I recently cancelled my Videotron account and took bell gigabit package and I received this modem, the modem is good and so far no issues with the signal 📶, the bell interface is amazing and has so many options
I just got the Bell Giga Hub today. Visually it looks identical to the Home Hub 4000 you have showcased in this video. My guess is it was a renaming/rebranding effort, and they wanted to drop the "4000", which really just sounded silly anyway. According to a Bell agent, the Home Hub 4000 is discontinued. I really wish you explained what the big circular glowing button does on the left. I was afraid to touch it earlier since it was fresh out of the package. I think I tapped it once and it may have power reset the device, I'm not sure. Is it a power button or power reset button? BTW, you shouldn't show the back of the unit with all the details showing: serial, wifi password, etc.. It's clear enough to read and you're showcasing it to the world lol.
This is being installed Friday. Hopefully this time they will actually do it. Our panel (where the fibre comes in) is not in the same place our Home comms closet is. There is a Cat 6 from the panel to this room. I will need to upgrade from my gig switch is they can't place this modem in the comms room.
@@Julien.adventure 10gbit would be total overkill, but YES, it would skip the limitations of the yellow 1Gbit ports, not to mention mange them properly. Perhaps if Bell gets 5 to 10 Gbit speeds in the future? Why on earth would you own one without having every other device connected to it, with more that 1Gbit Ethernet cards, unless you have a TON of devices? The cost of the faster cards alone would make this WAY over anyone's budget to begin with, unless your talking 2.5Gbit ones?
@@Zenbeau Because you have multiple gigabit devices connected to a home switch or router, so you want the uplink port at least as fast as the Internet modems WAN port. It makes no sense not for them to go to 10 GB if you need more than 1. Especially since 2.5 GB started to become standard on some gaming motherboards a couple of years ago and now 10 GB home switches and network cards are available relatively cheap. I would think this port is auto-negotiate for 1, 2.5, 5, 10, etc. You don't want to have to replace your gear for small changes that can be expected to happen in a short amount of time.
How about running a speed test on a phone or tablet to see the difference in speed? And if you have a Wi-Fi 6 device VS a none Wi-Fi 6 device that would be fun to watch👍.
Do you find that you have less wifi problems using the Hub4000 instead of the Hub3000? IE, is the 4000 more stable and prevent less wifi down time? Thanks.
I wonder how this new router is in terms of drops. I have a smart home with up to 60 devices connected at any given time. When using the HB 3000 I was forced to use an alternative router because my devices constantly dropped. Curious, if these issues have been resolved.
where are you running the 10g port too?? do you have a 10 g lan port on your desktop? or a 10g switch ? im just waiting for fibre to ran to my house . i got the conduits there . should be 2-3 weeks i should have fibre on the side of my house! i will be running the 10g lan to my multi gig ( 2.5/5/10g) netgear switch . and disable the wireless on the bell. i have 2 of the asus RTY-AX86U routers in mesh . im using the 2.5g lan ports as the input from rogers. once i get bell i will put the hub 4000 in and pretty sure i will see over 1000 wireless . im getting best speed now on my laptop with wifi 6 940 down and 32 mb up , on my samsung cell i get 830 down and 32 up .... cant wait to get fibre and break the gigabit barrier!! please do some tests with speed on your desktop... if you are running a 10 g port... curious to see top speed on a single output
Since it’s a two story house, I would recommend putting it near the ceiling of the first floor or near the ground of the second floor and in an area roughly center of the house. If you can get signals in some areas, you could buy an extender that you plug into the wall. Consider subscribing!
@@rodneydangerfield7153 It's basically the same thing but overall, the pods are better since they can also connect with bell directly (if you have bel wifi pods)
Overall, I am not happy with Bell Home Hub 4000. Tends to randomly disconnect, even after giving it a good beating to force it to not disconnect. Even with the replacement modem, it still disconnects randomly. I think I will cancel Bell internet services.
I would say its about 3 inches taller in in height but about 2 inches shorter in length., I don't think if would fit in a slot that only had room for a Bell hub 3000
Old computers beware!!! I seem to have a compatibility issue with this router and my Lenovo W540; running windows7 with a Wireless-N 7260 network adapter. it drops the connection in sleep mode and then wont reconnect at all...skipping over a lot of troubleshooting...I had to reformat my computer and im back using my old router, glad i didnt cancel the subscription yet...loks like i might be cancelling this Bell subscription
Cool! I used to have the HomeHub 3000 when I was with Bell last year, then switched to Roger's Wifi 6 Modem which was amazing, but since we are moving to a new house in an area with bell only we should be getting the HH4000. How is it compared to the 3000?
@@randomdude1053 If you have a PROPER 2.5Gbit network card, your going to need a downloader excellerator. Something like IDM or similar chrome/firefox extension to get those 1.7Gbit speeds. Unless you have a Wifi 6 phone or device, then you can skip this message.
@@SundayFoggyNotions does this still apply for 1gb speeds ad well? I usually download content on my Xbox at 500-750 mbps compared to my pc that downloads at a much slower speed
Very sensitive to a lot of this wifi "new and improved" tech in the last 2 years. Had this installed after my HH3000 was taken out (long story) and this was WAAAYYYY TOO STRONG for me.
