One of my favorite moments from “The Muppet Christmas Carol” was Kermit looking up at the shooting star during “One More Sleep Til Christmas”. It was in loving memory of Jim Henson, because it was a nod to a similar scene in “The Muppet Movie”.

To me, what makes Muppet Christmas Carol work is how it balanced out the tone of the original Dickens story with the Muppets' humor. It had a lot of funny scenes, but it also knew when to be serious, like when the Cratchits mourn Tiny Tim. Plus, there's Sir Michael Caine, who is already a fantastic actor, but really stood out in the movie. The way he took the role of Scrooge seriously and interacted with the Muppets as if they were fellow human actors on stage.

Rizzo is going back to being a background character like he was in the original muppet show. I’m guessing they’re doing that until they find a new voice. The same thing happened to Scooter,Rowlf,Dr.Teeth and other characters who’s performers left or died or got fired.

This Robin is awful. The original Robin could talk very well, but he was just a little shy, like a preteen would be. Kermit would sometimes need to coax him to speak or sing due to his shyness. It's like the new actor misinterpreted his shyness for being a scared stuttering toddler. I don't know how. It makes me cringe.

Of all the celebrities over the decades, no one gives better interviews than the Muppets. Once, many years ago, Jim Henson was appearing with Kermit on a talk show. Before shooting, a stagehand mic'd Henson, and then proceeded to mic Kermit. Henson just looked at this guy like he was crazy.

Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my all-time favorite movies. I am so glad “When Love is Gone” is in the Disney+ version. That’s how it should be. I watched the full version on VHS growing up and now DVD because that song is essential for a complete story.

Something I recently learned about the movie is that to achieve the effect for the Ghost of Christmas Past, they submerged the puppet in a tank filled with baby oil and recorded the footage. When the baby oil got too expensive to keep ordering, they simply just used water.

@@dillonohlemiller401 I think that's actually wise because this isn't an interview with Dave Goelz, Matt Vogel and so forth. It's an interview with Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo and Robin, so it really makes no sense for them to talk about the puppeteers who are behind the scenes. If it were an interview with Brian Henson, however, it'd make more sense for them to mention this is the first film made after Jim's passing. Indeed, I recall seeing an interview with him on this film where he mentioned that very thing.

@@TimothySaxby to which (funnily enough) most people would actually disagree with. Steve was never an exact duplicate voicewise of Jim Henson, but he was close enough and worked with Jim enough to the point that he really knew how to channel through his character and make it seem like…well, Jim's Kermit. And there were actually points where Steve did in actual fact sound exactly like Jim Henson’s Kermit, to the point where even I would have trouble differentiating the two voices (Steve and Jim). While this wasn’t consistently the case and I could mostly easily tell apart the two, Matt Vogel on the other hand I’ve NEVER not ONCE made that mistake with and to me, always just sounded like…well, Matt’s Kermit. Lol. He has long ways to go but we’re rooting for him, as much as we’d like Steve to return.

Ironic because I'm sure this was what audience's thought when the movie came out 30 years ago when Steve took over. The only performer in this panel that played their respective character in the movie was Dave Goelz. Kermit, Robin, and Piggy were all performed by different puppeteers. Matt is definitely improving in the roll, but it's still an adjustment to be sure.

Whoever is doing Kermit now should be fired. That doesn't sound like Kermit. It sounds like someone doing an impersonation of Kermit who has never heard his voice before and is going off what other have told him Kermit sounds like. Disney really has killed the Muppets, have they?

They fired Steve Whitmire, who was the original performer and voice of Kermit and Rizzo. I don't think Rizzo has appeared since 2016, so he was never recast.

Besides, your information is inaccurate as Rizzo *appears* in Muppet Haunted Mansion (silent cameo) and has been revoiced in Muppet Babies by Ben Diskin (granted it was as a child variant).
