I think you’re misremembering some of the first movie, Imhotep didn’t need to jars to restore himself, he needed to absorb the flesh of those who opened the cursed chest. What he needed the jars for is to restore Anck-su-namun and he wasn’t going to put her soul into Evy’s body but sacrifice Evy to fully restore Anck-su-namun. Also Evy did mention she had Egyptian ancestors so her being the descendant/reincarnation of an Egyptian princess isn’t a stretch.
@Sosumaru
@Sosumaru 9 дней назад
I also feel like the visions she is "suddenly having" is due to them almost succeeding resurrecting Anck-su-namun. Like it connected her to the past life.. but that's a reach like the Dunk in Space Jam, xD

I think you guys didn't understand the plot of the first movie. The reason eve doesn't have vision of her past is because it wasn't the year of the scorpion. Her past life was supposed to guard the bracelet which triggered her memory of her past life when she retrieval of the bracelet. Key thing the year of the scorpion and the bracelet. Plus reincarnation doesn't necessary about the same race as past life. Eve also half Egyptians.😅

36:11 in the first movie, Evelyn said her father married her EGYPTIAN mother. Also, pointing out she's "white European" as if she couldn't have Egyptian heritage is ignoring history. Macedonian Greeks ruled Egypt during the Ptolemaic Empire. The Greeks are where the "white Europeans" descended from and migrated to where they are today. If you look in the near east and middle east today, you will see people of every shade, and it would've been the same in ancient Egypt as well.

It's kinda painful watching you misunderstood things. For Imhotep to fully restored his body, he needs to absorb the person who opened the chest. The jars in the first movie have nothing to do with his restoration. The jars contain Anck-Su-Namun organ. He needs it to resurrected her. The reason Evelyn started getting that dream this year was because this is the year the Scorpion King was prophecy to return and Nefertiri was the guardian of the bracelet of Anubis which was needed in the Scorpion King's resurrection. And Imhotep didn't just need the bracelet. He needs the vision provided by the bracelet. That's why he needs Alex alive. Like they said, if he didn't arrive on the pyramid on time, the wearer of the bracelet will die. If they cut the bracelet from Alex, who else will risk their life wearing the bracelet next.

They also said that Imhotep's motivation for killing the Scorpion King and taking control of his army made no sense since he was just a priest, not a ruler. Killing the Pharaoh and taking his girl in the first film clearly showed he wanted to be much more than just a priest and had ideas above his station. It's quite possible that the idea of gaining an army and ruling the world appealed to him and it does fit with the character.

Its mostly the dude. Tara is definitley having fun with it and then he comes in and starts trying to pick it apart. Which doesnt even work since clearly he doesnt have total recall of the first film. So hes trying to nitpick shit that actually isnt a "retcon". Like being able to take out the mummies by shooting them enough. Yeah you cant just shoot them once or twice but if you do enough damage they will fall apart. It was like that in the first movie too. Well except for Imhotep who was immortal. Or complaining about Imhotep reforming and reviving his love easier. Well when Imhotep wasnt dealing with Rick and Evie hiding shit from him and running away, sure it was easier on him. The cult excavated the book of the dead which he needed and he had the reincarnation of Anaksunamun to both sacrifice and serve as a vessel for the original soul.

Aaron, no offence, but a little less yapping and more watching. They literally explain why the events are happening theway they do. Eve had an egyptian mother so her family are the descendents of King Seti I. Nefertiti (Eve) was the protector of the Anubis's bracelet and Eve is having visions because it's the year of the scorpion. Rick literally says that the start of her visions coincide with the Egyptian new year. Since Eve was the protector of the bracelet its not surprising that it opened up for Alex. The sequel is well done and has so many good callbacks to the first one. But you guys spend more time guessing and talking that you miss all crucial details.

I 100% agree. I like Aaron! He’s a nice guy, but he does talk a lot. Which is fine, because it’s a reaction video. But fans are going to expect people that have watched the first film, to understand some parts in the first film. I’m guessing that he thinks too much into it. Some movies I’ve seen him react to I think he would’ve enjoyed more, had he slightly turned his brain off and sat back and enjoyed. Some times movies are meant to just sit back, relax and watch. To not take too seriously. This is one of those films that you need to pay attention to, but it’s also something to not take too seriously. Some people act like they work for rotten tomatoes😂 But I still like Aaron! Realistically, he can do whatever he wants. It’s their channel! A lot of people confuse the whole Anck-su-namun thing from the first one. It's not actually a retcon. Mummy Imotep took the eyes of a man who couldn't see without his glasses, and he mistook Evie for Anck-su-namun. Later in the movie, he tried to sacrifice Evie's soul to resurrect Anck-su-namun and was foiled before the ritual could complete. In this movie, we have the actual Anck-su-namun reincarnated, and Imotep KNOWS which is which.
@KissablePurpleMonkey
@KissablePurpleMonkey 9 дней назад
I don’t think he was mistaken. Otherwise, why would he sacrifice her to resurrect her? I just think he saw a woman and said, “Oh, I have my human sacrifice already.” I don’t think his vision was bad because those eyes were attached to his supernatural, regenerating mummy body.

