David Adams explores the stories of the African pharaohs in Sudan. Sudan is one of the remaining frontiers in the world. Once upon a time, this vast desert country was home to a sophisticated and intriguing civilisation. An ancient monarchy that was Africa's crown jewel. Egypt was previously ruled by a kingdom. Kush is the name of a kingdom. On a journey into the land of the Black Pharaohs, David Adams goes down the Nile from Lake Nasser to Khartoum in pursuit of the enigmatic country of pyramid builders and sun worshippers.

These folks are still trying to act like the only black pharaohs ruled during the 25th dynasty when the truth of it is that blacks not only ruled in Egypt through multiple dynasties, but they founded the civilization.

Other Pharaohs have different skin tones. Egyptians were multi-racial, there were dark and light skinned rulers. Pharaohs of 25th dynasty are the only CERTAIN Black Pharaohs. I agree, he shouldn't distinguish them as 'African' Pharaohs. Most Pharaohs were Africans. But that doesn't mean they were Black.

@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 Then how do you account for Khufu (Cheops), second pharoah of the FOURTH dynasty...the one known for the Giza pyramid ? He was very dark/ CERTAINLY Black AND he was from the OLD Kingdom. I would love to hear your explanation.

@@cocoapuff134 1) ' He was very dark' - Please, show me your source. There are no contemporary images of him, only small statue made many hundreds years after his times. In fact we have images of his family members like Prince Rahotep and his wife he with reddish skin, she with light skin. 2) Even if Khufu was Black, that doesn't change anything. I never said there was no Black people in Egypt. Egypt was mixed society. Some Egyptians would be viewed as Black today, but many others would be not. Classify Egypt as Black is like classifying as such US - it does not hold up. Ramesses II was light skinned and red-headed, however I do NOT claim all Egyptians looked like him. Egypt was incredible diverse place with both dark and light individuals.

@@grayrecluse7496 Why did all the ancient greeks call ancient egyptians Black? according to the following eyewitness: Eyewitness to ancient egyptian phenotype: Herodotus: The ancient Greek historian who lived in the 5th century BCE described the ancient Egyptians as having black skin and woolly hair in his work "Histories." Strabo: The ancient Greek geographer and historian who lived in the 1st century BCE described the Ethiopians (a term that could refer to people from various parts of Africa) as having black skin and woolly hair, and noted that some people considered the Egyptians to be of the same race. Diodorus Siculus: The ancient Greek historian who lived in the 1st century BCE described the Ethiopians as having dark skin and curly hair, and noted that some people considered the Egyptians to be of the same race. Plutarch: The ancient Greek philosopher and historian who lived in the 1st and 2nd centuries CE wrote that the Egyptians were "black with heat" due to the climate of their homeland. Al-Masudi: The 10th-century Arab historian and geographer described the ancient Egyptians as "a black people, different-looking and woolly-haired." Jean-Francois Champollion: The 19th-century French scholar who deciphered the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt noted that some ancient Egyptians depicted themselves with darker skin tones than those of their neighbors. Available online: gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k5636837p/f9.item Herodotus: The description of the Egyptians as having "black skin and woolly hair" can be found in Book II, Chapter 22, which begins with the sentence "For my part I hold that the Colchians, the Egyptians, and the Ethiopians..." Al-Masudi: The passage describing the Egyptians as "the darkest of all humans" can be found in Volume 1, Chapter 3, on page 52 of the edition I consulted. Jean-Francois Champollion: In his "Lettre à M. Dacier relative à l'alphabet des hiéroglyphes phonétiques," Champollion does not use the term "black" to describe the ancient Egyptians. Rather, he argues that they were of African origin, based on linguistic and cultural evidence. The full text can be found at the link I provided earlier. In his work "Bibliotheca Historica" (Historical Library), Diodorus Siculus proposed a theory that the Egyptian civilization had Nubian origins. He argued that the culture, religion, and knowledge of the ancient Egyptians had been heavily influenced by the indigenous people of Nubia. He based this hypothesis on his observations of the similarities between the two cultures and the existence of Nubian elements within Egyptian society and religion. I guess al Masudi, Strabo, aristotle diodorus sicilus and plutarch are not credible too huh? What about the man who deciphered the hieroglyphs himself calling them negro africans, Jean Francois champollignon? You Euro-centrist are absolutely delusional.
