It’s crazy how even though Omniverse is the most light hearted and comedic of the original 4 shows, Malware is one of the most terrifying and psychotic villains of the entire franchise.. and in all of his appearances he is consistent
@@axelnilsson5124 almost said something but yeah Animo was the best of his returning villians, sure without context his alien force version was awkward because he's prison jacked still but yeah that's a nickpick at worst
@@SuperGamefreak18other than the Ma Vreedle scene, I really think OV Vilgax is consistent as well. I really wished they used some other villain to be intimidated by her, but I get why they used Vilgax since it would need to be a ruthless villain for the joke to work and he's the standard
If Ben was stuck as an alien a week, for a month (roughly 4 weeks), then that could further prove Diamondhead’s line when he fights Vilgax in Alien Force: “I’ve had a lot of practice with this one!” Maybe one of those weeks was as Diamondhead.
I really love how the bad guys in this arc are a trio, a team, all with unique powers, goals, motivations and a reason to join. We rarely see villains that are a group of equals, all important and with a different role. Usually villains have a boss and henchmen, teams are nearly exclusively for heroes.
one thing I really like about this episode is that Albedo is shown to have such high respect for Azmuth, it makes what happens in UAF and later in Omniverse feel a bit more tragic seeing how much Albedo has had grown to hate him
I always saw Malware's "birth" as being Azmuth and the Mechamorphs turning off the Helix as it had already done what was needed and leaving it on could only cause problems, unfortunately Malware was mid creation as they did this causing him to be spat out as an incomplete entity, a premature birth
A cool headcanon I have is that Malware had his own personal grudge against Feedback beyond just getting rid of him to torment Ben. Feedback is a near perfect counter to Malware power-wise and had beaten Malware on 3 separate occasions (the 1st episode flashback, trouble helix, and the plumber base fight)
That makes sense. It seems that Feedback was the only transformation that really was a significant threat. Diamondhead could only immobilize him as he was basically immune to blades and projectiles which are Diamondhead's main offensive abilities. Perhaps electricity is the only thing that can kill a Galvanic Mechamorph. I guess the tiny circuits within their bodies are damaged by strong EM radiation.
I honestly think the entertainment should be a 5. There’s never really a dull moment in this episode. Even the backstory exposition part is entertaining because it gives us new lore and interesting visuals.
I think he was just hesitant to give the episode a perfect 25. But it kind of deserves it. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the all time best episodes, but it is one of the ones with the least wrong with it.
Corey Burton is incredible in every role he has ever played but to me he will always be Brainiac. The calculating and emotionless voice he had as Brainiac was one of the first legitimate times I remember being blown away by the voice of a character as a kid.
Honestly the whole "Azmuth didn't help Malware enough" VS "Malware didn't have enough patience" thing for me comes down to how long Malware was stuck waiting. Like if it was only a few years then yeah, I can understand Azmuth's side of things. But if it was decades of waiting, I'd say Malware has a point.
@InevitableOption-ic2vxidk if its centuries or not but even if it were like 50 years between Malware's birth and this episode I'd still say Azmuth fucked up.
Azmuth is in the wrong, but he's not new to being in the wrong lmao, he didn't gave credit to Myaxx for assisting on creating the Omnitrix and he left it lost somewhere in the universe with people like Vilgax searching for it. Azmuth is intelligent, but he's also arrogant and a jerk sometimes. Doesn't excuse Malware's actions though.
To be fair to Malware, its kind of implied that: A) He was actively in immense physical pain B) He was basically an outcast among his own species due to the corrosive effect he had on all technology, including other Mechamorphs So him losing patience was understandable, despite still being a mistake on his part
I always remembered yellow malware being immense pain since birth and he reaches out for technology including his own people when hes born to try and fix his code and subdue his pain. Also makes sense for malware to be such an outcast when he killed one of his own people are birth
I don't see a problem with Malware being impatient, as it looked like he was in constant agony because of his imperfect form. Imagine spending years in pain waiting for the closest thing to a parent you have to help you, only to be answered with "I need more time"
It's like if you had the world's worst case of scoliosis, and there was one doctor in the whole world who could fix your spine. I think most people in that situation would grow bitter and hateful, especially if A. You were surrounded by other beings without your problems, living their lives as they should and B. The doctor in question said your condition was "complicated" while busying himself with other side projects.
