. I was VERY surprised that they actually kept getting used.
They probably do, pretty sure they bloody hate each other like the plague. MAYBE thers some form of mutual respect between Malware and Psychoboss but fore Kiber this is pure business and he hates his current bosses
I do like how this episode showcases that not every alien that Ben transforms into has a combative purpose. If the Omnitrix's intention is to bring beings of different worlds closer, while also serving as a sort of Noah's Ark, then it would make sense that it contains a number of aliens like Walkatrout or The Worst, that aren't that powerful or special. Plus, Pyronite Psyphon's design is just metal as Hell! The flaming skull look reminds me a lot of Ghost Rider.
I feel like the reboot tried recreating that with Kevin's hotshot. But as much as I love Kevin's designs in the reboot, his heatbladt doesn't look as cool.
Any time I see the Ben vs Liam fight in this episode my mind just repeats Kuro’s “He immediately beats the shit out of him with his genetic superiority”. Also are we just gonna ignore Kelen’s casual use of “Humungacock”
I love Walkatrout as a concept. Not every alien has to have powers, but he stil does have some special things (can breathe in both air and water, and is very slippery and hard to grab). I like to imagine someone getting Charlie Brown'd, running up to kick him but he slips out of the way and they fall on their back.
@@MojusPrime Don't feel too bad about it, it _is_ one of the four main instincts/identifications. Also known as the 4Fs. Fight, Flight, Food, Fuck. They are not in that order, many species put Flight first. "Civilized" Humans are a little twisted in that our Fight and Flight responses are very weak despite us still being very murderous monkeys, and also that Fuck comes up much more often with _things, not just creatures,_ that are not viable with us. There are people that find _standalone clothes_ sexier than someone sexy wearing clothes, and don't even get me started on the weirdness that is how some people are asexual. Humanity is crazy, every last one of us is _wrong_ somewhere on a level between genetic and final expression.
I think it's so cool how out of the 4 "useless" aliens, 2 of them ended up being really strong later on when Ben took the time to understand what they do.
I believe Derrick said Walkatrout does have a power, but it’s only useful really situationally. Basically, he has infinite stamina and can walk forever without getting tired.
I feel like despite how Ben had to train, being able to see how he knows his alien's weaknesses is a nice touch. Since he would have wanted to figure out how to counter enemies that are of the same species of his transformations. Which makes me think that prior to Kevin leaving with Gwen at the start of Omniverse, he was helping Ben with that. Of course, I can just see there being a moment where Kevin just steals Ship from Julie due to how the little guy is the closest Mechamorph and says that he got permission to use him as a test dummy.
this point comes later too in one Servantis episode, Ben is fighting hybrid Kevin and Kevin had Crashopper's legs, Ben kicks one of the leg as he knows Crashopper's weakness they really put a lot of thought in making Ben efficient here
Mental whiplash is actually an interesting concept. since the Omnitrix has a sentience requirement and since non-sentient creatures can have negative effects on your mind it makes sense that different levels of intellect could too. going hyper-smart to Rath, then wildmutt then back to ben actually might be a sort of whiplash.
He did the same thing in "Secret of the Omnitrix" after the SDM timer was started. Ben turned into Stinkfly, then Wildmutt, then Diamondhead, and finally Grey Matter. Didn't seem to bother him too much.
Small thing I wanted to point out: I like to think that Blukic and Driba restored the "data dump" feature the AF Omnitrix had. Notice how unlike with the others, Ben immediately knows how to use Kickin Hawk's powers, and almost every new alien after this is a similar case other than kind of Gutrot.
I feel like there are a lot of Omniverse episodes that feel like they were meant to be structured as Ben relearning an old lessen but through the way the conflict is resolved and the story progresses, ends up conveying that Ben was right all along at that everyone else needed to trust that Ben knew what he was doing. While I doubt that is the intended take away for these episodes I feel like that type of subversion works really well with Ben's characterization in Omniverse (as an experienced/deservedly cocky hero) and at least for me treating these episodes as if Rook (or some other character) was the one who was supposed to learn a lesson helps me enjoy these episodes more.
That's what I thought; this episode was not about Ben learning a lesson, but rather Rook (and other characters who didn't meet Ben) learning more about Ben than the other way around.
