The Most Unique Open World RPG On Steam That You’ve Never Heard Of - Dread Delusion 

The navigating kind of reminds me of Thief & Thief II. Whenever you were given a map in a level it was not a license to easily go from point A to B. You ran into dead ends, blocked paths. Difficult to figure out getting around but when you did complete a level, especially on max difficulty, very rewarding.

This is definitely awakening the same feelings I had as a kid starting up his first Morrowind playthrough

The most amazing thing from this channel is that this guy won't shut up for even 2 straight seconds. No hostility herr or anything, I just think it's an amazing skill lol

The game is quite fun. Been eating up all the content as they've been releasing it. I think one thing people need to remember is that this was initially part of the Haunted PS1 Demo Disk from 2020 so PS1-era graphics (including polygon jitter) and PS1-era gameplay is part of the *point* of this game.

Watching this, I was immediately reminded of my first Dwemer ruin in Morrowind. The weird clockwork monsters were my first introduction to 3D RPGs. This game is so for me!

it reminds me of Lunacid, which was my best surprise and game of the year for 2023. Lunacid is clearly an hommage to Kingsfield and other old games like Morrowind, and since you give similar comparisons, I'm already in love with this. leaving notes on the map would be awesome. That's one of the [only] things _The Phantom Hourglass_ did right: you could write reminders right onto the map!

I liked all of what I saw in this video, but the thing that got me really interested was the "cozy RPG". That's exactly the vibe I'm seeking these days.

Definitely getting King's Field vibes, and I actually think there should be a "fog" that limits view distance. It was for performance in KF, but it also helped with atmosphere. It would require a lot of sign-posting of locations, however.

A game you might want to try is Lunacid. It's a psychedelic style game where you make your way through a subterranean world. The power of your character and the enemies are directly tied to the current real world phases of the moon.

Absolutely love the looks of this game, I bought a copy long ago to support its development at least a bit, but am holding out till 1.0 so I can experience it in it's finished state. Your videos make that harder to do lol.

BTW, Steam have a feature that you can make NOTES thru the overlay interface and it is CLOUD save to that particular game

The feeling of nostalgia in the way this looks and plays is tremendous. How could anyone not love the way it looks? This will be getting played a load by me.

Reminds me a lot of Giants - citizen kabuto in terms of graphics, RUNE gameplay, Morrowind landscape and gives vibes of Might and Magic 6/7/8 or Gothic in terms of worldbuilding. Out of all of them RUNE (1999) was by for the most memorable to me. Friends of my mother introduced me to these games as I was too young back then, which is was very thankful for. The 90´s and early 2000´s were definitly the golden age of gaming. Might and Magic 6/7/8 especially still have me dreaming of being in these magical worlds myself sometimes. Games were made with such love, humor and passion back then.

Games with simple old-school, low-poly graphics yet modern technical capabilities is awesome IMO. I think there should be fog and whatnot to reduce visibility tho, make it more atmospheric and spooky. Moreso, limited vision and unknown stuff in the distance does help set the mood and is evocative for older games.

I was born in 1994 and grew up with morrowind and oblivion so this is probably also my type of game lol..

Its a fun game. I put a lot of time into it. They do shove a metric ton of healing items at you. No reason to die.

hey splatchat, I got a question if you guys please: I'm trying to find the name of a game splat covered 1-2 weeks ago but the video seems to be gone. copyright strike I guess? Anyways it was a top-down post-apocalyptic rouge-like/lite and I remember it being described in lore as a suicide mission where each new character is selected by lottery to explain in world why each character is so randomized. It definitely wasn't Jupiter Hell or Quasimorph, didn't wishlist it back then because I'm "smart"; going absolutely mad wracking my head to remember it. Oh yeah! there also was a giant worm as an enemy, if that helps. for any who're curious: Found it, it's called "empty Shell". i wonder why the video is no longer available, oh well.

This is legit one of my favorite games on Steam right now. Has been for a while now. Need to dive back in and explore the newest location/realm. Still haven't checked it out. But yea, I love this game.

My first association with the style was Wizardry 8 meets Morrowind.

It has the early Elder Scroll games vibes, which is good

Yup, I'm getting this game. Love the crunchy graphics, the focus on exploration and the combat is serviceable. I used to play Two Worlds a lot solely because of the exploration.

This game actually shows how weirdly gaming evolved over the last 25-30 years. The unique and weird looking worlds kinda disappeared, even the games with alien planets show reasonable and normal looking maps. Kinda seems like as the grapichs evolved, the devs gave up on these ideas and just went on to make realistic looking games :/

I was following this one since the PS1 demo disc but it didn't appear to be anything more than a vibes-check style of game. Glad to see it's now closer to Lunacid in delivering vibes and fun hack and slash gameplay.

Okay, this looks really interesting, gonna pick this up.

I've finished almost all quests at the time of 0.7.1 version and the biggest problem I have with this game is that it doesn't give you any challenge. It is really easy to max out your skills and vacuum the loot out of the map. the dungeons and places of interest are really easy. Haste spell is OP and looks like a joke. The only interesting thing here for me is the lore and narrative.

This game looks pretty cool tbh. Reminds me of blocky low res textures from my Sega Saturn back in the day.

Graphically I'm taken back to the Doom 'clones' of Heretic and Hexxen.

I like the sound of this project. Morrowind is a favorite of mine but I do hope they make the environments a little more cohesive when it comes to looks. Some of those walls look like 8x8 sprites while the doors look more 32x32 if that makes sense. A lack of consistent resolution to the environments I guess is what I think it looks like.

the exploring, lore, and even building up your farm is what i loved wild shit. i teamed up with a eldritch horror and now he just sits in town making me uncomfortable. Anyone having trouble with the sky you wont after like an hour

I have definitely heard of this and seen it on the store page several times, though didn't really look into it that deeply. I really loved Morrowind for what it was at the time, but I don't really wanna play it again. What I would want was a game that was like what a TES game would have been today if Bethesda hadn't decided to go off in a completely different direction.

I enjoy this game but I wish it wasn't as linear as it was. Hearing that it was like Morrowind so much it really gave me a false impression.

Looks amazing and definitely seems to evoke that 20 or so years ago vibe. I wish you could see your hands though. I played Morrowind when I was like 17 or so around 2003 and it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen at the time. Definitely gonna check this out

I get the aesthetic, but it's a shame the game doesn't use lighting and shadows. I get it, it's global illumination only I guess. Light and shadow add so much to the exploration mood though. Thanks for covering!

This game will be perfect with some light on it. Looks very fun but is so "flat" without some light and shadows. I know is a design decision but it´s a tun off for me.

I found this game while looking for games similar to Morrowind and while it is a smaller game, it definitely scratched a similar itch. I immensely enjoyed my time with it and I wish there were more games like it. I don't really care about graphics quality. Just make a nice stylized art style is all I need.

Looks like Graven is done for. Also just one look at this game reminded me how under 30 years Bethesda never managed to create a good sandbox fps-rpg game. Maybe old schoolers will argue that Morrowind had depth.....but it is all muddy and just a bunch of stats and locations thrown together. Now this game looks like it can take the cake, even though it is an fps, its gameplay especially the exploration is a loveletter to the old Gothic series.

Im very interested in this game but honestly what bugs me a little is the red hue on everything, I feel over time it would start to be a bit of an eyesore