Theres a couple of ben's original aliens I'd like to see malware fight: - Wildmutt, just because it'e be interetsing to see how Wildmutt sees him - Stinkfly, what would happen when stinkyfly's goo touches malware - Ditto, just think it'd be cool
Honestly, Malware probably wouldn't have been as memorable if it weren't for Corey. The man has a talent for voicing these kinds of characters. I mean, he's Shockwave, after all.
Even when I was watching Omniverse as a kid I knew Malware was something else. Hes incredibly intimidating, very well animated with all of his powers, and he holds a ton of weight since hes one of the very few villains who actually scares Ben to his core. He hasnt been this screwed up by a villain since Vilgax or classic Kevin. And Corey Burtons vocal performance is top notch.
@mayotango1317 Well, when malware met ben again, bens tone seemed afraid, saying things like no it can't be or stay back I'm warning you so the trauma was probably returning
So glad everyone agrees Corey Burton is an amazing voice actor. The champ's been doing this since the 80s, and he's one of the many voice actors Derrick worked with on Transformers Animated. Except with Corey that was kinda like working with Yuri Lownethal for us. Corey Burton voiced Shockwave on the original show, and a lot of fans love him. On Animated he not only reprised his role, but got to play Megatron. Keep that in mind whenever Malware fights any of David Kaye's aliens. You're hearing a rematch.
You know part of me always wanted to see Ben accidentally transform into Upgrade just to see how Ben would do in a form that would be instant death for him against someone like Maleware
What if max was talking to azmuth about the feedback issue? Maybe ben was stuck as feedback during the month or maybe max already noticed the ben and feedback situation and wanted to get azmuth 's opinion
I actually do like that Malware was retconned to being the reason Ben took off the watch, but a part of me likes to head canon that he's part of the reason Azmuth cut ties with Albedo. By upgrading Malware he not only made one of Azmuth's creations even more dangerous and unstable but he also inadvertently caused Ben to lose Feedback after Malware destroyed him. At that point I don't think Azmuth would be on good terms with Albedo afterwards, it might not have been the nail in the coffin between the two but it was, in my opinion, probably the shovel that started the digging.
I feel that's unfair, it's not like Albedo predicted all this or was his intention and it's not like Azmuth cared in particular about Feedback that much aside from how it affected Ben
Malware is my favorite ben 10 villain his character is just so fascinating how you can understand his logic and his anger while also clearly seeing how it all keeps escalating bcuz of his impatient when others where just trying to help (and like you pointed Azmuth is also a little to blame on not showing concern in how this made Malware feel). And yeah his design as the yellow version is absolutely amazing it totally sells the incomplete and sickly feel.
Honestly, Malware is far better than Servantis since his motivations and twisted personality make sense when you consider how he came to be and his inferiority complex turning into an Albert Wesker-esque superiority complex. It also leads up to the creation of the Nemetrix, and by extent, Khyber's involvement in Omniverse.
I’d love to have seen Upgrade VS. Malware purely for the potential threat it poses to Ben. Malware can do that thing that effectively kills mechamorphs, so having Ben have to go on such a sheer defense would’ve been interesting
I think the conversation with Azmuth was probably him asking questions on the Omnitrix to try to prevent issues and to help coach Ben to use it better. Maybe he asked Azmuth for a solution to always getting the wrong alien or to ask him to stop Ben from always picking the same one.
What if being stuck as feedback for a week was his favorite alien out of the four, which is what lead to his attachment to the alien throughout early omniverse.
Corey Burton is one of my all-time favorite voice actors. Malware is one of his best performances. The character combined the calculating apathy of Brainiac from the DCAU with the frigid malice of Megatron from Transformers Animated.
Malware for me was always one of the most memorable villains in Omniverse and I'd even argue the entire Ben 10 saga. I can't wait to see your analysis of the arc. Also seeing feedback taken away from young ben still gives me chills.
9:34 I like both pronunciations for the same yet different reason: while the Omniverse pronunciation is more human the UAF pronunciation is more strange and due to him being an alien it makes sense for something like that
17:30. I would honestly like to see any of his aliens go up against Malware. But for original series aliens, the first one that comes to mind is Wildvine. Mostly because I like the idea of a technology alien going up against a plant alien.
