It's worth noting that if you've not seen them before, what you are witnessing isn't merely a cover band. Rather, it is an exact replica of the concert the way it was played originally. So if you saw them in the 1970s and you go to a show that is one you saw before, it will be like experiencing it the first time all over again. They take this to amazing extremes and have had the help of original Genesis band members in getting it right. From slide shows running in the back, to the light sequencing, to the chit-chat between songs, which is copied exactly as well as the fussing with the instruments in the original shows. They've done painstaking research and the experience is literally like a time machine and unforgettable.
I just saw them two weeks ago in Sacramento. Hell of a show. Played off most of the early albums. Ended the show with lead singer in red dress and fox mask.
I've always been skeptical of tribute bands, even a bit of a snob about it. I've watched these videos and I certainly would have believed it was a video from the classic 70's band. UNCANNY! They are back in Indianapolis again (they were here just last year if I recall) and I AM GOING!!!
First time i saw a guitarist talent like HacketT in my All life please glasses like Steve man i saw Hackett first time in Montreal and Hackett playing with fucking Guitar Historic from Thor or a god named called Steve Hackett
I cant be doing with this hyper accurate reenactment stuff. A few costumes maybe but they can leave the verbatim stuff out. I really couldnt care less whether Tony Banks picked his nose in `73 and I am sure neither can Tony Banks. Its just silly. They are excellent musicians and they should let this wonderful music speak for itself.
I know I'm prejudice, because this is my favourite Genesis track, but they bit off more than they could chew. The drummer, and keyboardist can't seem to mesh properly. At least the bassists was still able to be the solid Anchor. I wish they hadn't touched this. 'tis almost an insult, rather than a tribute.
It was a faithful rendition yes, but for me the drummer is too clumsy sounding and too forward in the mix. Guitarist and singer understand the subtle nuances of timing in the original but the drummer always plays on the beat whereas Collins would play just in front or behind the beat for effect. Keyboardist is pretty good but not exceptional. This is just an observation and not criticism as it's such a hard song to nail and they do a pretty good job, plus it's nice to see a band keeping the music alive. Kudos.