@@AmitCinematicUniverse When it's Kuro and Ash in a breakdown review, it genuinely feels like two mates in college geeking out over their favourite show. When it's Kuro and Kellen, it's kind of like you and your buddy getting drunk on a weekend at home and watching something together and just laughing at everything that happens on screen because it's just that much funnier. Love both the vibes, would kill for all 3 of them in an episode breakdown
If you look it up The Worst's listed power is just "invulnerability." It doesn't elaborate on the extent of that invulnerability very much, but my personal headcanon is that in exchange for being a little pudgy space potato that is literally named "The Worst", he's the *only* alien in Ben's arsenal that could *absolutely* survive an encounter with something as powerful as a celestialsapien. Like, The Worst literally couldn't hurt you if he tried, but conversely *you* couldn't hurt *him* even you're omnipotent.
I mean I'm fairly certain a celestialsapien could just *highlight power delete* and kill the worst. But by any mortal means, yeah, he's a walking tank.... just with no firepower
At 33:13, I was thinking on a reason why Ben may have to fight a bunch of mechamorphs, when I remembered that the main villain for this arc is a mechamorph. Ben could just use Lodestar against malware.
@InevitableOption-ic2vx yes, but that is counterintuitive because by making them not show up, their toys sold even less. So what they could/should have done was show off these aliens more and even boost their capability so that people would want to buy those toys.
@InevitableOption-ic2vx This is really embarrassing to admit, but I've never actually sat down and watched Ben 10. This series is the first time I've watched the show.
Ben isn't wrong in his point about using the Omnitrix. While he should be able to fight better as Ben, using the Omnitrix to end fights quickly is very pragmatic, and you want fights to end quickly.
29:09 and ironically enough he’s the most useful out of the “small aliens” he unlocks in this episode especially as he was able to go toe to toe with 1800s Vilgax
Max: "BENNNNNNNN!" Ben: "I thought it was a snack machine!" Rook:" I tried to tell you.Yet you somehow did not hear me despite the fact I had repeated myself several times."
Seeing this episode really makes me wonder how many of Ben's aliens are useless or just civilian level like humans. The Omnitrix has over 1 million transformations, so it's bound to have a few that just don't have any special powers or abilities.
I'd actually count Ditto as one of them. Aside from cloning himself, being able to dig underground, and breathing underwater, he's pretty standard. Echo Echo and Slapback are able to be more battle orientated and versatile with their abilities, but Ditto really only has Rob Paulsen as his biggest contributing factor with him.
My favorite alien is Pesky Dust. It may look cute, but looks can be deceiving because it has the ability to put people to sleep and manipulate their dreams! Danny had the ability to Dream Walk in the DP episode, " Frightmare" where he had to enter his friends's dreams to save them from Nocturn!
Finally, the episode introduced me to Ben 10 and my favourite alien: Kickin Hawk. I know he is a bit overhated, but his significant to me. This episode made him look so cool to 4 year old me.
33:09 wow, that weakness to magnetism would really come in handy, if only Ben had a Galvanic Mechamorph as an enemy... (Looks at Malware) ...that would really be useful.
Kickin hawk is easily one of the best aliens from omniverse. He's just a bird lmao. I wish he had a bit more of a personality like rath but hes still dope.
This RU-vid channel has reawakened my love for Ben 10 and drawing. Thanks to this channel, I've taken steps to learn animation and design what the aliens would look like in my style. I even purchased a drawing tablet with a screen. It has made drawing even more fun that it's always been. These breakdowns has also helped me appreciate animation in all shows I watch now (altho I see flaws in them now too lol)
i think that machine Ben lodged a coin into was likely some kind of comms relay station, that coin likely caused the comms to short cirquit and die, hense why they can't reach Azmuth
In my own head canon, Liam and Kickin Hawk race are Gallimarquess(galli=chicken/marquess of Queensberry boxing), of the Ruffers variety they street fight/kick boxing. On the planet of Walloon X(the french flag of the Red Rooster/10 is the chinese zodiac number for Rooster), are multiple races of gamefowl aliens like chickens, turkeys, guineafowl, pheasants, and peafowls. Each with their own fighting style similar to how Arctiquana is a Manzardii of the polar variety. Turkeys can be the spartans with their huge tail fans and buff chests Guineafowl can ninjas Pheasant can robin hood type arrow lanchers Peafowls(peacocks) can be emperors with fan blades(lord shen reference) and their natural predator can be a Giant Owl(Rock a Doodle reference) named Shyflights, waiting at night to wisk little Gallimarquess and haunting their nightmares with their ear piercing scream, and their so quiet no one heard them. Kickin Hawk along with Pesky dust, Gravattack, Whampire, and Atomix are my favorite Omniverse aliens.
