You can add Jimmy Horton's 1993 car that sailed straight out of Talladega to the list of most mangled cars after a non-fatal accident.
@runrafarunthebestintheworld
It's incredible how relaxed NASCAR's testing rules where in the early 2000's but I guess that's why they stopped there relaxed testing because of testing crashes and the fact that safety workers don't arrive too fast. It still would be cool if they where able to test at Daytona at least I'm sure more teams would try to qualify for the 500. Too bad there's a charter system though.
@51397fireman
@51397fireman Год назад
Nascar got rid of teams testing because of cost, not safety. Allegedly most of the changes nascar has made is to ease the cost on teams, tho it seems like they try to make it more exclusive/expensive.

Also, don’t forget that the track configurations are sometimes different at the tests (like the tire barrier that caused Shane Hall to flip) as well as non-nascar tracks like Road Atlanta that don’t have nascar-level safety.
@D4nkfury

Ive found a lot of drivers refer to the wall in general as "the fence" Biran robably meant he cleared the wall, which is much more realistic
@johncalla2151

I think there was something wrong with that backstretch wall at Rockingham. I suspect it wasn't 90 degrees perpendicular to the track surface. It was common for cars to launch up that wall.

The Biff needs to remember a couple of things... 1) safety crews at test days what you pay for. The team pays the track to use it, and part of that cost is the safety crew, you want more, you can get more, for a price. 2) at test days, usually the infield care center is not staffed. there SHOULD be an ambo on scene. Again, you get what you pay for. But if he was concerned, he should have asked for care.

Vicker's car has nothing on Michael Waltrip's Busch car from Bristol. For those unfamiliar with it, he hit the end of the wall holding the old cross over gate on the back straight. He went from full throttle to stopped dead in mere feet. What was left looked nothing like a motor vehicle. It's here on RU-vid.
