In the first week of April 2022, Bell unveiled Bell Gigabit Fibe 3.0. That's 3 gigabit fibre to the home, and Canada's fastest residential internet package.
Is this service really good or a gimmick? Can Bell meet the promise of 3 gigabit, beyond any speed that's ever been offered to residential customers in Canada, EVER?
Watch & find out about the newest addition to Bell Fibe.

@@bluray1522 not yet unfortunately. Work life is insane (I’m going to do a video with a little background about what this entails and how it held up part 2 of this video)- but I won’t do that video until I upload part 2. On top of work, computer issues plagued me a little longer than expected and then burn out kicked in 😂 - all of this will be in the video I post after I do part 2. The speed is fantastic - but with one caveat, only 2 sites I’ve used (which is super niche to my work) seem to go beyond gigabit. I was actually able to get the 3 gig plan reduced lower than I was initially paying for 1.5 so I kept it. Hopefully the rest of the internet can start catching up- but I’m not holding my breath. Us beyond gigabit users are too small of a percentage for most who run web servers to care about, let-alone spend money to upgrade their infrastructure for. Thanks for the comment btw and I’m excited for you, is this your first fibre connection? If so, which internet plan did you have previously?

😂 I'm glad at the very least I had internet at home. I am on Fido for my cell services (my plan is way too low for Bell to match, as I've been a Fido customer since 2003 and have a multi-line discount as well) - what a day Friday was. In all honesty, this can happen to any provider at any time. I think the most horrific realization from July 8th was the fact that Interac didn't have a fallback redundant option. It's 2022, of all companies that should know better ....

This is definitely good in terms of overall ISP competition, hoping that Bell continues to compete intensively. Bell would legitimately be the most well rounded ISP if they simply offered hardware that was simply more open, easy to use bridge mode, easy to use your own wifi gear, etc. Hoping that bell continues to compete with rogers and overall internet prices fall for all in Canada. Our market for internet is just outrageous for the prices we pay and the connection we get on average. Great video review, keep these internet videos coming.

So I got the Bell Fibe 3Gbps, and I've ordered an ASUS RT-AX89X. Since you're also in Canada, I'm curious what is the best way to build a small home 10Gbps network beyond those components. If I use the 10GbaseT port to connect to the HomeHub 4000, then I'm left with an SFP+ port. Should I buy an SFP+ switch, and SFP+ cards for my desktop and NAS,? Or should I buy a 10GbaseT switch, and 10GbaseT cards for my desktop and NAS, and also buy a 10GbaseT transceiver/adaptor for the SFP+ port in the router? 10GbaseT switches seem to currently be exceedingly expensive, or just plain unavailable. I found mention of the TP-Link Jetstream T1700X-16TS switch as being an affordable consumer 10gbe device, but it's now "end of life", and there doesn't seem to be anything like it. Now that I need 10Gbps, it seems like the chip shortage has made things ludicrous.

So .. in Bell Part 2, there's footage of what I did to set this all up (I wish you could post pics as comments so it'd be easier to show you) So what I did was, I went: HomeHub 4000 -> AX89X AX89X -> QNAP QSW-308-1C 10GbE Switch (Amazon: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07VC9T3WQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 ) QNAP QSW-308-1C -> 10 GbE Computer QNAP QSW-308-1C -> 2nd AX89X 😂 (explained why in the video that I swear will come out one day) I used Wiitek SFP to RJ45 transceivers that have been bulletproof, you can find them here: (Amazon: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07P39G4XJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) This setup works fine, but the 10GbE switch is your choice ultimately. Remember, you want to go from the HomeHub 4000 into the router FIRST then switch into the remaining 10 GbE port. I bought this switch as a stop-gap until I can build out a real rack-server setup and overtake Linus and blah blah blah 😂