Malware was always in that S or A tier when it comes to villains for me the flashback of him in the season 3 premier (my favorite episode of Omniverse) made him truly awesome for me
The season 3 premiere is supposed to be the season 2 finale but Cartoon Network, as always, messed up the order they aired the episodes in. Cause I mean, logistically, why would you even have the conclusion of an arc as a season premiere?
I think the talk Max had was already told to us in the finale of Alien Force. He prolly had to argue the case that Ben needs to keep the Omnitrix because despite him being a child he’s decently adjusted and is highly capable.
In Omniverse’s logic, sure. But dang that would seriously be out of character if that was the case. Azmuth at that Omniverse flashback already accepted Ben to be highly capable already during his debut. And had let Ben get away with a slap on the wrist for much worse (Destroy All Aliens).
17:28 what i wanted to see before, was ben as uprade, vs malware. But i feel like upgrade would've end up being another victim of malware like what he did later on to the other mecha morphs.
Ah Malware. The only alien that killed one of Ben's aliens and led Ben into removing the Omnitrix until the events of Alien Force. Edit: 5:55 They forgot the green glow that happens when Ben transforms.
It still amuses me to this day the episode itself goes "it's not that simple" about the Malware situation, and some fans still think they know better and that they know Azmuth just didn't care (him trying again and again over and over is evidence he does truly want to help)
its kinda interesting how Malware seems to "leak" from under the helix during his creation, it makes me wonder if he isn't some sort of byproduct of creating Mechamorphs rather than something that was just created wrong
Way I see it the helix when activated is constantly producing the data and material needed to create more mechamorphs, but it was shut off in the middle of coding more of itself. Though you bring up,a curious point.
20:42 Here’s some info on messing with the moon from your local science person. TLDR? Azmuth’s experiment on Galvan B would probably be perfectly safe. The reason messing with the Moon is a problem is that the Moon helps regulate the tidal forces on Earth via its gravitational pull. So moving or even outright removing large portions of the moon (thus changing its gravitational field) would cause the tides to suddenly change, producing massive waves and permanently changing the tidal currents. However, simply adding an atmosphere to eventually allow for habitation? That’s perfectly safe provided the air you add doesn’t add to much mass to the planet (and it shouldn’t). So Galvan Prime would be fine after Azmuth messed with Galvan B, unless he decided to take a MASSIVE chunk out of it.
Malware was the goat. A cool idea that expands on your idea of Albedo reviving Malware instead of teaming up with Vilgax (for the 3rd time despite being betrayed the first 2 times) would be having Alpha return and having him and Malware meet (even seeing how similar they are) and fuse. Maybe Rex could bust out some new builds like the un-used concepts such as the Slick Trick.
27:21 I don't think that scenario would happen. Malware despises Galvan so he would never work with Albedo. Even if Albedo somehow manage to persuade Malware to cooperate, there's no doubt Malware would either take advantage of Albedo and ditch him when things go south or he would double cross him at one point.
So at 29:50 Kuro brings up why ben is timing out and recharging so fast, i thought og 2 great explanations they couldve gone with. First only works for this episode but in order for azmuth to repair the previously mentioned glitch that kept ben as an alien for a week he couldve over corrected by giving the timer a shorter cool down. Second works in the long term but as we saw during the feedback fight and maybe the conbolt fight Malware seems to have a sort of effect on the omnitrix forcing a timeout, maybe due to the rapid timeouts the omnitrix is self correcting and giving him faster recharges to help. This could be a great explanation since the majority of flash back episodes involve malware.
I love your passion for each series and how you compliment omniverse, It's nice to see more people appreciate the details and love put in OV Great work as always Kuro!
lately I'm seeing a lot of love for OV, like if in a video someone would say OV is bad (and u guessed it that person would have barely watched OV), the people would correct that guy in the comments by saying OV is good
@@theamazingspooderman2697 critics are annoying not gonna lie. I used to love tv shows and anime. Now I barely can watch it since most of them are just boring and feels outdated
Completely understand that the channel is going in a different direction and I'm really excited to see what happens big ups to the new frontier But damn it feel good to have another breakdown 😂
Everything from Malware's origin and design to his threat level and the sheer trauma he put Ben through honestly reminds me of Ghostfreak from the original series ,in the best way possible. Malware, despite being softly retconned into the series' timeline, fits pretty well as one of Ben's arch enemies
Malware is my favorite Ben 10 villain. I love that they make full use of him being a Galvanic Mechamoprh, and while we're only seeing the start of his relationship with Ben, I love that he's one of the few villains that legitimately strikes fear into Ben after what he did to Feedback.
