The man who shot her was a veteran suffering from PTSD and shot her in defense because firecrackers sound a lot like shooting. His voice regretting his actions can be heard in game if you stay still on one place in a specific room.

Spooky: Good luck making it through 1000 rooms *proceeds to go through 1000 rooms* Also Spooky: You weren't supposed to do that.

My impression of Spooky was that the ghost are created through an tragic enough deaths. CAT-DOS seems to imply that this was the intention all along of gathering the monsters together. They are measured by how likely they are to not only kill people, but also how likely they are to create ghost for her army. Specimen 11 even has listed "not effective as victim's souls do not remain after contact."

I feel bad for Spooky. I'm a softie when it comes to tragic backstories.

Why does spooky's design remind me of Adventure Time?

Cabin in the Woods wasn’t inspired by SCP Foundation. Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard have always been pretty open about what were influences behind that movie and there’s no hint they’re even aware of SCP Foundation. The only connection is they’re both facilities that contain monsters, but it’s more likely any similarities are accidental

I just thought of something, what if spooky killed her father, but because the second device wasn’t turned off he stayed as a ghost and kept her from leaving the mansion. I believe that this ghost is who you fight at the end of the game, and he tries to trap people who go into the mansion within a shrinking hallway and kill them himself in a way that prevents them from becoming a ghost

She is a cute ghost with a mansion of funny jumpscares and demons like actual demons

By the time I got to 1:48 in the video, I started noticing the similarities of SHJSM and Portal. 1. The previous explorer reminds me a LOT of Doug Rattmann, with their drive toward madness. 2. Spooky also kind of reminds me of GLaDOS. I mean, they’re both antagonists with a tragic backstory. Also, when you get to Room 500, the clip of Spooky’s dialogue once again reminds me of GLaDOS’ sadistic curiosity on how you are still alive when you get to her chamber. And no, I haven’t played SHJSM _yet,_ but I’m planning on it; though I _have_ played Portal, and am currently onto Portal 2. Just a thought... not like I’ve compared Chara from Undertale to Spooky or anything... Also in room 1001 you can find The Vault. Eh? Eh?? Get it? Because they’re both named- nevermind... I'm at a friend's house, and I've been watching him play sjsm for a while. So today, we were doing endless mode, and he survived 2/3 (I can't remember), 4, & 10 at the same time, and now he feels like a god.

A great video, but I would love you to go through each of the unique "areas" and explain exactly what happened there, as well as throwing in references. Things like the fast food chain and the space station area.

wow i was seriously just thinking about this game last nite and was watching John Wolfes playthroughs of it, to try and get a better understanding of it and see why it felt so scary, yet not scary. anyways yah great job and thanks! i really hope we still get "build your own mansion" fingers crossed!

The story behind it's haunted halls is truly one of unimaginable suffering and true guilt and regret.

What if the resurrection machine that brought Spooky back was what caused the electrical problems mentioned in the specimen files, causing the breakouts, killing the scientists, preventing it from being turned off? Just a thought.

Actually, Spooky's costume is based on Poe's story: The Masque of the Red Death, or The Red Death. It's pretty good if you wanna read it!

This video was fairly well made, and it least you got many of the facts of the story right but there were a few details missing. For instance, the person that killed Spooky in the 4th arcade machine cutscene, that person specifically was suffering from PTSD as they were mentioned in the good ending of the Karamari Hospital DLC. The note next to the exit key at the end of the DLC changes depending on if you get the good or bad ending (which you get depending on how many monsters you killed with the sword.) Also if you were curious the Dollhouse DLC, it is planned to release late 2019 or early 2020, but there is no exact release date as the devs don't want them to have a strict deadline and having it end up rushed or unfinished. Otherwise I'm glad that some people still care about this game, sadly it died off mostly and the community is really small now, but videos like this give me hope that more people can learn and play about this game. Hopefully some extra people become a bit more passionate or at least try this game out due to this video, I really want this game to thrive a bit more one last time before development on it stops after Build-Your-Own-Mansion comes out.

I saw this game on Steam without having any prior knowledge of it. Also, being the dumbass I am, I didn’t bother to read any of the info on the steam page. I just thought I’d be in for a fun time with mock horror game with cartoon graphics. My little brother, who was watching me as I played it, didn’t sleep that night after I encountered the first few monsters