@@TechMixr Asus' mesh systems are weird. AIMesh 2.0 got a lot better than their first-generation tech, but when I had an AX11000 set up with two ZenWifi XT8's, it definitely felt like there were ghosts in the machine. Some of this is the fact that Asus is always tweaking it's firmware, and users get to be guinea pigs for a lot of stuff. Asus' routers are hands-down the most configurable and feature-rich consumer routers I've ever used, but all that power comes with complexity, both in the UI and in all of the "moving parts" that Asus has to deal with in its firmware updates. With the AX98X I'd recommend going with wired mesh. The 10Gbps SFP and Ethernet ports make it well-suited for that, but as a dual-band router, you're going to eat up half of your performance maintaining the mesh connection on the single 5GHz band.
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 2 года назад
@@jhollington with the latest firmware / Telnet adjustments I just did with ASUS, the idea of another AX89X is in the cards, but the ultimate plan would be to go from the 1st AX89X into some kind of 10GbE switch to give me more 10GbE throughout the house and a 10GbE link upstairs. My CPU usage when pulling 3 gig while transferring over gigabit through the network is under 5% on all cores which is a far reach from what it was before these changes took place.
@jhollington
@jhollington 2 года назад
@@TechMixr Yeah, that's the way to go with the AX89X in my experience. Asus' higher-end routers have power to spare, and when the firmware is good and the settings are right, they're basically unmatched for performance among consumer routers. I've got an AX11000 that offers enough bandwidth for an entire 200-person church, while allowing me to reserve enough for the live stream. The older AC5400 that it replaced is wired up on the second floor to provide dedicated coverage for the Sunday school program, which relies on Chromebooks and TVs with Chromecasts.

@@jhollington I had that router and gave it to my folks to solve a lot of dead spots from their dying router. Super overkill for them, but it’s definitely a workhorse for that house’s layout so they’re super happy with it. If only there was a 10GbE version of it 😂

I can't get enough speed. On the 1.5Gbit profile now but need the CO in my area upgraded before 3 will be available - the second it is I'm jumping on it. I have a VPN between my family households which backup their NAS devices and store my offsite backups via Veeam. Centralized Ubiquiti doorbell/security camera video storage for my family and Plex access provided from my household to family and friends. Pushing 3-6TB+ usage a month. What's even more incredible is my family households all being on Bell FTTH get around 8ms ping between them (all using PFsense IPSEC VPN) across the city which is nuts, just as a test I tried running iSCSI over that and it actually seemed to work not too bad though I had no real use to do so. With my Steam library downloads and general usage on top of all that I feel the need... the need for speed.

Other than video content sharing, certain individuals or institutions require high speed internet to transfer large data sets. I can think of few examples like scientific and space exploration research where they gather large amounts of data. In a lot of cases the data is so large that it is faster to transfer it in person. This can become very expensive if the data is collected across the world and broken down elsewhere. In a lot of cases like video content sharing, the data needs to be processed in different parts of the world. As technology evolves so that the need for faster internet. I’m glad to know that Bell and Rogers are stepping up their game in this field.
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 2 года назад
Absolutely! I think as we are growing in the residential space to support these faster speeds, infrastructures that serve users are going to have to upgrade their capacity to support the speeds. But to the niche cases you’re referring to, these are very direct type of connections that the majority just won’t need. It is nice to see users like myself and others who need the insane throughout to get a plan that fits their needs. But Canadian telecom has been the Wild West this month and more of a **** measuring contest of who can roll faster service. So who knows what it means long term (hopefully lower prices for all of us)

@bigrexxx
@bigrexxx 10 месяцев назад
Quick question. Was there any hardware required to upgrade to the 3Gigabit, besides installing Bell's Gigahub in your home? Did they have to run new fibre cables to your neighbourhood, to accommodate the higher speeds, or was it a seamless upgrade? I'm in Halifax, and we're capped at 1.5gigabit right now, even though I already have the Gigahub. I'm just wondering if they need to change the existing infrastructure, or just change things internally?
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 9 месяцев назад
So it may depend. You may have the correct cables, but where they connect in your area may be limited. In some cases, if you have a GPON cable for fibre and not an XGS-PON cable, that could make it a little more difficult to get the higher speed tiers to you. But I’m not entirely sure what they do in that case. If I’m being honest (and I mention this in my latest long form video covering 8 gigabit) unless you have a lot of people streaming video and doing a lot of traffic on your network, 1.5, 3 gigabit and 8 gigabit don’t feel that different at all. The internet just isn’t ready to push traffic that fast. You could be good with what you have, but your needs may require more. Hope this gives some insight, sorry for the delayed response!

