In the movie "Blood Glacier" Earth's ice caps are receding fast. Faster than the bleakest of predictions planned out. A small station containing a handful of scientists were tasked with identifying and uncovering any issues that may arise from the planets warm temperatures. As the Ice began to pull back, red patches began showing up appearing almost like blood. What was contained within this red hue is what we will be talking about today!

@@RoanokeGaming combining entertainment with factual accompanying lessons is one of the best way to teach imo. I absolutely dominated one of my biology exams because of Parasite Eve. We had the lectures and then the game just confirmed a lot of the things that was already said and it just stuck. Don't know if something like your channel could work in an actual school format, but it could be adapted at least.

I called the "Abomination" the "Puppy Baby", and I kinda took it to be Hope: hope that not everything this parasite creates is a murder machine. It was created by love, not a violent act like the other ones (dog was trying to help its master, and its master loved it), and I imagined Puppy Baby growing up to help people in the hellscape that the world was going to become with the intelligence of man and the loyalty of a dog. Of course, with our luck, it'll have the Intelligence of Dog, and the loyalty of Man.

there is actually a blood glacier, its just the red color is caused by algae. but it is in antarctica. and it's not that big actually. but around here in new england sometimes you can see colored ice flows coming out of the rock faces where workers blasted out a passage for the highways. usually these are either minerals, algae, or photosynthetic bacteria. there's also a pink bacterial film that can grow in places where the water has a high iron content, like the old pipes in my building. XE and then there's watermelon snow, which, if you eat it, will make you throw up. it contains algae that make toxic substances that induce vomiting. no seriously.

i wouldnt say this was found in the ice, its something that got out on its own from melted ice happens in real life, there was a frozen body that was thawed and it spread an old strain of anthrax that killed a bunch of people in the area the threat of old viruses (not ancient, just old) is a real threat and a scary one at that

In the 80's there were a sub-genre of melting horror. In the last ten years there has been quite a few expedition horrors, true. Heavy bodily mutations. The other side of the same coin is the Lovecraftian sub-genre. Bodies fused together etc.

Its was basically the 70´s of evolution. Colourfull, weird, and looking like an LSD trip. I always find it interesting how life looked so weird and with this very "prototype stage" look to it. It always fascinates me that it really does look kind of primitive. You can tell its from that time or has survived from that time just by the looks of it. But pre Cambrian was even weirder from what little we can tell. Animals that looked even weirder, and stuff like these things that looked like plants, but were animals and grew in fractal patterns.

Have you ever considered reviewing the nanobot plague from Generator Rex? Might seem silly, but the planet was covered with Nantes and people became ticking time bombs, randomly turning into horrific monsters. This video made me think of that because everyone was infected, but maybe the nanites in a person’s body were trying to communicate and create a unified blueprint, so the person would only transform if they nanites gestated long enough, and then they’d get a seemingly random conversion. It was later revealed that Rex had the ability to give the nanites instructions, hence his ability to change at will. I have a theory that they way most people mutate is a survival response and then the nanites rolling with it. Like the giant with 100 faces, maybe the guy slipped in the shower and the fall-reflex took over. Or the guy who put the world in a coma, maybe his sickness/cancer? Maybe he was getting chemo or radiation and the sickness went all ‘fuck-you!’

I actually had a theory about this when I first saw it. Most of the hybrids tend to be very aggressive except the dog human hybrid and I was wondering why. Then it hit me the other creatures were bug mixed with other animals such as birds and mammals except the dog human hybrid was mammal and mammal. Maybe the aggression comes from the difference in animal classes.

That’s a generally decent conclusion to make, but there also could be an issue of the “nature” aspect of behavior. Dogs have been bred for cooperation with humans and humans by default are meant to be a social species.

I remember watching this on the syfi channel once when I was sick. I'm glad it's a real movie and not a fever dream😅. But then again the syfi channel often cut things out for tv viewing or darken it so much you can't see the monster.

0:38 pet peeve, people really need to stop using knives as if they're ice picks. Not only is this an easy way to get cut if you slip but you'd be surprised how easily the tip of the blade can snap off when stabbing ice (even if it doesn't seem like that hard of a surface.) It's like movies are trying to teach people bad habits with dangerous tools.

@@joshuavidrine889 the movie, even today, leaves me very disturbed, it's a mockumentary and there are genuinely distressing scenes somehow way worse than many parasite movies I've seen. One of them is audio only, only heard from the police radio and you can hear an officer go into a house and overhear the people in the house groaning and one struggling to speak saying "Shoot me, Shoot me" (but his tongue has been eaten and you can definitely tell by the way the guy is saying it) Even writing this comment made me feel sick to my stomach as that's one of the scenes that still makes my heart sink
