The Muppets Take Splash Mountain: What Could Have Been

Love the creative idea that would have made the massive changes to the exterior unnecessary. I think the main problem changing it over to a princess theme is that your target audience for the attraction is too young for the "scary" drop. They've gone to elaborate effort to tone down the height to make it look less scary. The Muppets definitely would have appealed to a teenage and adult audience similar to the original. Probably would have saved them a ton of money on the remodel and given our beloved felt creatures a great new adventure.

I love the idea! Though I'd name it "Splash Muppets". I'd have the sign look like the "Mountain" part got crossed out to now read "Muppets".

I’d love to see multiple Splash Mountain rides with different themes that could keep the Splash Mountain name intact! Some ideas would include Splash Mountain: Pirates’ Peak (themed to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise), Moana’s Montunui Splash Mountain (themed to Moana), Hakuna Matata Splash Mountain (themed to The Lion King), Jungle Splash Mountain (themed to The Jungle Book), Wakanda Splash Mountain (themed to Black Panther), Muppet Splash Mountain (themed to The Muppets), etc.!

This would be a perfect solution for Tokyo Disney Splash Mountain, as rumors abound which state that Tokyo Disney is being forced into taking down the original "Splash Mountain." This would be a great retheme !!!

This is a fantastic idea!! I would have loved to go on this when I was 4 and as an adult today.

Let’s just make every attraction themed around the muppets, it’d make everything better since the muppets are the best Disney IP

The logs and splash mountain itself here could be connected to kermit's swamp.

I remember that when Splash Mountain was announced the world was anticipating that this would bring peace in the Middle East!

As a Muppets fan and Jim Henson fanatic, I love this Idea! Like you were saying, the Tiana ride makes sense for New Orlean's Square in California, but this is so good for Florida! I might try to recreate this in Planet Zoo or Minecraft.

I love the Muppet themed proposal and think your idea would've been so much better than what Disney went with. Especially in Florida, where it's likely Muppet Vision will end Muppets presence in the parks. Both cheaper, more fun, and probably more popular than Princess & Frog.

I always thought that a Lion King theme would have been perfect as a replacement instead of the Princess and the Frog theme. The last drop could be from the scene where Simba and Scar fight each other at cliff of Pride Rock and the very bottom we see Scar being confronted by the Hyenas. In place of the Boat scene we can see Rafiki holding up a newborn Lion while on the other side we can see the entire animal kingdom 🙇‍♀️ 🙇‍♂️ 🙇.

Disney should hire you.

i dont think we will see muppet vision go any time soon, I work at the Attraction, and we just recently got new seats installed, and updated Waldo projections on the walls, which must have taken lots of money, and due to this I know that they are trying to maintain this attraction!

They went with more in the swamp of the bayou vibes rather than actual New Orleans which fits that area great

as excited as i am for tiana's bayou adventure, this was such a creative and fun idea! i think a muppets treasure island retheme could've worked well for this attraction too, or even on tom sawyers island :-)

I was thinking that they should retheme the Paradise Park area into a land based on the Muppets and no Little Mermaid is staying because I like that ride. The first attraction is The Golden Zeppelins which will be rethemed to Pigs in Space from The Muppet Show, The 2nd attraction is Goofy's Sky School that will be rethemed to The Electric Mayhem Band instead of Airplanes you will be riding The Electric Mayhem van and will send into madness through L.A. and will have a new show scene with the van making it in time to the Muppet show performance, The 3rd Attraction is Jumpin Jellyfish which will be rethemed to Gonzo instead of you on a Jellyfish it is a chair supposed to represent Smoke because we go up in the Sky because the chain got launched from the Cannon, The 4th Attraction is Silly Symphony Swings that will be rethemed to Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker and attraction is supposed to be about Bunsen and Beaker ceated a new swing system for his lab and lets the guests try it and the Pizza restaurant in Paradise Park will be Pizza Rizzo from Disney's Hollywood studios in Florida

I want to see Kermit and his frog family in the swamp! Would be great!

I think you're actually somewhat mistaken regarding Tiana's not fitting in Frontierland. In fact, I'd argue Splash Mountain was a worse fit! Here's my logic: Princess and the Frog takes place in Louisiana, which is on the Western end of the Mississippi River, whereas Splash Mountain took place in Southern Georgia. Tom Saywer's island is based on the Mark Twain's home in Mississippi. In between them is the Rivers of America, where the Liberty Belle Riverboat runs. Plus, the west end of Louisiana actually borders the eastern end of Texas, so while I was also somewhat apprehensive of Splash Mountain's retheme into Tiana's, it actually does work! Even so, I did love your concept! The Muppets haven't gotten a lot of love from Disney, so I really appreciated seeing you suggest what could've been a really fun idea!

Perfecto! Another would be to replace Star Tours with a Muppet attraction to go along with Muppets 3D.

With the issues surrounding Muppetvision 3D long term, I feel pressure has to be put on management to decide on a long term muppet parks presence. I think options are either 1, Muppet expansion near rock and rollercoaster (rethemed to the Mayhem of course) 2, Allow the muppets to take over animation courtyard in Hollywood studio including a rebuilt theatre and HD clean of muppetvision 3D plus another ride and restaurant with a rowlf animatronic playing the piano. 3, Muppetvision 3D moves to the imagination pavillon at Epcot taking over the "vacant" theatre. A crossover scene with Figment would be nice but kinda unnecessary. 4, Muppetvision 3D is listed as a historic building and unable to be removed or allowed to decay. My worry would be we are left without a Muppets Ride or presence in the parks and that would be a tragedy!!!

Fun idea. Except that the Walt Disney Co. won't even spend the money to produce a second season of MAYHEM, much less re-theming one of the biggest draws in their parks with the Muppets. Disney doesn't care about the Muppets. They don't exactly *regret* acquiring them, but they are obviously placing them at rock-bottom on the priority list. Doing just enough to keep the property on life-support, but that's about it. Their problem is that the Muppets were NEVER a good fit for Disney. The entire production process for the Muppets is far too chaotic and talent-driven. That's not Disney's m.o. (no matter what their public face will tell you). Disney IS formula. Muppets are not. And any attempt to make Muppets into formula reads false. Long story short...its fun to imagine, but there is less-than-zero percent chance that this could have been an option.

Where were you when they greenlit this current abomination? A good idea like yours could have saved a beloved attraction without costing millions of dollars.

I say Splash Mountain would have been rethemed to Bambi since Bambi has no attraction in the Disney parks.

This would have been so much better because we'd still have all the awesome animatronics I stead of just the few Tiana's will have. And it could still be a mountain. Splash Mountain was visually impressive, but all the work trying to make it not look like a mountain stripped all that away. Now the exterior looks like a mess, and makes the attraction look like a dud.

But the muppets dosen't go with it either smh 😮
