how to finland would be more appropriate imo. sweden has some gold melodeath bands out there but for the most part sweden is renowned for pure death metal. on the other hand every metal band from finland ever fits pretty much all the stereotypes listed in the video. Gotta love our friends up there in the north!
@@ourobori1530 i think they are pretty unique. Most melodeath bands incorporate keyboards and they don't, the vocalist also probably has one of the best death growls in melodeath, and the band leans a lot towards folk metal.
Not gonna lie, I love the acoustic guitar side of Nik. You should play more emotional and acoustic stuff and by the way, before I get roasted by the wave of metalheads, I actually love many subgenres of metal music too, not just emo and scene kid stuff lmao
I'll be honest. From all the stereotype videos this one is my favourite music wise. I enjoyed every single riff and solo. Keep it up :) The others were great, but this one hit a 💯
I found myself smiling like an idiot because of this video. Couldn’t be more accurate. I swore Andrew actually went and got a HM-2 and maxed out all the settings.
Sacrilege - The Fifth Season Ablaze My Sorrow - If Emotions Still Burn Night In Gales - Towards The Twilight Eucharist - Mirrorworlds Sins Of Omission - The Creation Gates Of Ishtar - The Dawn Of Flames Arch Enemy - Stigmata
Gotta love the maiden inspired melodies. You can't forget about the amott riffage from the carcass heartwork album 😅 You should do swedish death metal next
Super accurate! This just reinforced how much of a sucker I am for Melo-death. (Also, the description says "Some of the most used stereotypes in Modern Metalcore!")
Tyler Ranno Yeah these bands for sure, pioneers. I’d also add The Black Dahlia Murder, Slugdge, Aether Realm, Omnium Gatherum, Insomnium, Dawn of Disease, Voice of Ruin, Wilderun. Really it’s a huge and varied sub genre of metal, lots to get in to.
Avicenna A. Omnium Gatherum, Scar Symmetry, Solution .45, Mygrain, Into Eternity (their first two singers), Universum, Soilwork. Definitely along with the first bands commented
Those stereotypes of old school mdm... We listen to modern mdm as well. And mdm genre is still hard, cuz there is a lot of stuff going on like: there is more keyboards and chill melodic solo.
One of the most important stereotypes is not here... The catchy lead guitar pattern on the should be chorus of a song... Normally people sing along to the chorus of any Pop song because it has the most memorable melody to follow... However, Melodeath uses the lead guitar as the main memorable melody to follow (especially older Melodeathmetal). Also, there is always the solos either in the middle or towards the end of a song that last way longer than your average rock song played on the radio. The main instruments used in this style can bring in outside instruments that are not guitar, drums, and synths. Sometimes pianos, violins, flutes, etc. are used as well... This video just seems to make fun of Melodeath instead of having an analytical composition perspective down to the science so people could understand on how to really create it. However, this guy is a very good guitar player...
The acoustic interlude is the same chord progression as Reckoner by Radiohead. I've used those shapes in a similar way ever since I learned that song. They always sound good.
Hehe I love the switch to the acoustic guitar, and yes my favorite band is Insomnium lol. If you can't make fun of yourself, who can you make fun of? 😆 My friend Nova referred this video to me
Hm, I just finished a song I started making in 2005. Ok, it was basically complete, but had to re-work the solo because I've lost the tabs that had it done aswell. It's not even a melodeath song, but I still used some same stereotypes found in this video. Now ain't that a wake-up call, thanks.