@@TechMixr I probably don't need faster Internet, but I hate having that wasted potential. I'm glad you mentioned how stupid the upper ends of speeds are. Most customers mostly compare Gigabit Ignite vs Gigabit Fibe which already is the problem because without any knowledge, if Gigabit Ignite doesn't work why would they go for a lower speed with a different company. The rationality of realizing how overkill the service is actually more of a topic than anything that has to do with these upper end speeds. Most people don't even know what the average household for 2 people watching netflix would need vs household of 5-6, everyone just wants Gigabit if they don't know any better.
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 2 года назад
It’s very true. I think the obsession with the higher number and the marketing behind a lot of internet packages is very deceptive (looking at you Cogeco and your ‘UltraFibre’ which doesn’t disclose upload speeds because it’s coaxial ….. ) I think a well configured 500/500 fibre to the home service with Wi-Fi 6 will serve majority of people for years and years to come. That’s why I mentioned gamers specifically. There isn’t enough marketing that directly states that internet speed won’t have an impact on gameplay but will affect game downloads. The hype for massive plans gets deflated real fast when your equipment doesn’t even use the speed, the gaming seems no different and the price is really high compared to what was being used previously without any real tangible difference. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

Not even 5-6.... You could stream 15 different 4K UHD Netflix movies simultaneously on a 500Mbps connection. On average, a Netflix 4K stream only requires 25Mbps, although it can peak up to around 30Mbps. Others go a bit higher - Apple TV+ is one of the top-tier ones, which averages in the 35Mbps range and peaks at 50Mbps. Disney+ is somewhere in between. People just have no concept of how little bandwidth they really need, or even how routers work. I'm also amazed at how many people who live alone buy tri-band routers, thinking it will make things faster.
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 2 года назад
@@jhollington I’m guilty of the tri-band thing 🤣 - but I’m also a super enthusiast who likes to tinker
@jhollington
@jhollington 2 года назад
@@TechMixr Haha, same here. That said, getting a tri-band router is totally worth it if you're setting up a wireless mesh system. This allows one of the bands (usually a second 5GHz one) to be used as a wireless backhaul channel, giving you maximum bandwidth everywhere. This is why dual-band mesh systems like Google Nest perform so poorly when you're out of range of the main unit - you're only getting half the bandwidth, as it has to be shared between your client device and the mesh connection. Some mesh systems, such as Netgear's Orbi, reserve the third band exclusively as a backhaul, making it unavailable for use by client devices. Others such as Linksys and Asus manage it more dynamically, so it only switches over when maximum performance is needed. Of course, if you have a really busy home, you're better off getting a tri-band mesh system AND wiring them up instead of relying on the wireless mesh. This will give you true tri-band coverage throughout your home. Most people don't really need this unless they have a home full of gamers, however.

Thanks for the compliment! Ok, so a few thoughts here and questions, I'm assuming you're using a HomeHub 4000 correct? Some of the speed test servers won't push more than gigabit. That's just the nature of the internet generally (covered that part in the video, specifically when I referring to the buffering of a RU-vid video). It's not that we're being deceived or lied to at all. According to Ookla themselves, in Canada specifically the average speed (or mean) for wireless devices as of March 2022 is 103.77 mbit download and fixed broadband (i.e., direct connections) is around 204 mbit. This can be found here: www.speedtest.net/global-index/canada Now consider this. As a business, specifically in this case, a company that runs servers, it costs more in things like power, server capacity overall and some kinds of licensing to upgrade their equipment to support these speeds. If the average on the higher end is around 200 mbit, a lot of the internet and people who run servers won't see any benefits to upgrading to support even gigabit speeds. Speedtest.net is obviously equipped as it's getting hit daily probably hundreds of thousands of times a second if not millions from a huge amount of servers around the world. So unfortunately, that's why my ultimate recommendation in the video for the average household is 500/500, even that being overkill for a lot of people. Torrenting and other things will help you take advantage of the connection, but even then, it's always going to be hit and miss as the internet isn't really equipped for end-users to have gigabit as an expectation, and 3 gigabit is even worse. If you want to see 3 gig speeds at all, you'd have to go beyond a 2.5GbE port on your machine. If you're so inclined to do so, there are 10GbE PCI-E adapters or a few Thunderbolt 3/4 accessories that will help you out.

I'm thinking the most common use case, given that most people may not have all the fancy 10 Gb switches and Cat 6e wiring, wouldn't be a single device saturating the line, but rather multiple devices in the home all downloading/uploading at the same time.

