Been a huge fan of Shai since his rookie year. It’s amazing to see how quickly he’s turned into the player he is today. Sucked to see him go in the trade but no regrets ab it
It's also wild that a guy that been averaging 31 points the last two seasons has a career high of only 44 points. That means he mad consistent since he doesn't have games where he went off for 60 upping his average.
So happy to finally see OKC have some success. Had that 'big 3' with PG, Brodie and Melo and they blew it up, for good reason. Watched SGA alongside CP3 that one season then a few years of bad losses to where they're at now. SGA is top 3 globally right now, and the team is special - we OKC fans be eating good this NBA season.
He doesn’t speak publicly much, I’m interested to know if him and the owners regret the harden situation and also the lack of shooters around Russ. I hope they’ve learnt
elite scorer playmaker and defender. just plays the game with so much poise moves at his own pace and just completely dominates every time. hardly any flaws to his game
It's pretty insane that OKC is playing this well rn while still having a boatload of lottery picks at their disposal. The league doesn't just have an SGA problem, it has an OKC problem overall.
love this video. terry rozier is also having a very underrated season. i know lamelo has been out awhile, but seriously look into roziers numbers if you haven’t !
I'm so happy about the future of the NBA, it's in good hands! 25 and under Elites: Anthony Edwards, Luka Doncic, Shai, Jayson Tatum, and can't forget Tyrese Halliburton! Then you got guys like Devin Booker and Nikola Jokic who aren't even 29 yet!
Obviously not ag the level of the guys you mentioned yet but don’t forget about those tall dudes. Both are already top 10 defensive bigs and will only get better offensively
@@Steefbroganoffoutside Jokic all the players he mentioned don't have rings yet. Giannis is already past the majority of those guys right now. My boy Edwards tho, he on the come up getting some great mentoring from Conley Jr.
@@JustMeELC might not be nostalgia from 20 years ago but this team reminds me of the young thunder team from the early 2010s and considering we haven’t been good in a while it’s nice to see. Sad to see ignorant people thinking they know what they talking abt considering how much different my life is in ten years. lol.
What’s up man this was a really well made video, keep it going bruh! I can sense your passion for the NBA and those clips of people speaking is a really nice touch, I’m biased but if you could make a video about Embiid that would be nice lol
Shai would not have had the same development with kawhi as his sf. I think he has been doing this well because of his role as the leader in the locker room and on the floor. Shai came in with Chris Paul and had numbers similar to his rookie year. Granted this was his second season, however, a 12 ppg jump from year 2 to 3 can’t mean he wasn’t that guy in year 1 and 2. It just means he wasn’t getting the touches he needed.
That literally makes no sense Jokic, embiid, Gianni's, Durant, haliburton, lebron, Lillard, Steph, and Tatum are all better or just as good on offense as luka And jokic, Gianni's, embiid, Tatum, sga, kawhi, durant, Edwards, Steph, and haliburton are all players that are OVERALL better than luka lol SGA is at least an actual top 5 overall player... But jokic Giannis embiid and Tatum are all better overall players In what world are they in a category all of their own? Lol
@@ginobjornabrera ya buddy ur definitely the typical delusional doncic dikriders lol Top 5 players don't miss the playoffs nevermind the play IN 🤣 B. You realize the Mavericks have been BETTER WITH LUKA OFF THE COURT THAN ON IT TWO OF HIS 5 SEASONS INCLUDING THE YEAR THE MAVS MADE THE CONFERENCE FINALS RIGHT? Luka has two NEGATIVE ON/OFF DIFFERENTIAL SEASONS... And the other three seasons he was BARELY a positive No other player considered anywhere NEAR the top 5 has EVER had their team be BETTER WITH THEM OFF THE COURT THAN ON IT LOL C. Luka is the worst transition defensive player I've ever seen in my life... He Constantly can't get his fat ass back on defense and leaves his team to defend 5 guys with 4... Which is why the Mavs are better without him on the court half the time D. Other than jokic and stroh who are anomalys offensively... All of the other players near the top 5 are GOOD ON BOTH OFFENSE AND DEFENSE... SOME ELITE... Such as Giannis, embiid, Tatum, sga etc... E. The Mavs might miss the playoffs AGAIN this season, which would finally end all discussion of Luka being anywhere near the top 5 F. I'd LOVE to hear your argument for doncic being better than any of jokic, giannis, embiid, Tatum or sga... The ACTUAL top.5 in the NBA right now
@modernjam VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) is a statistic used in basketball to measure a player's overall contributions to their team, when compared to an average "replacement" player at the same position. So........ OKC been on my watch list.
