@@bmwmotorrad Have a look at our video, but I love the long wheelbase which suits a tall guy like me, as so many bikes are tiny! It is art on wheels! I thought the handling was first class and at least as good, if not better than the Harley-Davidson softails.
Hello from Athens, Greece. Although I'm not a fan of BMW's bikes, R18 came and put me into spell. This is pure magic. It gets me back to the old days of 1930's. the hand painted tank, the forks, the frame, the wheels and, of course, the exhausts. The "Berlin Built" is the absolute touch. Berlin, my favourite city (visit at least twice a year) with a beautiful bike like this? It's a dream! BMW hit the jackpot with this one. I wouldn't change a thing except a back seat for the passenger. The bike in Greece starts from 27.000 euros. Let's save some money now.
I have already asked my local dealer for a test ride appointment. I'll let you know my first ride impression. November I'm visiting again Berlin, I hope to see some R18's there :)
I have just traded in my R9t for an R18, fantastic bike, having owned a host of cruisers from different manufacturers, this has a presence like nothing else.Whilst depreciation from list price is massive it enabled me to purchase a pre reg for half price, and so much more bike than the American brands.
This is the only New bike that I would consider. I've had bikes from almost every manufacturer but never BMW . Wouldn't replace my Harley but what a stablemate

I just paired my Softail Deluxe with my first BMW (R Nine T). Different enough to keep both but if I was forced to choose I'd keep my Harley. Can't fault the BMW. Fantastic, flexible motor with lots of power, character, amazing engine-braking; great handling, brakes, build-quality etc. But not every decision is a rational one. The heart wants what the heart wants. :-)
This bike is absolutely beautiful. I truly love the versatility and the option to personalize it with well made parts. As of February 2022, I plan on purchasing one in a couple weeks. What an absolutely beautiful.
Unlike all the Japanese Harley copies and unlike the English Harley copies this bike is uniquely German and more or less reminds me of the Beemers of yesteryear. With a modern Cruiser touch.... I like it. (Except for the dry clutch)
It is a beauty... I wonder if the engine builder or designers ever considered a single pin crankshaft. That beating heart you speak of can really only come from a single pin crank (Harley, Ducati, victory, Indian and more) I am and owner of a large displacement BMW and yes the engine design does have character, but the power pulse output is very sewing machine. Do love that BMW has done so many amazing things with this 18. It’s huge
This is a beautiful bike, I checked the website and here in the US it's under 20k for the classic model and theres also 2000 of free customization with already fully loaded model I am very interested as other makers will charge 5000 at least for more or less same specs without some of the features the r18 and it looks so cool.
Fish tail exhaust with external seams us cheap nasty and tacky! Premium priced goods need premium finish and premium looks. This bike fails in so many ways.
Really love the looks of the bike! Will for sure be my new wallpaper until I can buy one :D And really like the exhaust, looks uniq and sounded great for a stock exhaust :)
Very nice! I like the bobber. I bought an RnineT/5 last year and really enjoy it I have 5300 miles on it so far and the bike grows on me with the more miles I add!
Have had a deposit on one since Oct 2019 waiting for delivery. The exhaust will come off on day one. Like Harley the put a Sucky Ugly exhaust then offer a $2,000 replacement.
Looks fun to custom the bike, the exhaust is a must to change, a louder one maybe, and i think making a fairing for it may look interesting, just my opinion

Took a seat on the first edition yesterday. More room than I expected with that engine configuration. I noticed one problem straight away; the gear shift lever is very close to the bottom of the right jug. The top of my toe was touching the fins on the bottom. That was with a pair of sport bike shoes on and not proper cruiser boots. I checked the website and didn't see an optional shorter shift lever or any adjustability. Of course the dealer didn't have a clue yet. BMW do you have a solution for this problem? I don't want to melt my toes.
Hello Chad, the foot rests are not adjustable. However, you have the possibility to adjust the angle of the foot rests by choosing seat variants/heights and there is also the option of "floor boards", where the ergonomics change slightly. @@bmwmotorrad thank you, I'm excited to sit on the bobber style single seat since it appears to raise the seat height a bit. Which to your point may change the foot position slightly on that right brake lever and left gear lever. Looking forward to seeing the "bobber kit" version in dealers.
@@ccgg3913 I hope you actually get it and its OEM not some aftermarket add-on. I still do not see it mentioned anywhere on the specs or options and there have been reviewers citing the lack of cruise control available.

BMWs don't have problems. They do 100,000+ km testing with prototypes. Waiting is still a good idea though, dealers will sell off demo bikes eventually and more aftermarket parts will become available.
It's pretty and I've loved BMW bikes since I was a kid cutting class in the mid-90s but... a cruiser without ridiculously forward footpegs? I'm just not sure who this bike is for or how well it will sell. If I want a comfy bike I'd buy a K1600GTL or a Goldwing. If someone wants a cruiser, I'd think they'd go for a v-twin with feet stuck out like an ottoman. I love my '11 R1200R and my next bike will likely be an R nineT Scrambler. I say this from a position of love. I wish BMW Motorrad all the success in the world but I remember the R1200C and just wonder how well this will sell.
very very nice !!! it remembers me of course my R60 in the 1970 years .... my german friend had a R69 one and came lots of times to visit me and me to him in Berlin also !! good times !! no stupid covid crazy bullsh.... only freedom biking for eternity !!! thanks God for that !!! the past is the past but here is the fantastic waw reborn of the legendary "R" ones !!! very very nice bike !!

@@bmwmotorrad ok ok thanks !! keep going like that and you cann't do anything wrong ! on the contrary !!! yes I had lots of lots of super nice times on my R60 ! those were the big bikes in those times, like the "gendarmerie" in France !! but I did have the ones "Série 2" with the Earls Fork (much more beautifull than the normal fork !!) .... namaste !
The biggest problem with this bike is the ride position is too low that it lead to lack of lean angle. Little bit low corner enough to make your pegs scratch. The sad thing is it happen too often even if you ride slow. I'm fine with mid control but it problem when the ride position is low.
Beauty is in the eyes of beholder ! I find these bikes with ultra wide boxer engines and fishtail exhausts to be Ugly ! I prefer the looks of Rocket 3 and Triumph Bobber..
seems like a poor engine layout for a cruiser. no possibility of forward controls or forward foot rests for stretching out. certainly a sweet looking bike though. and it sure does check off the box for being different.
I would like a reasonable displacemement boxer engine bike like the one i had; a 1990 R 80 GS. But BMW thinks we need these exponents nowadays. How is it possible??????
