I went to a concert yesterday and the venue had posters from past shows, and there was a CHON poster. It was kind of bittersweet to see. I was kinda hoping for some like.. analysis of writing and/or playing techniques that highlight and or explain what makes him so good.
Fair enough dude. I'm very not with it when it comes to actual music theory but this series is more mentioning and summarizing the whole idea and careers of different artists.
I love the shameless drooling over chon lmao. I used to be like you scouring the internet for anything i could find about them because i was so obsessed💀 Mario is definetely a genius. I remember reading somewhere that he started out on drums and taught his brother Nathan to play
I am honestly in so much awe of his playing. The lead run at the the end of splash, and the solo from dew just to start. Both of those songs changed my entire life immediately without fail not even counting the various other songs. Eric is also insane and they seem to split the solos evenly. Mario's solos are super sweep heavy and soulful, and eric is more experimental and technique savvy. They harmonize in an almost supernatural way and they are why I practice guitar every night. I hope they find creative drive again and tour on their own terms.
This guy is just a true genius for real, he compose like no body on this earth and i totally know my subject. He's a huge inspiration of a lot of people include my self. His technic is just insane in "chord mod" and he's also a total beast when he play solos, we almost never ear any pick sounds, it's just beautiffuly amazing. I don't know what happened to the band and why they choose to make an hiatus but i really hope that they return very quicly, i miss them so much and want to know how much powerfull this guy would be like today
His quick solo on Breathe is more than enough to prove himself as a music genius. It’s sort of an understatement. He is my personal favorite guitarist. I’ve read online that he may not thump, selective pick, or any other technical modern guitar techniques, but the man doesn’t even need to. He’s already too good for that in my opinion. And Mario plays way better than those people that think you have to be a good guitarist by using those specific techniques… He plays with soul and passion, he’s not some robotic technical machine playing notes with no weight behind them. Erick too. And the others as well. Nathan is such an underrated drummer and Esaiah I feel gets over looked by Anthony Crawford for not having anything going for him (no shade to Crawford or for Esaiah, I think they’re both amazing).
Chon is always the first group I think of when I hear "Musical Genius", their stuff completely changed my taste in music just by being that good... I feel like Anthony Crawford shouldn't be left out of any of this too, cuz his basslines are just as genius as the rest of the band, even if he technically wasn't a memeber. I just wish it was easier to hear in some of their songs
I'm planning on start learning guitar and i have both he and Erick as top tier level players, their skills and creativity are a milestone i need to reach before i consider myself a great guitarist. When i'm able to play CHON songs effortlesly i know i'll be ready to start a project and do it professionally, before then i gotta keep practicing.
Loving your videos man! I get so much nostalgia watching them and remembering the handful of times I saw them live in Chicago and Milwaukee. Got to hang for a bit with Mario and Nathan after one of their sets, although a bit awkward they were super chill nice dudes! I would pay mad money to see them live one more time (,: I know a comeback is pretty much non-existent, but I think it's cool their studio drummer Brian Evans said he would be willing to return for another album. Occasionally in his lives he'll play some of the songs and or explain how we wrote the parts which is dope
Ayo? Who are these people claiming that Mario's pretentious and a "dbag"? I've seen CHON live - quite a number of times and have met them. I've met Drew when he was still touring with them and I've seen and met Mario's other band a long time ago from To Each His Own. They are all very chill, respectful, and appreciative of their fanbase. I won't call your claims to be deceitful or assume these fan statements are liars but it could be possible that the fans whose stories you've had heard about having a sour interaction with Mario - interpreted the vibes incorrectly. (At least I hope that's all that is). I hardly have time to play guitar anymore but CHON was definitely an inspiration to my writing and will always be one of my favorite bands to listen to.
@@eeeeja2160 I agree I think people just assume mathrock = pretentious. Pretty much anyone I talk about mathrock to in real life they say it's pretentious and I don't get it!! I obviously don't agree with that XD
My dad wont agree with me that hes a good guitar player...he keeps saying hes just a piano player and hes just playing piano video game music on guitar 😂