Absolutely. But if I'm being honest, unless multiple devices were doing power-user things, I think 1.5 is a bit overkill for even that. 3 gigabit is nuts. What’s ridiculous is while Bell finally upgraded to the HomeHub4000 for the 10Gbit port, they are still selling WiFi pods that don’t do Wi-Fi 6 still. They should have rolled out new pods at the same time. Telus advertises 2.5Gbps and throws in Wi-Fi 6 pods. Which is why I will continue to use my 1.5Gbit connection and Wifi 6 router through pppoe and Wi-Fi 6 OneMesh extenders. we have 3 floors so I have 2 extenders so we get seamless Wi-Fi 6 from upstairs all the way down to the basement continuously without losing connection. Plus we have 4 people in the house all doing online gaming, live-streaming, downloading, or streaming content. Remember the 1.5Gbit is THROUGHPUT so you’re forgetting people with families that share the bandwidth. I love how I can download things for work and the rest of my family can still get great speeds without effecting mine. 3Gbit is tempting but I’m still on promo pricing until October of this year, but after that I may upgrade to a setup with a 10gbit ethernet port and upgrade to the 3Gbit service. It’ll only be $14 more per month at that point and I already pay for the homehub 4000 since the 3000 is a literal hunk of junk that always needed resetting. The removable SFP module was the only benefit to it, but passthru works just as well.

Considering how low your current package is, you’ll most likely qualify for fibre to the home sooner than most. The CRTC is mandating a minimum connection speed above what you have currently. ISPs that offer you service have to comply to the mandate or they could face a fine. Not sure when their deadline is, but it’s not too far away from what I’ve seen around. If the infrastructure is close to you, it’s only a matter of time. Where it could get tricky is with condo boards not wanting the construction- but if you have support from property owners / management, it’ll happen.

It would come in really handy for VPN into a cooperate network with a 10Gig already fibre uplink… for downloading large files, programs and uploading, and working within the system directly without going through other programs and services out there… Also it would be really useful in a Home VPN, to another home or office VPN… like ubiquiti (Unifi) systems, which you would still need both ends to have the right hardware to do it all…. Like I don’t have bell where I am (yet) but I think they’re installing it now…. Lots of digging in the are and fiber lines… If two content creators, had it they could easily share files like it was in their same network, you know *cough cough* or vpn into a main directory if the source had the same internet for uploading completed videos to a paid service… either way I could try with my Unifi Dream machine pro SE with its connection if I can get the internet lol

Yeah, this is exactly the other biggest use case, but you'd have to be in an industry where moving really large files around is the norm. Video production is the big one, as pointed out in the review, but I could see it being useful in engineering environments with certain types of CAD files. However, many corporate networks still rely on remote access via remote terminal sessions (e.g., Citrix), and even 1Gbps is overkill for that. As higher-speed home internet becomes more ubiquitous, I can see more offices moving away from Citrix-style solutions and going with direct LAN-like connections, but we're still a ways away from that. Even then, however, 1Gbps is more than sufficient - after all, that's likely all that you're using when you're physically at the office anyway.