Hi just like to know I tried to Google it for any manual guide about LED light circle and Ok and two LED light arrows up and down what does two arrows up and down do? and this one where it says Ok? Please let me know 🙏
shut your band steering off (split your 2.4 ghz and 5ghz frequency) you can also change the name of one of the 2 frequency so you can see both of them. if you have pods (wifi extender) there not going to work right if you split your frequency tho.
Yes it has a 10gb eth port, yes, you are able to put the modem in bridge mode if you want to go 10gb port to a 2.5gb port in a router for pure 1.5gb speed (2.5 coming soon) and no sfp module, Fibre goes straight to the gateway. All new 1.5gb subscribers get this modem standard upon subscription.
nice i was pretty sure i could get max speeds on a single connection! this is great news ... why in bridge mode? wont is just output max out the 10g set on standard config?
@@spencercaines538 Simplified.....The 1st BELL 1.5gb speed was only 1gb with the claim of using several devices to get that max. People were going ape shit not getting what they thought they were paying for. Now the new model HOMEHUB 4000 not only CAN do this, but offers future proofing for BOTH faster wireless and soon to come 2.5gb speed down the road. All the extra above is more convenience for certain setups which offer even more flexibility. A great example is how WiFi use to be LETTERS like, G or N or AX, but they simplified to NUMBERS like Wifi 4, Wifi 5, Wifi 6! Progress takes time. Not everyone needs to learn every digital part of their car, just drive it and done!
@@SundayFoggyNotions It's about damn time they do it. I'm so pissed at my 1.5Gb with huge overheating and crappy 3000 modem that can only do 1.0Gbit and don't even fully reach it up/down, plus the Wifi that won't go on the same floor of my condo from the living room to my office room (-_-) like it gets there but at like 10% with drops and cuts. Now watch it I'll call bell to ask for modem swapping and they'll tell me to F off.
The only thing a consumer would want is a way to re-boot it when it isn't working wel l- and the menu gives no option for that.. Only way is to pull the power plug I guess.
We just got the bell hub, but I am having trouble connecting my smart plugs to the 2.4 ghz. I know that it switches back and forth automatically, but is there any that I can force the bell hub to connect to 2.4ghz. I saw something about turning off the whole home wifi. I am a little uneasy about that as I don't want to mess anything up. Anyone know how I can do it?
Hello, I just got this modem installed by Bell and I could not get the LAN port to my Brother printer to work. This happened after I switched from Cogeco cable mode. My WIFI works except the LAN ports. The green light on the right side is on but not the left? I need your advise . thanks
Did you try SKIPPING the Lan port and plugging your printer directly into the side USB ports of the HH4000? Also, if your printer has WiFi build in, you don't need the cable to begin with.
I'm pretty sure that its a 10g ethernet port and it is pretty much the same size as the bell hub 3000 just a bit taller and a bit less wider. The range of the bell hub 4000 is far more better than the bell hub 3000
@@MrOcelotYT where do you have your 10g lan port going to ??? whats connection of the card its plugged into... please elaborate more on your set up! thanks
I just switched from gigabit Fibe to 1.5gb plan but I have the home hub 3000 … do I have to switch to hh4000? I switched for lower ping when gaming.. that is the hope. You can’t use a different router with hh4000? Please someone help!
@@ClimberCA- you are right but having a faster internet will 100% improve your ping I went from fiber 500 to 1.5 gigabit my ping went from 40 to 27 to Microsoft Servers
That's not how it works. Its for sharing like a flash drive, or larger external drive. Or an older printer that is NOT wireless, becomes wireless. You get the idea!
Hey guys I just received this hub, im wondering how do I connect my PS5 to the 10ETH GB Port is the only way with ETH cable or is there a way to do this wirelessly? thanks !
It is this one you connect to your router/switch/pc. The one we see is a flat CAT6 cable that over short distance (below 10m) can do 10 Gbps but can't guaranty it. Since the Hub4000 maxes at 3Gbps, you should be ok with that kind of cable. A real 10GE cable is CAT6A.
Anyone know how to have this on bridge mode so that this doesn't run its wifi on it I have asus imesh routers that are way better then this to run everything
@@Whissht You can get an PROPER INTELWi-Fi 6E "AX210" card for $20 US or $30 Canadian!! The only real difficulty, other than taking the laptop back off, is those dam micro antenna that you need a magnifying glass and nimble fingers (perhaps even twisters) to reconnect the darn thing! LOL!!
You have to press the arrow down button. Two WPS Connection, 1 for FIBE TV RECEIVER AND 1 FOR NORMAL WPS CONNECTION LIKE FOR PRINTERS AND MOBILE DEVICES AND ETC
@@HegoDamaskII If you have been a longer term customer and have had less than desired performance, ask them for a complementary upgrade. I signed up for the $7 per month but them called to ask that they waive the fees considering my loyalty as a customer. Also the 4000 does not have battery back up like the 3000 so you would need a ups for home phone to work if power goes out. You want to talk to a Customer Care Rep to get a discount. Hope this helps.