YES you're doing one of my favourite episodes of the show. One for my fav things about this episode is the designs of Syphon and the others especially Syphons and the other reason I like this ep is the fact that it is just a fun episode and again thank you for covering this ep ❤
My thought is that KickinHawk and Liam are not the same genetically. Liam's DNA probably just caused the Omnitrix to select the DNA already in the Codon Stream for the species. Like, sample acquired, oh already have a better version, use that. And I like Pesky Dust best. Especially because of the next time he shows up.
I think the beginning of this episode would’ve worked better if instead of max and took telling Ben to not rely on the omnitrix, they were getting on ben’s case for not practising with certain aliens in case he mistransforms, would make more sense while still working with the theme of ben’s knowledge of certain aliens being the key to saving the day, which would encourage Ben to expand his knowledge of all of his alien transformations
I wish that they used the Siphon-Heatblast fusion design as a separate villain. It would have been cool to have a heat blast villain especially with the look that the fusion had
Isn't the omnitrix supposed to not handle hybrids? Or is it more of a situation of it recognized the humungasaur DNA and isolated the Kickenhawk DNA? Eitherway, I don't think it SCANNED Liam, but rather being touched by Liam just unlocked it.
It will never not be really cool how Freddy Diavolo is just a full on member of the Ink Tank. My mind always subconsciously separates RU-vidrs from, for lack of a better word, "real" jobs, so seeing them cross over like this still blows my mind.
Lol Freddy Diavolo I forget that Goff voices Freddy and I just recently watched Jojo Part 5 since netflix didn't have it for some reason until recently.
"switching from someone as smart as gray matter to as dumb as wrath I flash must put you through some mental whiplash" he unintentionally rapper without knowing
It honestly never clicked to me that Ben got several new aliens in this episode and what a big deal that was Probably because it was treated like a gag and aren't really focused on, like that time he tried transforming into several different aliens until he got one he could use
Okay I might be jumping the gun a bit here but after what learn about his powers later on in the series. I feel like pesky dust could have handle the break out villains pretty well on his own
When I first time wachted this episode I thought these are glitch aliens artificially create by Omnitrix like Nanomech, but in similar way like glitch pokemons in Red and Blue games. Omnitrix use data in it, but didn't work correct, because of the holes in the code and start randomly modify an existing Dna samples. Nanomech is literally modified Ben's Dna, so same thing with those guys with other Dna samples. Walkatrout is based of Ripjaws' Dna. Pesky Dust is based of Ben's Anodite Dna (whatever if Anodites have Dna or not). The Worst is just worst Upchuck. And Molestache is like, mole version of Armadrillo or Wild Mutt or something. I didn't knew back then they was an existing species in the lore.
We're kinda lucky Omniverse ended so soon, because if lasted till October 2018 we would have had an episode of Ben uses his aliens to fight 6 year olds over a bingo plush, which actually sounds like a really enjoyable episode.
I really love this episode when it first aired on Cartoon Network and it was Soo funny when Rook became an Upchuck and the villains became Shocksquatch Heatblast Upgrade and especially Humungosaur
I don't think it was the plumbers trying to say Ben can only be special with the omnitrix, but more like them just accepting that Ben is far too reliant on the omnitrix at that point so dealing with an immediate crisis wouldn't be a good idea for him
Fun fact: If you look at this frame on 26:24 , the plumber on the left is named “Bryk” and his partner on the right is named “morty” it could be a reference to Rick and morty or just a coincidence but I thought it was neat.
Yeah he got the mic in the studio not at home I think bro's using a pc mic. Either way it just adds to the humor bros a voice actor and he's a got crappy mic for vids. I mean at least you can understand him.
whats funny is until it was pointed out in this breakdown i just straight up thought that psyphon saying "you have no idea where you are? do you?" was him calling bubbles dumb
I know it’s sort of a cop-out but I think in my head canon that the Omnitrix was processing the best way to protect Ben from Doctor cycobos and so it was vulnerable in that split moment he attacked so that is why he was able to steal a piece of the omnitrix
The reason she was still out of control is probably cause she isnt a natural Galvan, she never had this kind of experience so shes probably panicking and has no idea what to do
