Unbolt, derust, strop the edges, and put them back together. Good as new. EDIT: Might need a little bit of an edge grind if they're really knackered but honing is probably enough.
You've mentioned before that Frank gets weirdly interested in some of the newer iPhones. I'm pretty sure they use infrared dot projector or something as part of camera focus and faceID. I first noticed this when I started welding and went to take a selfie in my welding hood. My iPhone 13's selfie camera will trigger the auto darkening function of the hood. I would 100% bet that an IR projector is what Frank is responding to.
I feel like he only bought the camera so he has an excuse to take more pictures of Frank and talk about her. Not that I blame him, I'd have done the same
James touching the Eee PC, and it instantly functioning, is so on brand. He merely has to observe a piece of tech and it'll start working all of a sudden.
There might be something to do with the fact that modern phones use an infrared laser for auto-focus that ends up drawing Frank to it. After all, thermal vision cameras detect infrared heat emissions, so Frank might be able to see / sense the flashing infrared focus laser on the phone and is thus attracted to it.
wrong infrared for heat, thermal ir is an order of magnitude longer wavelength than the maybe 1000nm ir used for "laser autofocus" however he might be able to see the ir led and be drawn to it anyway. more likely it's the modern phone being hot af with the camera running and interesting frank that way
I agree that the Toldeos can and should be repaired, it's HARD to find quality full metal scissors anymore. My mom has really nice set of sewing scissors that she uses to slice through leather and she maintains them between professional sharpenings by chopping into fine sandpaper and occasionally cleaning with vinegar. It works really well!
I really love the dynamic of Frank being like… your roommate who also pays rent but isn’t like a friend so she just kinda does her own thing and doesn’t really listen to you
Okay but can we appreciate how good those Sony pictures are of frank. Like I'm not even specifically talking picture quality. Im talking like posing, framing, whatever fancy camera words you want to use. They're just great pictures. Something you'd see on a professional Instagram or something. Proper portraits of the frank.
Maybe I'm just too used to cameras on phones but while the Sony pictures win on detail by far, they look very undercooked. Dull and underexposed. It would still win if you punched it up in Adobe Lightroom but by itself (and especially on social media where the images get downscaled and compressed anyway) I would kinda lean towards the iPhone 5C shots, at least those that were actually in focus and without motion blur. Although to be fair he did say, "I don't know how to use this properly."
@@nooneinpartI actually do not like how phone pictures may look in comparison, they look overexposed and/or oversaturated depending on the scenario. But professional cameras typically take duller pictures having more data so you can use software to take advantage of the extra information for better colour grading.
I was completely flabbergasted when i saw that tail poiture of Frank with the Nerf Camera. It looked SO MUCH BETTER than i expecred it to be. It's still awful but i was just so shocked
I don't think it's low light that's the issue, since the one of frank under the pillow didn't look too bad either. I think it's the auto exposure on it being terrible (as auto exposure often is). There is a stark difference between the first one and the others
you should take the famous toledos to a sewing shop and have them fix them up for you. Sewing scissors are meant to be taken in to be sharpened every so often. So they'd probably have the stuff to be able to make them nice again.
Seeing dank pods, go back to his original roots, reviewing crappy technology has genuinely put a smile on my face to this day I still go back and rewatch his old videos, enjoying myself and laughing ride along with him. If you find any more old nuggets, please make videos on them because it really does make my day whenever you release a new one.
Best guess as to why this exists is that Nerf made a blaster with an integrated camera “sight” to record your battles from a first-person perspective around this time; probably just had a buncha parts laying around and made this
I would love if Wade would go back to reviewing headphones. I think the Dan Clark Aeon lineup could give you some good content. They are trash headphones and are a borderline scam.
This reminded me of my Canon Powershot A1000IS, probably from around 2008 or so. The photo quality is pretty decent but the video quality isn't, but it definitely looks like something you'd see on old RU-vid or something. Also, if I had to guess, I'd say that LCD is somewhere around 128x128. Super high definition right there!
