Unfortunately many BMW fans are not familiar with the release method of BMW. It is misleading to say “NEW”. In simple terms BMW release a new model..then a few years in to that release they will do what’s a called an LCI release. That’s what this is. This is the G87 LCI version of the M2. LCI simply refers to small updates..perhaps new tech, new screen or buttons in the interior, sometimes new headlights or taillights..small details. The structure will stay the same for the most part but LCI provides new features..in this case the engine now delivers 353kW/480hp. You also have 8 new colors options available. So again unfortunately it is misleading to those who are not familiar with BMW release method. This is built in Mexico..I personally have helped launch multiple models in the US and I know for our models we normally run them for about 5-7 years before we release a successor for that model..and even then it will be a complete new version of a previous model…perhaps by new you might be referring to something like the XM which is a completely new model that was released that didn’t have a predecessor. I helped launch that car as well and even that car technically has a lot of the same inside parts as the X5,6,7. I understand your sentiment but unfortunately that’s how a lot of products work..iPhone is probably the most known product that demonstrates this..new phones every year but they don’t necessarily look a lot different..perhaps spec bumps color options etc. there a reason for this but you’re probably aware it always has something to do with money.. but that’s not the only factor but is absolutely a huge factor in play..billions are invested in releasing each model..just not feasible to constantly invest billions to create new models..I could bore you with the details but again I know from a fan/customer perspective I get it..but from a professional point of view it’s not practical

Are you actually this blatantly daft? New could be minor/under the hood. New could be fixed gen x y z problems. New could be just a year change. That still has not even considered the material % and ratios that make up the very plastic and metals that are specified to certain models only. Meaning just because it’s identical doesn’t mean some of the raw base materials haven’t gotten better. Advances occur down to the composite level often. So yes it is new. Each year of a gen of MOST cars become in every way ‘more’ of a solution to the previous while still being ‘identical’ and still considered new. (Obviously while new problems arise)

And to help the regular people understand.. are you gonna buy the first year of a gen or 4th year? Which one do you think by obvious statistic operates ever so slightly better?

but they gave the engine in the auto 'much' more power... ridiculous. Why? Now instead of just a transmission performance reduction, the manual actually loses power at the crank?? I don't get it.

​@@MKu64It's not about the power. It's about the experience of driving. Automatic cars are convenience vehicles but they just feel like Activa. Manuals are much more fun to drive. And you still don't lose that much power bcz in AT, it does 0-100 kph in 4.1 sec and in manual it does in 4.3 sec.Less than 5 percent difference.

@@shreygirdhar9923 The things you describe are the reason to drive manual.. which is great. But the point is, they reduced the engine power for the manual... They really just didn't want to go with the manual it seems.. but did as a side note. Disappointing.

Looks like BMWs flooding the replies with bots to try and convince people the car looks good. Ironically the M3 and M4 so ugly that yeah the M2 does look better but that's definitely not a compliment.

@@MrLebetaSir you generally drift sideways, so the steering wheel is rotated. Some prefer round steering wheel so that the feeling is consistent throughout the angles. Personally not an issue for me, but I'd probably switch the steering wheel (and 100+ other part) if I was doing this professionally.

@@MrLebetaSir Its the same reason everybody complains about the Model S Plaid having a yoke. When you're sideways, and you reach over to hold the slide, there's nothing to hold on to, and eventually spin, or at worst, crash into a tirewall. The problem is the same even in this case, but less of a problem, because it is still a full steering wheel, with a flat bottom.

Y'all need to have your eyes and head looked at by an actual doctor. That thing is soo much more hideous compared to the previous (F87) gen. Buy one of those instead. It is probably one of the best looking BMWs ever.

It’s due to the increased demand. Unfortunately, car brands have started to outsource due to cheaper production costs 😢

@@declansteele2061 Would be very easy to get more power out of it anyway. I do like that steering wheel though. However, I don't think it would go well with the M2. The steering on the M2 is odd. It doesn't go back to center by itself. Curious to see how that feels with a flat bottom.

It's M4 heavy, it has the same, soulless M3/M4, and unlike the previous Gen car, this one can't seat a person in the backseat, despite being bigger in every dimension. And the rev counter isn't a circular gauge anymore, it's a slanted line that goes red when it goes higher in revs. This car might be objectively better, but I prefer the previous Gen car.

all modern cars are, but I'd say BMWs are on the better end of things for this compared to the insanely numb Audis and Mercedes etc

@@r6scrubs126 True, but BMW is the last company that we want it to do. Audis (even the RS's) are considered as Autobahn Rockets and great daily+, so steering feedback isn't their priority. Mercedes is busy making luxury cars out of everything, including all their AMG models, so much so that the 2dr C63 is heavier than the 4dr M3, ang so, no steering feedback, cuz luxury car.

I'd go far as saying, keep it as a car for the video game devs. Pls make actual fun cars for regular car enthusiasts like us.

@@akshaysankarshana2405 Go buy a 30 year old techless car then, or a miata. Fun is subjective anyways, many people will find this M2 fun while being a lot safer to drive at the limit. Just be glad there's still cars with gasoline engines to buy, eventually it will be EVs only which are fun in their own way but not as exciting as hearing an engine and turbo spool.

Get your point, but really you get used to it, and the Idrive 8 is fantastic and looks amazing in person. I have the M240i in thundernight metallic, and when people see the car and then step inside, they’re blown away; I’m 56 have had 5 BMWs, and I’ve never had so many compliments for a car that I’ve owned.