VORP - Value Over Replacement VORP calculates a box-score estimate of the points per 100 team possessions that a player scores over a replacement player translated to the average team over a full NBA season
I'm taking PG over SGA in a pickup game, but I'm taking Shai to will a team to a win because he's accustomed to an offense depend solely on his creation.
As a huge Kobe fan, who watched all his career and the tail end of MJ's, his career most reminds me of them. Being willing to defend the opponents best perimeter player while at the same time being a 3 way scorer. Add in his ability to read the floor. To me he reminds me most of MJ and Kobe. Yes more than Booker, more than Tatum, Lavine, Murray and Edwards
His game is so crazy efficient There’s no wasted movement One or two moves to get to his spots he doesn’t over dribble He has counters, balance, strength, touch, vision it’s insane
Just on eye test alone...most skilled player in the league. You could argue Jokic, but those two are so different, I honestly can't do a head to head comparison.
I used to feel like I was spoiled with offensive stars back when I grew up watching Kobe enter his prime playing against AI and Dirk... meanwhile SGA is out here being third in scoring averaging over 31 points a game!
Comparing FG % is a pointless stat. Reason is it punishes 3 point shooters and you already have 3 point and FT stats. It should be replaced with 2 point FG%. Tatum actually shoots slightly better than Shai from both 2 AND 3. Tatum is at 56% 2FG while Shai is 55%. Its really just free throws that gives Shai the eFG% edge.
his game is slower, but otherwise pretty much iverson game there. the jumpshot, release, drive layups, step back, fade away to the left, low dribbling, long crossovers etc...slower but taller Iverson. i bet that he did work so much to master Iverson moves
Derozan would make zero sense. They really need a big guy that can rebound because Denver and Minnesota will eat them on the glass in a playoff series. They have to call Orlando who have 3 centers or LAC. Cleveland could also be an option if they decide to trade jarret allen. Or Andre drummond
@@Wrestle_Kingdomexactly, a lot of commentators talking about trades for thunder often don’t understand Sam prestis vision. He doesn’t want one dimensional players, every player on the roster can handle a little, pass a little, shoot a little, take it off the catch, defend. Well rounded high iq players. Everyone on the roster can shoot, even Giddey who everyone says can’t shoot hitting 37%
@@padenelliott5443Fr they won’t understand it and we need a center that can shoot we lead the leagues in drives so flood spacing is essential, would’ve loved if we could’ve signed Naz Reid in the off-season
I still never understand why people proclaim dynasties so early on, at least teams used to have win for dynasty to be in the discussion. But wtf is this, they've made one play in game and they're an automatic dynasty for 10 years? Have you followed this league before? Do you not remember when the same thing was said about OKC in 2012(when they had actually had playoff success). Player movement happens so much that you can't even predict the next 2-3 years
Me and my boy was talking the other day, we are heavyy boston fans btw. You starting your franchise around SGA or Jayson Tatum? I lean towards Tatum, but its close for sure and i couldnt argue with you if you chose SGA
it’s really close for sure, i say shai because i think they’re similar level defenders but tatum might be slightly better, they’re similar level scorers but shai might be a bit better, so those basically cancel out as even. but the biggest difference between them is i think shai is a better playmaker by a decent bit, plus he’s younger, so id honestly take shai. but it’s really close
It’s funny that this video started with a SGA/PG13 debate because it’s arguable that SGA is exactly what OKC wanted out of PG13 when they traded for him; AND MORE obviously.
shai also has the best voice in the NBA. that dude gon be on TV one day. I cant find one thing about SGA that i dont like at this point. call me a glazer idc.
Tatum has a lightened load compared to last year. he doesn’t shoot or control the offense nearly as much cuz of KP. SGA is fantastic but especially with Tatum’s elite defense it’s a close comparison not a gapping difference
honestly shai is just as good of a defender at his position as tatum. i think they’re very similar level players but i have shai slightly above because of his more efficient scoring and better playmaking. i think their playmaking ability is the biggest gap between them so i give the overall edge to shai