A theory I have for what Max talking with Azmuth would be him noticing signs of Ben's Feedback dilemma or at least the early signs of it but its just a theory and it doesn't really hold weight. I enjoyed this episode growing up and wow Malware really is such a good villain and I forgot how dangerous he was and will eventually be in the future.
Malware is honestly my all time favorite Ben 10 villain, he was always a threat and didn't overstay his welcome, even though I would've loved to see him come back
I think that Ben didn't see Khyber becasue he had his eyes shut while flinching away from the gun blasting him. This episode also reminds me about something that I recall thinking back in the day that I think was a missed oppertunity; After hearing about Maltruant for the first time from Ben 10 K I recall assuming that he was some upgraded form of Malware, even after learning he was a Chronosapien, it was still possible, since, if I recall correctly in his first appearence, we see that Galvanic Mechamorphs and Chronosapiens can merge since we saw Ben and Ben 23 fuse togeather to escape Mad Ben's universe. Given the way that Malgax Attacks ends with the implication that Malware would return, it would have been a cool reveal that, perhaps some hapless Chronosapien came across the remains of Vilgax in the Malware armour, perhaps not even knowing what they were and trying to help and Malware absorbed it, becoming Maltruant, it would have been a neat way to book end the series, with the first villain returning as the final boss, particularly since Maltruant's plan to make a whole new universe in his image feels like it's a more extreme version of Malware's plan to merge with Galvan Prime.
I think it would have been neat if young Ben used Articguana against malware. It was implied with young Kevin’s second amalgam form and the body swap through time that young Ben has him. Was always disappointed that he was never used.
when he said "i was hoping for diamond head" actually sounds like he knew the watch was gonna mistransform him damn i love this show so much it knows how to write characters and side characters this is great
Bro a channel like yours deserves millions upon millions of subscribers... I've been watching you guys ever since I can remember and you are truly underrated. Keep being awesome, love these videos :-)
One of the aliens I would love to see is Lodestar becuase if you all remember the mecamorf are suposed to be kinda like a biological metal so lodestar would be pretty interesting for the crew to explore the concept.
What if alpha escape from generator Rex’s universe and came back to Ben 10’s universe, and found the remains of malware, and somehow brought back to life, and they merge to one into alpha Mauer seeking both revenge on Ben, Rex, and Azimuth?
I like to think that Ben spun the dial as like a "Spin the wheel" kind of thing. He wanted diamond head but was gonna leave it to chance, for a rush. Make the fight even more fun
0:31 probably no 6:22 he was being blasted with the energy gun thing (prototool?) 14:10 he was incomplete and he looks more blocky and stiff compared to the other galvanic mechamorphs so it does make sense he looks different 17:12 there’s also the fact that he’s currently in a fight so probably not enough time to actually select Diamondhead 19:50 19:54 lol 20:05 maybe that was when his opinion on smoothies started to change, or it’s Gwen’s or Grandpa Max’s 23:09 maybe 24:35 they probably trust her enough to use it. She is more mature than Ben 35:32 idk, maybe his Kaiju form?
I've always imagined that Grandpa Max was part of some Plumber super-soldier program. That would explain how he can be backhanded by an angry Maleware and not have all his bones disintegrate.
At 16:15 even though the watch was used wrong i still love that animation for the watch the wau it spins and the sound effect was really satisfying for some reason
I would have liked to see toepick or pesky dust go against malware or even gut rot. Would be interesting to see how they interact because i know its stated some people are immune to toepick and pesky dust cant do much on her (his) own but.
So about the having Malware instead of Vilgax in Malgax Attacks thing, I thought about it at the end. Wouldn't it have been even cooler to have all three of them? Team up of the century. The best villains of each era working together. Should Malgax count as a Malware design for the poll tho? (that's what made me think about this cool team up, hehe)
I think maglax is more a vilgax design then a malware ome since malwares persona wasn't there. My main issue with malgax attacks anyhow is that albedo shouldn't be working with vilgax at all since he betrayed him twice, and I think malware being there would make matters worse
Its amazing how corey not only came back to voice shockwave in transformers animated but then was given the exact same character with the motives of GenRex's alpha.
They went the ethical route and didn't start war Wow... when they say galvin are smarter than humans I never thought it would be put on this kinda meta level