I remember the first time I heard a python fart/poo and was absolutrly gobsmacked at how loud and humanlike it was. My roommate at the time and I were watching tv when it happened and we both initially thought it was each other until we looked over at Monty and saw him committing an act of war lol 🤣
7:43 I've never heard someone refer to a snake as "goofy looking", and after hearing that I can no longer think of snakes without thinking they look goofy.
Little tip for when you have gooey rubber on something you want to keep, a bit of alcohol rubbed on it cleans it off. I had written off an old joystick until I saw LGR fixing some rubber buttons with alcohol. I gave it a try and low and behold it became usable
As someone who collected nerf stuff for the better part of a decade, I love that the nuggets (especially the mp3 player) share design cues with the actual blasters of the time. I recall the camera being about 50 USD but I may be wrong. There was also an action camera in the line that shortsightedly didn’t attach to nerf’s attacement rail system, and a standalone package of nerf branded dirty buds.
This was less a NERF nugget review and more a Frank glamour show. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Also hurray for the return of the EeeEeePeeeCEEEee
8:08 looks like a crime drama watching security footage and yelling "enhance" at the screen. Except instead of a murderer or something, it's just a long stinky frank.
I bet with the Frank "drooped" shot, that the 15's Time of Flight sensor's output is something she can see and that's why she reacted to it... Because as I understand it, they emit a light (presumably IR?), measure the time it takes to reflect (round trip), and that's how they measure distance.
I would love if Wade would go back to reviewing headphones. I think the Dan Clark Aeon lineup could give you some good content. They are trash headphones and are a borderline scam.
This was actually a really good comparison of an earlier A7 series to a brand new iPhone 15. Oh yeah, I did refer a friend to your review of the 15 and they were very happy to get a bit of a tute on using it as a video production tool 😊
There was a nerf accessory that turned your phone into a scope for your blasters. It had a ton of janky and unnecessary things you could do with it but it was really fun when I had it. Highly recommend looking into it!
Pictures of UFOs and Bigfoot or Loch Ness monster always look like they were taken with a piece of sweaty lettuce, so perfectly on brand for this Nerf camera. 😂
I remember being a kid in a Toys R Us and looking at these and really really wanting it, but couldn't get it. Now I work as a photographer, funny how that works haha
5:20 From when I last touched a snake - it was one of those "photo with an animal" tourist attraction - I remember it being like a warm, taut with muscles, thick polyethylene bag to the touch.
Came for the Nerf Nugget, stayed for your danger noodle Frank. Also I love the gag of replacing the scissors with larger ones every time they break. Hope to see a set of garden shears or hedge clippers next. Maybe 5 years from now we’ll have a pole saw 😂
Frank is so adorable :3 I used to watch a lot of Nerf modders on RU-vid back in the day and i remember there being an accessory which was a video camera that you could attach to the blasters, hopefully you can find one of those ol nuggets! :)
That's a narrow apature for a dslr. The darkness in the pillow shot would be because of that. Try opening it up a little bit. Turning down the shutter speed to compensate for it would help with bluryness when you open the apature.
Fun fact they have made atleast three other cameras as well. One was a camcorder, the camera attachment for the battlescout and then the cam ecs-10 which had a camera built into it.
The Famous Toledos got plenty of life in em, just hit em with the Scotchbrite and WD40 combo and lap em with some sandpaper on a piece of plate glass and you're good for another 10 years.
For clarification, i believe “nerf” as a brand is more about the soft foam plastic than being about dart guns specifically. Like how “nerf” in video games tends to refer to how a character or weapon was made softer and less effective. As if it were made of a cheap soft foam plastic. I’m not 100% on all that. But that’s kinda what I got, and how they can justify a nerf version of everything lol There’s probably a nerf drum set out there
To my knowledge it was actually the other way around: "nerfing" became a term in game culture when they added the foam padding to nerf darts as a result of injuries
It’s actually quite a small lens (since it’s the lens that comes with the camera)! Sony professional lenses are amazing but it’s really hard to be inconspicuous with them. The a7S is meant as a hybrid video camera but it still takes pretty good photos.
3:07 oh my god, vivitar. The first digital camera in my house was one of those. Same cd and everything. It was a blue one, worked with AAA batteries. Now it doesn't works. Great memories.
