Being a university of Arizona alum where Lauri was actually in my class back in 2017 and then also a diehard warrior fan from the bay I would love this
Born in Oakland raised in Newark... Warriors fan since the Days of sleepy floyd. Awesome to see the 49ers and Giants do what they did... liked the Curry draft pick but didn't see it bringing a chip...come on Sharks get one.
some utah insider made a good point on bay area sports radio yesterday … if utah want kuminga from GS then it would be up to them to extend kuminga and give him around 120-150M if not more. kuminga is a RFA next year and if they choose RFA, then they’d be forced to max whatever offer sheet he receives or else lose him for nothing. quigley and franz wagner’s contracts should set the market for kuminga. wonder if utah would prefer a cheaper player (moody) or somebody further away from a payday (podziemski). I don’t doubt that lacob would pay both kuminga and markannen should GS be able to land markannen while keeping kuminga. lacob has spent an average of 170M in luxury taxes alone the past 4 years and was rewarded with a title.
@@jmar6015 I would be too. frankly I’d prob give up kuminga if they ask for him instead bc he’s due for a big payday. I just wonder if utah want to pay him.
@@jmar6015 Honestly, I'd hate to see Moody go, but he doesnt line up with Steph. Unless Steph is this good for another 3 years. Our young guys weren't the problem, it was coaching and Klay/Wiggins. I would not be sad to see Wiggins go, and honestly, Klay already had his mind made up. The Warriors were smart not to sign Klay for 30+mil
If Lauri M wasn't a white Finnish quiet clean cut guy, and played exactly the same, he'd be WAY more known as very good, way more popular. "coolness" and vibe play a huge part in sadly many fans ability to assess things.
Adam Silver and the NBA declared war on the Warriors in 2020 and started all the cap changes we see now! The Warriors grew too big too fast and they had to put a stop to it! There is no way in hell the league is going to let this happen. Repeat...No Way In Hell...Just like they wouldn't let Kobe and prime CP3 play together...Can't have Kobe passing MJ...that just won't do! Can't have Steph passing Lebron...That just won't do....If' I'm wrong I will come back and gladly eat some crow!
This is why, despite him being great, I will never think LeBron is the goat. He left his team, and the league allowed him to pioneer the player movement era. He has went to the build-a-bear factory for every single title he has. Then again, we cant have our 'chosen one' keep failing can we? Lebron to the Lakers (the most coddled franchise receiving the most coddled player) was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately for the league, the West only continued to get stronger. They for sure despised Steph for how the Warriors dominated, and you can tell by how all the older players like TMac and Isiah Thomas disrespect him. Honestly, Allen Iverson and Shaq are the only guys Ive seen give Steph his flowers. These teams noticed how well OKC and the Warriors built their teams and followed suit. Denver is home grown, the TWolves are home grown, OKC is home grown, Dallas drafted their best player, the Pelicans drafted their best player, the Grizzlies are home grown, the Suns were home grown until they got KD, the Clippers are just a troll franchise, the Kings drafted good players and signed good pieces. The Spurs just drafted the next generations icon. The West is a gauntlet for any team now, and cupcake James would never have the same success as he did in the East, even on the Lakers. Now the facade is fading and no one wants to join the toxic LeBron Lakers.
if the warriors can get markennen without giving up kuminga podz or tjd, they damn well are a title contender markennen is doing so well without a true pg in utah imagine him on the warriors with the best pg of all time, one of the best point forwards of all time and good spacing
If we can get him without giving up Kuminga then im all for it but no way would i give up Kuminga. Thats how you end up in a SGA for Paul George situation. Plus im not so sure Lauri is that much better than Kuminga right now
This video is convincing me for us to trade Kuminga…but gosh, Kuminga is good too man. It’s a weird situation, but let’s see what the Dubs decide…Trust the process, or bet it all?
@josephbryant1666 its a ""bad move for their future"" but curry is 36. they need to make moves to win now lol. kuminga might be better than lauri in a few years but not now. you need to put curry in the best position to win a chip while hes still superstar level. no such thing as a bad trade if you win a chip off of it after all lol.
@@tanaelol and what makes you think we’re going to be winning if we gotta get rid of one of the important pieces he adds a dynamic putting pressure in the paint which we need .
I understand this could make ppl sit up like he said but would Utah rlly trade their best player? Their all-star player? I doubt it. If warriors wants to get him, they gonna have to give up a lot possibly
PG Steph SG Wiggins/Buddy SF Kuminga PF Markkanen C Dray 6 Buddy/Moody/Clarkson? If they can get him and keep the starters they are finals bound. Wigs and Kumi not having to play so big will be a massive win.
