Another storm and more washouts to be repaired but MOW crews are on the job! 38 cars were the most I think I have seen on the Hill! A really enjoyable day of railfanning. The ballast is a pretty pink color and there is plenty of it!
The crew of the L'Anse Local had a lot of work to do after starting the locomotives. They had to pull 38 cars out of the Koppers and CertainTeed plants first and then drop those cars in the L'Anse Rail Yard. Then they coupled to the loaded cars for those two plants. Finally, they had to go back to the L'Anse Rail Yard to pull the empties up L'Anse Hill. You did a wonderful job of capturing that work, Nancy! I enjoyed watching this video. Any cargo can go by rail if industry desires so. I look at Brookville Lime outside Saint John where I lived and my Dad worked, they loaded between the two mills 10-15 cars of product a day on a average day. they went to truck with wondering of wear on the highways. when you present the reason to use rail, ask of highway wear if use truck instead. both trains were long.