@@KissablePurpleMonkey In the first movie, he was sacrificing Evie's soul to restore the actual Anck-su-namun's original body to life. In this movie he's trying to restore the soul of Anck-su-namun to her reincarnated body. As for the mistaken identity thing, he called her Anck-su-namun before he was completely regenerated. They really should have had Imotep state that he knew she wasn't Anck-su-namun anymore by the end to make it clearer for people but that's what happens in movies sometimes.

😊 Aaron, you’re my buddy, but you seem to be less forgiving to mummy 2 because they didn’t plan on making a sequel. Let us not forget Empire strikes back was never planned to happen that Darth Vader was the father. They just came up with that idea afterwards in the first movie nothing in that movie indicated that he could’ve been his dad they retconned in the second movie because I thought that would be a cool idea so let’s take it easy on judging sequels because you know they retcon sequels all the time. Also, at the beginning, you may have forgotten. It’s all tied into the year of the scorpion so they using that as the premise that all these, things are aligning. In the first movie, they just found it all by accident.

This movie is silly and memey and such a good time. I still get choked up every time Evie dies even though I've seen this dozens of times now. And just in defense of the retconning - While I agree they did retcon the Evie being Nefertiti reincarnated thing, I think they at least tried to stay within the rules they established in the first movie. Evie mentions in the first movie that her mother was Egyptian so she's not just some random white European woman within the rules of this story. Also, in a universe where ancient curses and raising mummies exists, I don't think it's so irrational to think that there is a concept of fated destinies that would explain how Nefertiti and Anck-Su-Namun would cross paths again. It's just a cool expansion of her story. Also, don't you dare besmirch my boy Jonathan. That man let Anck-Su-Namun kick the shit out of him just so Alex could have the time to bring Evie back. And despite being a bit of a coward and not having any combat training he's a ride or die for his family. Put some respect on his name 😂

Jonathan is such a great comic relief character. Yeah, he’s bumbling and silly and doesn’t know what he’s doing half the time, but he pulls through in a clutch, and he’s as you said ride or die. In the first movie, he pickpockets the key a few times and reads the inscription to get the soldiers on their team. In the second, he keeps the necessary spear the whole time, sharp shoots with the best of them, plays distraction to raise Evie, and sticks around when the world is collapsing. He’s bumbling, but he’s not worthless to the group. He’s kind of the unintentional Macguffin carrier…

'If you're not into it why watch'? It's their first time watching the film, and they get paid to react to it. What are they supposed to do, stop the recording half way through? Sometimes, they watch something for the first time that they don't love as much as others who watched it 20 years ago. Just like how you probably hate things that others love.

I'm more annoyed they because they miss remembered almost all of the first movie and were talking over the explanations so they choose to criticize it instead rather than because they didn't enjoy the movie.

A worthy sequel! The film that helped put Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the map! His role as the Scorpion King in this second Mummy film made the adventure worthwhile by expanding on his backstory and Rick and Evelyn’s son Alex is now joining in on the ride!

The reason why the CGI scorpion king didn't look like the rock, is because Dwayne couldn't be released from WWE to do a head scan or capture his face... So the CGI department had to try their best, shame really...

They weren't too bad on the nitpicking, not as bad as I was expecting them to be by reading the comments prior to watching. They definitely could've enjoyed the movie more without needing to nitpick on all CGI (as it is from the earliest years of CGI) up until the Rock stuff which is understandable, but they can come to understand after finding out the context and bts issues. I will say... the lack of remembering the details of the previous movie hurt their reaction and instantly jumping to things being "retconned" or "ignored" from the first also hurt their watch. Oh and also not listening to the details given in the movie here PLUS having their own lapse in understanding some simple things. ASIDE from all of that, they did backtrack on some criticisms and even stated that they enjoyed the movie more overall.

Suggestion: you should start taking notes. At the end of your reaction, you can discuss about it, and if you get something wrong or missed something there's always good people in the comment section who'll help you get your facts right. That way you can enjoy reacting sequels without misconceptions.

Aaron is copying Roxy and it’s more cringe than anything. He also tries to do those bits in the beginning like everybody does and is so bad at it. He’s just a boring and insipid reactor

The face for the scorpion king was looking like that at the end because the lack of time and from what I think I remember Dwayne was supposed to be there to film some scenes...but he couldn't be there, so they did that with little reference and has you read, too little time...they also thought about making him look like a full scorpion but I can't remember why they didn't went with that, but yeah...

Aaron love you but you kinda didn't observe the details of the last movie, cause as sequels go every detail in the first one was tied to and called back to in this movie. From nefrititi/evies relation to how imhotep actually gains his power even to what imhotep wanted to accomplish with anck-sun-amun by his side. Thankfully when you watch the third one it doesn't need call backs or knowledge of the previous two.