First of all, Buddy would obviously start ahead of Wiggins. Second, Dray would be PF, Markkanen would be Center. With that said... it's a pretty scary lineup. Finally, if they are keeping JK in any trade for Lauri, they won't have Wiggins or Moody next year, that's for sure.
Good players wasn't our big problem, but the new small ball strategy where we have just one way of play: move the ball fast over 3pt line until open a good slot to play. Result: teams had no problem to understand what we were doing, start to defend our ball moving and the result of new small ball strategy was: move the ball fast over 3pt line until a turnover or a contested shot with no one to grab offensive rebound. Markkanem will solve this problem? No way! Only Kerr can do it, bring back our pick and roll as strategy to balance the small ball, giving to defenders the option to double on Curry and let one of our players, like Hield to do one uncontested shot, or TJD to pick and roll and attack the basket free. The same old problem they had in 2014-2015-2016: if we keep an eye on pick and roll, Curry will fire us from any place of the court with single guard. If we double up over Curry, they will have 4 good players against our 3 left one to create an uncontested shoot or pick and roll. And we can do this with our actual roster, even if we move Wiggins out to lower luxury taxes.
Think GSWs are unlikely to obtain LM, mainly because Danny Ainge is difficult to deal with and will demand an unreasonable ransom for LM. Doubt LM is going anywhere. The Spurs have enough to get him, but again they're business smarts won't allow meeting Ainge's price. BTW - did you see what the New York Kicks gave up for Mikal Bridges .... Bojan Bodganovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a 2025 protected first-round pick, a pick swap and two second-round picks. Insanity - but it resets the market. I'd take Markkanen any day over Bridges. Markkanen is definitely better and Ainge knows this. What do you think Ainge is going to demand after seeing this market? Even if GSWs somehow manage to convince Danny Ainge to remove the pole stuck in his ass, it is hard to imagine a trade for LM that won't require Kuminga. The idea of having Kuminga and Markkanen is a pipe dream. GSWs don't have a chest full of draft pics or other desirable resources. GSW shouldn't give up Kuminga and Podz (one or the other). Podz had the best +/- on the entire team last year. He really is a foundational pillar with a high basketball IQ who makes others better. Not sure what the exact math is but have a concern that a GSWs trade for LM would deplete the team so much that what is left isn't much better than what we have now. Hope I'm wrong, but again seems highly unlikely Ainge trades LM to begin with.
I'd say the only way the Warriors should do it if the trade is Wiggins, Moody, Podz and draft picks, although not sure how many picks it would take. I suspect the Jazz will insist on JK, though, and in that case I'm not sure it's worth it.
Kuminga isn't going to help us win with Curry and Kuminga is our ONLY young star with all-star potential... we also don't have the most draft picks so our future with Kuminga is wasting Steph's last years and then being mid to bad... you need more than 1 player to rebuild... Kuminga is not eclipsing the likes of Curry and our winning chances with him so don't even mention thinking of the Warriors future unless you plan on trading Curry for young assets... btw, that will get the chase center burnt down by Warrior fans... If you do nothing ... you have no present or future. Kuminga is likely our best young asset for a young rebuilding jazz team. Wiggins, if he can get back to his 2022 form is a better fit than Kuminga for the Warriors alongside Draymond and Lauri since he's a better defender and great 3rd scoring option who also seems to be a more reliable floor spacer. If the Jazz prefer a 29 yr old Wiggins to a 21 yr old Kuminga... I'm still making that trade but I'd prefer trading Kuminga so long as I trust Wiggins to get back to form.
@@goldenphoenix5945 When you said "Wiggins is a better fit than Kuminga" I turned you off! Wiggins is bull$hit, and he'll never get back to what he did for a short period of time in the 2022 playoff run. He's one of the softest players I've seen in the NBA, and I've been watching for 45 years. Guys like Wiggins are dime-a-dozen... guys like Kuminga definitely are not! There's a reason teams want JK, and don't care about Wiggins.
@@cnelsonlv99 Obviously Kuminga has a higher ceiling and he's 21 instead of 29 so that's why teams want him over Wiggins. For such a soft player, he's a hell of a defender and puts down some great dunks every so often. I don't see why he can't get back to his 2022 form since he's only 29 and would be our third scoring option with Curry demanding all the attention. Either way, so long as we keep either Wiggins or Kuminga in a Lauri trade I'm happy. Also getting a Walker Kessler, Robert Williams lll, Mitchel Robinson, or Jarret Allen would be amazing.
