Video idea - Magazine cards. Lots of cool stuff to explore there. Some super high value rookies. Some cards from mostly unknown magazines that go for a surprising amount (such as Sports Card Investor magazine Lebron and Pujols). Sports illustrated and SI for Kids have put out a ton of cards.

Those were the kind of cards you already read about in Beckett but never saw. There was always a story in Beckett about someone who casually bought 1 pack off the top & pulled some rare 1/1 insert.

That 1995 Jeter Topps Finest card is incredible!
@DeadGuyCardboard
@DeadGuyCardboard 3 года назад
The reason that 1998 Longevity Jeter went for so much is because it was 01/50. The first serial numbered card in the set is actually a 1/1 called Longevity Holographic.

@@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559 Longevities are serial numbered to 50. But the first card serial numbered is actually a 1/1 and it has a different finish than the other 49.

I've been binge watching your videos and I'm quite impressed. Any chance you can do a segment on 1990 Topps Partial Blackless cards. I found a bunch recently and information on value is very sparse as most people have no idea what they are. Keep up the good work.

That is awesome to hear! I really first got heavy into cards in the 1990s, so these years have a lot of personal attachment for me. I think the 90s was a very creative time for the hobby in terms of design and card concepts, a lot of cool stuff.
@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559
@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559 3 года назад
@@collectorinvestordealer I completely agree. I just had this conversation with someone the other day. We were both missing some of the creative inserts from those years. Some of those were just brilliant. The crazy thing is, it was just one or two people coming up with the designs sometimes. There's another YT Chan that has had the husband and wife team that designed the PMG's and a lot of the iconic inserts from the 90's. I figured it was a bunch of people around a big table with well thought out plans. Come to find out it was more of a "throw it and see what sticks" mentality.
@collectorinvestordealer

The 1995 Finest Refractor set is considered to be a short printed set with a print run estimated at 550. Because this was the year after the 1994 season with no World Series, Topps did not want to invest a lot into printing a premium set which may not sell because of the backlash. So they limited production on Finest.
@gabriels1163

Even the bad players go for a lot as a 10 refractor from that year. Its pretty amazing, but I am guessing there are a couple people trying to complete sets.

Parallels of Griffey and Jeter from the 1990s are generally going to be worth getting graded, assuming they would grade 9 or 10. There might be a few exceptions. Feel free to shoot me an email if you want me to advise on a specific card. sewallsportscards@gmail.com

The More I watch.... The more I am upset with myself. I collected from about 86-about 98 all sports and mainly collected Jordan. I was dumb last year and traded my 97-98 game worn jersey Jordan (ungraded, but from pack to hard plastic... Seriously how I was) for a 1969 C10..... That card ungraded was going for about 5k....man did I kick my own ass. SMH, I've got proof I pulled it from a pack...... Shit the bed

I have 2 Gretzky opc rookies. Not knowing any better I got them graded by KSA about 5 years. (I'm Canadian sorry eh 😂) They graded 7 and 7.5. In your opinion Should I get them re graded by PSA or BECKETT or just leave them? I'm 65 and this seems like a good time to move them. Thanks.

Congrats on those! I would say if they look way over-graded, it might make sense to leave as is in the KSA holder. If they look graded about, I would cross them over to PSA.
