The Guy the missed the penalty for Romania, got hells abuse when he went back home. But once he retired from football he opened a pub near his home town and called it ? Penalty. 😂
it's fucking ridiculous all this abuse nonsense just over a poxy missed penalty, so fucking what? those people need to grow up and get a life , fucking idiots!!! it's just a bloody football game not the end of the world, I bet they wouldn't be so cocky if they were to take a penalty on a big moment like this in the world cup finals
We have become a force to recogn with😊 In the 3:0 game the ref was bought, biased and crap together. You were very lucky. Goal which wasnt a free kick. Our goal disallowed etc etc etc..
The day i realized am irish, not protestant irish, northern ireland isn my team, ireland is, the nation will always hold its breath for you, jack lad, rip, legend
A quite remarkable achievement, reaching the World Cup quarterfinals without winning a game outright. Ireland at Italia 1990 sure didn't know how to lose.
I’ll never actually forget this day and I have a brain injury!?! We still all talk about it!?! A load of plastic paddies and we managed to get to the quarterfinals of the World Cup!?! Ah great memories!?!
My fave part of this video is how the IMMORTAL line was jammed in there without any sort of gravitas. Woeful editing performance starts @1:13. Blink and ya miss it.
Jack Charlton a fantastic innovative manager.. a man before his time.. what makes teams great now? Togetherness and a high tempo. Jack started it all off, even put down by a journalist called Dunphy who said he left out great players, namely one Liam Brady who was great but Jacks system was so complete and yes simplistic there was no room for individuals. Keep on pushing keep n pushing keep n pushing., It's not going to be easy for us but it won't be easy for them either, we'll PUT EM UNDER PRESSURE and we did, We dismissed England we almost dismissed the Netherlands and yes in that brilliant World Cup in 1990 it took the Italians with one lousy goal to stop us getting to the semi's, Jesus, Schillaci that beady eyed... oh never heard of after the World Cup but remembered for ever. I still can't get that bledy name out of my head Schillaci Schillaci goallllllllllllll damn him. It's the only way to play nowadays but alas the Republic reverted back to the old ways where their mediocre players are shown up and Charlton's wonderful system is lost. It's simplistic format gives every player a focus, as the Mighty Quinn once said to a journalist 'we all know what we are doing' and can make an average team great. C'mon Put Em Under Pressure, We Gotta Game To Win.. long time ago but never forgotten..RIP Jack thanks a mill
Believe it or not, as a German I can relate to that somewhat. We, too, lost the traits that defined our idiosyncrasy and playing style a long time ago. Sure, we managed to win the WC in 2014, but from that point on, the fact that we had forgotten our old virtues began to show. Two first round eliminations in a row, unprecedented for my nation! And we, too, had once a very simplistic yet effective style that gave us the upper hand over two very superior teams in two WC Finals (54 against Hungary and 74 against the Netherlands). I miss those times.
Lol, someone here is so very jealous. 😂 If he was "useless", explain his near 20 years as a professional footballer, winning numerous titles, record appearances & international caps etc.
Only Ireland (with 5 Irish from 13 playing) were lucky against Italy, in fairness. Italy had two perfectly good goals ruled out for offside. Lucky not to be hammered in that game.