FYI, if you watch the video in the end screen, you’ll see wifi 6 performance on 1.5 gigabit if that helps you (on both the ASUS and the HomeHub 4000) - and there’s no difference in wifi performance between the 1.5 package and the 3 gig package. @@TechMixr I watched the video in which you compare wifi speeds of the hh4000 with the asus router. There is a benefit to 3 Gbps if you live in a place with multiple machines that may be making use of the internet heavily. Even with most standard hardware being only equipped with 1 Gbps ethernet that means you and two roommates or whatever could each have 1 Gbps up and down fully dedicated to them. With the price of renting a place these days being enormous (at least here in Ontario), and the prospect of having to roommate it up just to get by, this is a pretty darn solid choice to keep everyone happy, imho. That or you could just be a power user with like constant uploads going to YT while you stream to other platforms while you run Backblaze while playing with friends on Steam Remote Play Together while also contributing to the peer-to-peer Windows Update service (where they use people like you to host some files to make things faster), et cetera without making a dang dent in your experience. Just saw your vid. Neat and awaiting part 2. I'm a DSLR member as well and watching the thread. I also don't get the whole "Who needs speeds that fast" and have seen and hated it plenty. Not that I need them, I want them for what I do/could use them, especially for upload. In US, Comcast gives me a 42 upload which OneDrive makes cry every time. My connection is 1400/42. And as for uses, for me, it's gaming (Downloads on 4 systems all at once, for example.), Geforce Now streaming at 50MBPS while other things are going on. And PC downloads or YT streaming. 3 of my systems would pull 2G if available, so I'd love a 3GB connection. But 2.5G would also play nice. Also uploads to services like OneDrive. The 42 upload I have is pathetic in 2022. A 3G connection isn't for joe user, who as you pointed out, doesn't usually have the hardware grunt to get past 1G without special preps, like SSDs, CPU and 2.5/5/10G NIC cards and switches that can do the same. @@TechMixr I did some quick testing with the HH4000 after I got it, and it punches out very respectable speeds and decent range over Wi-Fi 6. It can't compete with a mesh system, but I'd argue that it's enough to replace most single-unit routers unless you have specific requirements. Even the HH3000 was surprisingly good when I put it in years ago; Bell pretty much had to choose more powerful Wi-Fi routers since it also relies on these to deliver a wireless signal to its Fibe TV boxes, and those need to work flawlessly. Rogers Wi-Fi cable modems are generally horrible by comparison. The biggest problem that a mesh system solves is the tendency of client devices to go with the strongest signal, even when it's not the fastest. When 5GHz gets weak enough, many devices drop down to the 2.4GHz band, which is much slower - a weak 5GHz usually still beats a strong 2.4GHz, but client devices don't consider that. One solution is splitting the SSIDs to keep your devices on the 5GHz, but then you're left with the choice of either ignoring the 2.4GHz entirely and dropping off Wi-Fi when you're entirely out of 5GHz range, or setting your devices up to both SSIDs and risking getting stuck on the 2.4GHz network until you manually switch back. A mesh network solves this by ensuring that the 5GHz signal is strong enough no matter where you are in your home.
@TechMixr
@TechMixr 2 года назад
@@jhollington I really need to deeper dive into mesh to get a really good understanding from a usability standpoint. Right now, I usually use 2 routers, turn off DNS relay and turn off DHCP on the 2nd router and connect them over Ethernet to establish the link. My house is fully covered by the AX89X - the troublesome part is when you get into the backyard as brick doesn’t play well with my router being on the complete opposite end of the house. But when I use another router to fill the gap, close to the door to the backyard, it’s perfect. I just don’t auto connect that SSID unless I’m outside for a very long period streaming music or letting a podcast run.

@jhollington 2 года назад
@@TechMixr For most systems, "wired mesh" isn't all that much different from just wiring up two routers in the way you describe. In fact, if you can do it right you can give them both the same SSID and just let your devices roam between them. Some systems like Asus' AIMesh 2.0 allow for more seamless handoffs when moving between the two, but that's not usually a problem unless you're using real-time services like VoIP or video calling (and wandering around the house while you're doing it). I was actually wiring up multiple wireless access points in commercial offices and schools long before the word "mesh" was being used. Of course, in those environments, the wireless access points aren't the actual routers or DNS/DHCP servers, but the principle isn't much different. In fact, Asus' routers are particularly flexible in terms of their ability to just be configured in "access point" mode.

So here my break down…… 4 cell phones, 2 tablets, 6 TV’s, 3 laptops, 6 fire sticks, indoor and outdoor wireless security cameras (total of 10 cameras), ring camera doorbell, 5 Google mini’s, 2 ps5’s, 2 ps4’s, 1 Nintendo switch, so in an actual total of devices that are actually online on a daily I would have to say is a total of 26-29 devices being used on my network. In total of all my devices I have close or over 45. I feel that a person who is completely wireless with a full mesh set up to equally put internet throughout my house consistent the 3gb is the way to go. Not to mention my house is a powerhouse for streaming all day everyday and I have a son who streams on twitch also. Needless to say it’s incredible once your completely wireless how much internet speed decreases the more devices you add to you network. Let me know if you agree or disagree, great video and detail!!

Are you going straight from the HomeHub 4000 into your devices or are you going through a 2nd router? For high frequency trading, it's more about latency (ping) instead of download speed so 150 - 3 gigabit won't make any meaningful difference. Also, your iMac probably didn't ship with a 10 GbE card (unless you got an upgrade at the time of purchase or are using a Thunderbolt -> 10 GbE adapter). Have you done a speedtest from within the menu of the HomeHub 4000? Establish that the modem is actually getting full speed from the ISP first before resorting to cable-swaps. But to be honest, if 2 devices with 2 different cables are giving you issues, it makes me suspect either that the service is running correctly from Bell themselves, or you have another router connected to the HomeHub and that's causing issues (something that I'm address in the part 2 video which I'm going to eventually edit once I get my main machine back up and running).

