I’ve only seen Drop G# with Down and Dirty, Architects, Polaris, At the Ruins, and Asking Alexandria. What other bands use that tuning?

For a long time, I habitually tuned to Eb standard, and Drop Db for some stuff, and as much as I love that tuning (A Strat tuned to Eb is a thing of audial beauty) I noticed that not a lot of heavy metal was in that tuning pre 1996 (when Metallica dropped everything down to Eb) and most people using the Eb tuning were more grunge or alternative. I don't do a lot of really low tuning...I usually don't go below Drop C. (I know, I'm boring) Out of all the tunings I've played with, Eb is probably my favorite. It's like the Goldilocks tuning....it's not too high, not too low...just right. I also tend to cover certain songs a half step down to be able to sing them better...but that's just my lack of vocal talent.

D standard. That's my go to. I don't like drop tunings because it changes chords and I just prefer standard tunings but dropping down a full step and being able to go a bit lower is always awesome.

E Standard, D# Standard, Drop C, Drop B and D standard are the most used IMO

My favorites are Eb and Drop C# tbh

B standard, D standard, and D# standard are probably my three favorites.

Instead of drop tuning I prefer more strings, of course in standard tuning Drop D, C, C#, B, A sounds, for me, more comfortable to use 7 strings in standard, and drop to A Drop F#/F in 8 strings

G# is under rated, angry and just wonderful.

nik can you show me A standard on 6 string with first four in fourths and then the 3rd and 4th. and how to tune it?

Drop A on 7 followed by drop C on 6 string feels the heaviest. Lower than that and it becomes muddy and we have use for synth bass only, no bass guitar can cope with anything lower than drop A, maybe F sharp standard is the lowest electric bass can go. I have seen ultra low C sharps on basses, but that along with 9 string guitars is useless.

drop c# is used by Memphis May Fire. At least before their most recent album.
