@@NotLikeUs17 We use the term "Ghost writer" very loosely now days. But the actual definition is an UNCREDITED writer who writes for someone else to pass it along as if it's their own original work. Most if not all of Drake's writers are credited, no one reads the credits, so they are shocked when a reference track comes out. That's the difference when there is plagiarism in college, or cheating. It's MANDATORY for you to create your own original work, and if it's not your work then you must PROPERLY cite it.

If we are going to take people at their own words, Drake would be disqualified as a songwriter. His own words: 1. "I'm not a good singer, my biggest talent is writing" 2. @@lvernon9471 Hov has had writers write more than a hook in his more recent years. He is very busy, and has less time He also has written for others earlier in his career. Its common for rappers to pay their dues by writing for legends and their mentors, then a newbie returns the favor wants you are now a legend. Drake, Wayne, Snoop, Jay, and Nas have done this. DJ Hed recently confirmed this is a typical tradition for most MC's. Some like Big Sean, Kendrick, and Em have wrote for other legends but still write their own bars.

I am a bigger Kendrick fan than Drake, but I do like Drake too. I think if you are a solo lyricist then you are a superior rapper than someone who collaborates with writers. But if you do have proof of writing for yourself and others, like Drake has, I still respect you. People don’t want to accept the truth that Jay-Z and other greats have collaborated with writers, because by this rule they aren’t allowed to be considered top tier or the best rappers. Or forced to accept that Drake qualifies just as much as Jay-Z does. DJ Hed spoke on this recently and thinks rappers should collaborate with writers more often so we can have better quality music created. He said everyone can’t be Kendrick, who I think is brilliant and likely a child prodigy being that he graduated high school with straight A’s. This isn’t new, technology and the internet expose the truth easier now days. It’s always been this way, just hidden. “Rappers Delight” by Sugar Hill Gang was actually written by Grandmaster Caz.

There IS one solution: Transparency. The artists THEMSELVES are making it a significant issue because unlike rnb singers, they use “ghostwriters” and not “writers”.