@@CoachGarcia If you can login to the HomeHub 4000 (via 192.168.2.1 I believe) and do a modem speed test, you'll know immediately if it's Bell's service itself or your end. If you get full speed in there, either the modem is acting up, or it's a configuration issue on your end. But I would start there before going the cable route.

What telco companies don't often mention is that the client devices, if accessing on wifi, need to have internal wifi cards that support these higher data speeds, and to bear in mind that device processor speeds can also limit performance. I don't understand why people need 3Gbps data speeds either, other than people falling for a telco's sales hype.

Your issue with your thinking is that you're by yourself. If you're in a home with a family of 4 people who all utilize hardwire internet connections, phones, gaming devices, etc; all at the same time, the 1Gbit, 1.5Gbit, and 3Gbit offers more THROUGHPUT. You're only thinking along the terms of sending the maximum speed to one device and hogging all of the bandwidth for yourself. But these higher tier plans actually mean you can spread out the bandwidth across your home to all of your devices without interfering with each other's speeds. Example: I have Bell's 1.5Gbit service hooked into my 2.5Gbit WAN port on my router to send internet via WiFi 6 around my home wirelessly and then I have cables hardwired to both of my computers in my office. This means I can max out to 1Gbit speeds on my computer while the rest of my home (smart devices, mobile devices) and family member's computer's have access to the other 500Mbit of throughput without interfering with my 1Gbit speed. Take this same logic to a 3Gbit connection and you have 1Gbit hardwired and then 2Gbit throughput available to the rest of the household shared either wired or wireless. Allowing everyone to get 1Gbit theoretical speeds without slowing any other connections down. Make sense? Internet speed isn't about MAX SPEED to ONE DEVICE.... it's about sharing that bandwidth across your entire home to all of your smart devices, mobile phones, gaming consoles, computers, laptops. When you think of things from the mind of a single guy just wanting to get all excited about maxing out your 10Gbit ethernet port with the fastest internet then you're thinking in a very narrow view. But also if you can afford 3Gbit internet then it shouldn't be difficult for you to have a 10Gbit switch and just hardwire all of your computers adding a 10Gbit port to them. With Windows you can add a 10Gbit Ethernet jack easily, and even with older Macs without 10Gbit ports you can get an adapter that converts Thunderbolt to 10Gbit Ethernet as Thunderbolt supports up to 40Gbit speed transfer. Then you can also get a WiFi 6E router in the future once mobile/devices in the home start to upgrade to WiFI 6E antennas and utilize that extra throughput even more! Add in MATTER technology for smart homes and building up your thread network and it'll be the fastest/low latency smart home available and make life wonderful for a tech enthusiast like ourselves.

If I were in your position, I would do the following, and this is just an opinion: - Try using the 1.5 package with the HomeHub 4000. I never had the 3000, but I've read countless reports of it being really bad. - If you insist on getting 3 gigabit, see if any services / your equipment can take advantage of speed beyond gigabit. I'm not disagreeing entirely with the $15 premium being a no-brainer. But I think from a value proposition to the internet actually handling speeds beyond gigabit to you & others in your household - you may not see a difference from 1.5 to 3 in most cases. You could, and I could be wrong in your specific setup, but at the end of the day, I think if you can save a few bucks and have great service, why not, right? I have about 25 devices connected here and do some very serious heavy lifting on many devices at once and outside of a few servers, I don't feel a difference between 1.5 & 3 gigabit at all. Appreciate the view & comment! Enjoy the HomeHub 4000, that alone will feel like an upgrade.

And even if for a period, PS5 is faster on Rogers, it will vary back and forth constantly. This is due to things like server load and sometimes it can be related to CDNs at the ISP (think of it like a cache but it’s hosted at Rogers or Bell) Not sure if Sony or Microsoft use CDNs like Netflix does- but I wouldn’t be surprised. It costs way less for them and makes the user experience so much better.

Hopefully it’s fibre in your case. The only issue I see is, Bell is crying at the CRTC because they’re being forced to share their fibre network to 3rd parties so they’ve ’stopped all rollouts’ but they’ve cried before so hopefully you see the upgrade soon.
