The Concept R 18 is the world premiere of a BMW Motorrad custom concept featuring a new prototype flat-twin engine - the highest capacity boxer motorcycle ever produced. Simply christened ‘Concept R 18’, this pure, stripped-down, laid-bare bike give more than just a hint of what’s coming your way in the cruiser segment. Tommy Kerns was one of the first people to have the chance to take it for a spin. His statement about his first impressions are clear as glass.

Attention BMW, I would purchase this bike immediately if you made it. All I ask is that you just make it this simple. don't dither about with all of the tech you usually put into your bikes. It should just be this simple.

last time I felt this excited was the launch of Triumph's rocket 3 back in 2004. I saved for 5 years to get mine. This time, I know I will be in for a pre-order for this. If BMW would to design an official BMW sidecar with this R18, I would sell my kidney.

Hope BMW doesn't pull an Indian (FTR1200) on us, where the production bike looks nothing like the concept. We'll have to wait and see how this looks after they add number plates, indicators, cat-con etc.

wish they just made the old bike, an 1:1 copy respecting whatever regulations require. Noone has done that. That would be original, not heting up the same old bobber soup that has been done to death by triumph and others.

Air cooled push rod boxer engine.... In a cruiser platform.... I wish BMW knows what they are doing. Changing mid control to forward control or adding a pair of highway pegs would be a challenge with those piston heads sticking out.

Idk about being a fat boy killer. This bike has more forward lean, pegs instead of boards, a less plush seat, and overall more stripped down. The fat boy is a more of a comfy cruiser with a bold traditional style look... but damn, this thing does look great.

I have been a loyal BMW BOY/man since I was 16. We then had a BMW motorcycle dealership here in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. I used to drool over “The Brick”! My father drove BMW cars from 1978 until his health failed him in 2010. I’ve owned an R100R Mystic, a R1200s, the 1st tricolor S1000RR into Melbourne in 2010. I still own “several” BM’s including a 1980 R100s fully restored. So build this so I can add to my “soul”! 🤣😂🤣😂😎👍🏻

I don't know how much this is gonna cost, but i want one sooo bad. The fact that you brought back part of the old school design and feel, blows my mind. You keep this reliable and oldschool, and none of that "bikes and cars are killing us" mentality crap, and you'll sell this like hot cakes... and create a huge fan base. You said it will meet the euro 4 to 6 standards. That's good, but i hope it doesn't come with 200kg of an exhaust system to do that.

Probably the best looking classic styled modern bike. It did look like the bike was from the early 1900s. Just the prop shaft could have been covered for safety.

Seating position will give you cramps on the knees. I recommend resting your legs on the boxer engine if your going for a long ride..

Optik und Sound sind der Todeshammer! Da gibt es für einen Customizer nichts mehr zu tun! Aber ob man auf Dauer mit diesem Kniewinkel fahren kann, wage ich doch zu bezweifeln. Ist ja noch ein Konzept, mal schauen, wie es dann in Serie verbaut wird. 👍
