@jacobbyerson5075 Now I have to watch the Skylark video so I can see David Foster. David Foster also wrote After the Love is Gone performed by Earth, Wind and Fire. Forever indebted to Mr Foster for that song and giving it to Maurice.❤❤❤❤
they did that and then some! i always loved that song as a child, even though i didn't really understand the lyrics...now as a grown woman...i overstand them.
New Birth is one of the greatest bands that gave us excellent music from the era of the outstanding professional musicians. R&B and Soul Music Forever. 🎶 🎵 Shout out to New Birth😅😊
Oh yes. Black women were treated as royalty back then, allowed to be themselves, the beauty God created them to be, and were respected as she respected her kings. None could tell her that her "wool" as God said he himself has, was to be covered with that straight and flat lifeless hair. The mind conditioning now of this generation is sad. Low self esteem. Change to be accepted for fame and fortune.
This changed sadly when the music changed ,became more of the B and more used to describe black women. The black men Artist doing this were nowhere near the artist like these artist ,their focus, lyrics were more gang related, and they lived this life, mentality. Years later the women to be in the industry became the female versions of them. The industry heads promoted this while ignoring true artistry, gifts they have which is why we do not see great R&B artist, groups ,bands like New Birth ,musicians who could play instruments anymore. The more thug out you are the more money you make and sadly the last few generations accepted this, made it worse ,after even their favorites lost their lives ti violence and the industry still making money off their dead bodies.
Londee is stunning, perfect compliment to Leslie’s leads. I could never understand why Harvey Fuqua chose to substitute Susaye Greene on “until it’s time for you to go”.
I grew up with this classic and so many other great tunes from this era-and to now see them perform this live, wow, it just confirms that here was another great group from the era of the 1970's-where did it all go? It just don't come any better than this ya'll! 9-23-24.
His voice and their blend was PURE SOUL! Their options of who could tag the song with their gift added to the song being stamped with a genius touch and the sound of the band that made it their own. I am so glad I was raised around the time they were hot! They are unsung, yet we’re vital for the era.
Had the pleasure of seeing them in the early seventies at the Berkeley Community Theater in Berkeley California. They open the show for the Spinners when the Spinners were hot. They brought the house DOWN. OMG it was the best opening act I ever attended. The Spinners came out swinging. They barely beat them out. I am 68 and still remember that show to this day.
Wow love it !, First time seeing this band or hearing their version because I downloaded years ago and have the Skylark version that I listen to this band is fantastic. I wonder if some of them are still alive as great grandfathers at this time in life.
The same I have always thought it was her first decades now, since hearing it when I was just a very young preteen. I just hate they cut the video off just when he started ripping ,did some point she joined in as on the record now it sounds like it may have been both with her doing the Ohh sharp sounds.