@@goldenphoenix5945 Sounds like you haven't watched Wiggins play basketball since the 2022 playoffs, based on your assessment. He's as soft as a marshmallow, especially in terms of his mental toughness. The Warriors should trade him for anything they can get. I said that same thing about Jordan Poole last year. The worst thing the Warriors ever did was giving those two huge contracts after the title run. Wiggins' contract was somewhat justified based on what he did that season, and his decline seems to be connected to personal issues... which is proof that he's weak as f*ck! Poole's contract was never justified!
I’m trading Kuminga for Lauri Markkanen, I love Kuminga but Lauri is more refined, Kuminga still has a lot to learn but he will absolutely become a superstar. Think about it, If both players were not in our team and we had to bring one of them in, who would you choose? Are you choosing the athletic 7 footer who shoots well and has more experienced, or are you choosing a 6’7 player with potential but is still in his raw phase? I think we’re just attached to Kuminga because he’s homegrown but Lauri is our best bet if we want to give Steph a championship ASAP.
Even if they get Lauri and the package is mostly picks rather than JK they still can't pay everyone and it still doesn't make them a contender. They will be demonstrably better than last season but still a long way from actually contending. The biggest thing that needs to happen is a refreshing of the coaching philosophy. Small ball with Dray playing mostly centre has proven to be ineffective for years and years now. Especially defensively they need to pull their head out of the sand and actually realise how much the league has changed. Not only has the switch heavy defence they once employed been copied and then solved and exposed by the rest of the league for it's weaknesses they don't even have the same personnel anymore to try and implement it. Personally I'm just happy that they begun to accept reality and cut the damn payroll down to something more sustainable especially for a team that very well may not make the playoffs again. We saw last season how quickly Steph wore down playing in midget lineups constantly having to guard bigger players and with almost no consistent help offensively. Do we really think him being a year old and coming off playing in the Olympics is going to lead to a better or worse season than that? They made some very smart marginal moves so the games should at least be more entertaining and closer to competent basketball but actual contention seems like a Pipe dream to me.
Well he only has 1year left on his contract he wants to stay in Utah.. so he has leverage.. even if traded with 1 year he could bounce after 1 year and several other teams as well are interested. So good luck with that.. the only way it works if he does a sign and trade for few years.. so if he wants to stay in utah, why would he agree to a sign and trade??? So you give up multiple 1st rounds and your young players your future for a guy that dont want to be there???😮 No way !!!!
Every game you showed the Jazz lost. Lauri Markkanen only plays 50 games a season. Boston, Dallas, Lakers, OKC, 6ers, are all NOT terrified of Markkanen lol Klay is gone... GSW are cooked! And plus the Warriors will not even get Lauri M. I'll put you on game early, jump on the Dallas bandwagon, there's still room!
As a warriors fan I want Lauri for sure. But he can't be our center. Looking at Boston this year the reason why kp is fine at center is because the other 4 starters can play defense. Well still need a better center. Cannot be dray he's too small and old. Trayce and post is still inexperience. Loon is too slow
Giving up Wiggins is s nothing... giving up JK is the problem. You'd for sure give them Wiggins without batting an eye... the question is what else would you have to give up. If they can do Wiggins, Moody, Podz and draft picks... it's probably worth it.
First of all, the NBA has seen this before, and recently... JK is 21, and his stats at 21 are on par with Giannis at 21, and much better than Paul George. So yea... it's a valid concern. Secondly, the Jazz aren't going to trade Lauri for JK straight up... they will still ask for more to be added. So yea... it's a valid concern. JK's ceiling is pretty much through the roof, and ultimately higher than LM.
No. Curry, Hield, Markannen, Green, Looney. They need to come back playing more classical basketball or they are done. There are way too much great centers and PF nowadays, they need size and rebounds.
Greatest guard is hyperbole gone wrong... Greatest statistical shooter... Yes... Great perspective on what he brings offensively... LM is quite easily underrated
If Utah keeps trading away its star players then until when Utah gets to win championships, it’s like they want more draft picks than to win championships. It’s stupid of Danny Ainge
Always love reading these brain dead takes. I bet you were a huge Jordan Poole fan... which is someone the Warriors were very smart to trade away for dog poop, and actually did much better than I ever imagined in that trade. Without Green, this team can't compete with anyone. They need his defense.
I love JK let me say it again I love JK but he can't do this.... JK is on the team and we're playin team you think you're going to miss violent dunks nope he can do that too you think you're missing youth he's only 27 and 7 ft tall and he shoots 43 percent from three oh I forgot and he's already a All-Star it was trying to win a championship with Steph Curry is still in his prime play JK going to be good probably real good but this guy what is good right now and we need right now
