Once again, I am grateful for the initial kick RU-vid gave me when they recommended me one of your videos for discovery. I am from then subscribed and this video came in through notifications, and yet again I am not disappointed in the sheer quality your content provides. I watched this event unfold in TV, one monolith was even discovered here in Czechia (you even managed to draw that in the map of the world, I even rewinded to confirm), so I can safely say that the Utah monolith truly inspired almost the entire world. Seeing it unfold again in your video is a blessing. Your narration is unbeliveably calming and straight to the point. That's what I like.

@@ohno8398I think: They’ve seen all the horror where people literally die in hellfire for the slightest transgressions whether actual or otherwise that can ONLY be explained as devilry far beyond the control of any human being and are like “what have I got to lose.” Experiencing people lynched and tortured for the most inexplicable reasons has got to reuse your psyche so significantly that you would do anything in your power to tread the most well-worn, predictable and understood path. The childhood games/pastimes of superstition like “Don’t step on the pavement cracks” takes on an entirely more sinister and serious quality if your lived experience regularly involves otherwise inexplicable broken spines or whatever negative consequence is a part of the superstition to the point that you “become water” in the sense that you choose the path of least resistance or never deviate from the approach of successful forbearers. As quirky and amusing as it may be to some, these are the remnants of seriously unspeakable experiences on a widespread scale over decades and the lasting complex PTSD and scars left behind that will continue for generations. There’s no one particularly simple explanation and certainly no simple remedy or recourse.

Matty Mo sounds so good damn narcissistic I got secondhand embarrassment 😂 loved the shut down by the interviewer after he called himself the most famous artist. Saying ~you can be whatever you believe yourself to be~ was a sad attempt at recovering from that shut down. There’s also no way he’s the original creator, his pattern of jumping on existing trends suggests he just hoped to make profit on a new viral topic. Doesn’t seem like the type to wait that long for potential social media attention, especially as there was a possibility of it not being discovered for a LONG time.

I'm guessing that the damage to the environment would have been from people walking on certain patches of soil that contain a biome of bacteria/lichens, etc? I absolutely believe in environmental protections, but conversations on this topic fascinate me and I think are very important to keep having. I got a little sad when the hippie heroes that removed it said "leave no trace" like, they're correct, but I want to tell him, dude, you came into this world via the same processes as the trees, lizards, moss, bears, etc... we are hurting the environment yes, but we are also living critters, and it's sad when people seem so entirely unaware of that fact.

It’s not really lichens, sandstone erodes very easy and fast when stepped on which in turn degrade the whole rock, there’s also tide pools formed when the rain pours, which are very complex ecosystem composed of insects, shrimps (sometimes thousands in one puddle) and other critters who really don’t like gasoline or oils coming from cars. Also since the place is very dry the few plants and bushes there take decades to grow large enough to be able to reproduce, things are very very slow in the desert
@mommy2libras
@mommy2libras 2 месяца назад
If you think it was as simple as just an issue of people walking "on certain patches of soil", you're ridiculously wrong and not using common sense at all. This is out in the middle of the desert where people almost never are. Suddenly there's a couple hundred vehicles driving in, destroying the landscape on the way in, creating ruts, maybe dripping oil or coolant. Then you have the people themselves who inevitably end up at the very least needing to use the bathroom out there but the bigger a-holes leaving bits of trash. Something that should have been immediately obvious was the fact that it was originally found because environmentalists were doing a survey of big horn sheep from the air- because they don't like to contaminate the environment but also not disturb the wildlife. That many people out in an area where these animals- who stay way the hell away from people- have made their home would cause them huge anxiety, running them off the area, probably affect the mating. And how long until some jackass was trying to run after one to get a picture or even try to pet it? Surely you've seen the picture of the moronic "influencer" -who should lose her license to use a phone at all - walking right up to one of the bison in Yellowstone because obviously the world can't live without another picture of her and in this one she believes she's some sort of Disney princess. There's plenty of other animals out there as well that would be affected. Just because a space exists in the world doesn't mean you have every right to put yourself in it, dirty it up, and then move on once you've used it up and made it ugly.

From what I can see in this video, Matty Mo has a body of work that involves slapping paint on urban walls in a not especially inspired manner, then crowing loudly about it. Paint isn't expensive and doesn't require much skill to work. Stainless steel sheet is a different animal, very expensive and difficult to keep from buckling. It seems unlikely that Mo took this radical departure from his normal oeuvre to choose an especially expensive and difficult medium, then place it in a very remote location without telling anyone of his plans until years later. In a word: balderdash.

13:17 I think the movie '2001: A Space Odyssey' does not give proof it was of alien origin. Does anyone really think Aliens are watching that movie and replicating it?

Matty Mo strikes me as a “weird for the sake of weird” kind of guy who passes himself off as an artist. I’m not saying that he doesnt have talent. He clearly is. It just feels like everything he makes is beyond superficial. It’s like, sure, you’re catering to the lowest common denominator, but is that really what you want to do? If Matty Mo actually made the monolith, he would have stamped his name all over it.

Maybe it was a memorial and they callously destroyed it. Maybe the art was showing how destructive we can be, from the initial installation to tourists trampling the area and it's inevitable destruction/ vandalisation Maybe it's to show how destructive we can be to things and ideas we don't understand

These mean something but not too sure,if its a publicity stunt the maker don't do a good job of making themselves known,there was one 20 miles outside of Las Vegas and it was removed by law enforcement,claming it was attracting people to a dangerous remote 6,000 foot summit.That monolith was discovered by search and rescue.Once again if a publicly stunt,it was a terrible job of proclaiming a statement, because there never was one.

You burn in the Mekong to prove your worth Go long, go long, right over the edge of the earth You try to hold on to reason Why can't you see that you're leaving? My love for you knows no distance And I was runnin' far away Would I run off the world someday? Nobody knows, nobody knows And I was dancing in the rain I felt alive and I can't complain But no, take me home Take me home where I belong I can go where no one else can go I know what no one else knows Here I am, just drowning in the rain With a ticket for a runaway train And the river flows beneath your skin Like savage horses kept within And all is wasted in the sand Like breaking diamonds with your hand i know its up for me if you steal my sunshine blackhole sun won't you come and wash away the rain

What is “light painting “ ?

Im guessing it refers to long exposure shots using lights to "paint" trails or patterns into the photo.

There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Mo had nothing to do with the original monolith. Just a hipster con man working his grift on gullible trend chasers.

In Yiddish folklore we have stories about the town of Chelm, which is inhabited completely by fools. Everyone in this video clearly grew up in Chelm - from the dolts worried about dirt being disturbed to the fatuous nudnik "artist" Mo. (Hej Mo - I self-identify as a multi-millionaire, so does that mean my $1 notes are actually $100s? lol). Also love the guys who run around the desert on their dirt bikes being SO worried about environmental impact (on dirt) LOL Fun vid, made me laugh.

1) that's an obelisk, not a monolith. Whoever named it is getting a dictionary for Christmas. 2) it's either an art installation or made by a paranoid schizophrenic as some kind of antenna.
