Cool mod video, I got a 97 GT converted to a Cobra with a 6 spd. I just use a 12 Oz water bottle and place it in the back. And just reach for it at traffic lights or when traffic is slow.
Well I have a 99 so I have 1.5 working cup holders .the coffee mug holder to the rear has a cut in it for mug handles =.witch causes redbull /monster or what ever to fall over during left handed turns .to fix this go to o'rilleys and buy a 3"or 3.1/4" silicone intake coupling.i forget the exact diameter the longer the better. Slip it in the rear mug holder .now you can during redbull skinny can while canyon driving and not spill during a corner
Definitely a worth while upgrade overall. If you already have to do any color matching, I'd seriously consider an 01-04 console; I find the rear cup holder on my 98 to be too shallow (things tip over too easy), and the front one gets in the way of 2nd and 4th. Sure, I can rev 1st and 3rd a bit higher and get away with it, but it's so annoying.
Funny. I just bought a '99 and I want to get rid of the factory cupholders because they're useless... especially with a 5-speed. I can't imagine that the earlier ones are even worse.
I have elbowed a few coffee cups into the back seat of my 95. My fault tho for grabbin gears. I once sent one back there just from coming off the line too hard. Bear in mind its bone stock! Definitely too small compared to the later sn95s. If you think the 99 is useless imagine only being able to hold a soda can.
@@junkyardblaze189 I can Invision it because that's also all you can do with the 99'. Rear cupholder is too shallow and wide to hold literally anything, front cup holder is too close to the shifter so 2nd and 4th have broken just about any cup I put in there, except of course a 12oz soda can. It may look more useful, but it's still terrible
I have a 95gts that’s auto and came with a factory spoiler. It’s decent inside but the factory paint has faded horribly. Do these cars move well with GT40 swaps and upgrades on the transmission?
Automatic transmission upgrades and something like a 3.73 rear gear really change the charactor of these cars. Lots of people swear by the GT40 stuff, but I think there are much better options out there. It really comes down to the budget you have in mind. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
Man those cup holders are absolutely useless. The first spot gets hit in 2nd and 4th. And the second one just spills everything because of the hole in the wall
No what has an even worse cupholder? C5 Corvette. Not only are they just as tiny, they're in the way of the lower dash stack and on the opposite side of the gearshift when the drink falls over. There you go...the Sixxer beats one of the best sports cars of the time!
Ive thought about this exact mod before but i ended up using a 99-04 center console with cup holders instead but the dimensions arent exact so it doesnt fit 100% but i always wondered what the restomod version would look like
@@GrandTouringConcepts no problem its not major differences but there are slight gaps in between the floor and the end of the plastic in certain areas but its not that bad the biggest hassle is changing out the harness underneath for the right one because the ends of the connectors vary from different models and years of sn95s but its worth the built in cupholders🤘🏻
Sharp eye! It is a little lower down the performance ladder, this is our V6 "project car" but the Green Mustang in the title sequence is my own 1995 Mustang GTS, but I don't think you'd be able to spot the window regulators in those clips. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
Me too, on my minty 1995 GTS there is no way I'd do it. On this ratty Sixxer it was a no brainer. A person could always get a salvage yard console and hack away.
God I love my new edge, but the interior is atrocious. Also the cupholder they swapped in is worse. Anything smaller than a 12oz gets hit with the shifter, broken many styrofoam cups that way, and the second cupholder is so shallow and wide it can't be used by anything either. Worst cupholders I've ever used and I think I'd prefer that pull out kind
