The New Evercade update is an advertisement 

This whole library thing only benefits Blaze. The user doesn't need their library listed in the system. They can just look on their shelf to see what carts they have. It only exists to show what collections you don't have and where you can go to buy them. That's why the carts that have been announced and aren't even out yet are included. To show you where you can go buy them. There are only two things I can think of where I can see this even being a little bit useful. If there's a game you want to play, but can't remember what cart its on... or if you want to see what order the collections were released in (although it would have been nice if they had shown the release date instead of just the year). But I'm really stretching with these examples because those are both things I can find with a simple google search anyway.

I think a lot of companies (like Sega and SNK / Neo Geo) are looking at Evercade now and thinking, "We should have done this ourselves, and we _could_ have done it better." Although I'm Evercade's harshest critic, the whole ecosystem is still better value for money than the "néo-rétro" stuff that Sega and SNK published in the same number of years. Remember the Game Gear Micro? And do you want to know how much I spent on two Neo Geo arcade sticks plus a mini?

The only benefit I see from this library is that you can browse it and see what fancies you right now, then you go to your shelf, grab the cartridge and play that particular game. So its in essence an everSD Lite :D

I'd honestly wonder how much money evercade brings in. weird their big announcement was just an update. Hopefully, this will push them to get some cooler stuff out there.

The whole point for me was like the old re-introduction of Vinyl and Cassettes , having the Wonderful artwork and beautiful presentation to hold and view in your hands , something Blaze have made magnificently ! Every Cart and console is an event , but the digital age is spoiling that ...please please Blaze keep the flag flying (showing my age i guess !)

I only updated EXP at this time as I don't use it. The encyclopedia is very useful as it will save me popping a cart in or going to the Evercade website to see what other games were on it because a cover doesn't say a lot... I have to see a screen shot to remind my self what the lesser interesting games look like that I have lol. I recall asking for something like this at cart 10 Technos Collection 1 as we had many games by that point, would of made more sense that early on to of had it but better late than never. 🙂 They finally gave us the original Evercade theme back on EXP tho, that nice electric blue fade, (minus the red bars down the side) with that white text. Evercade has been more like a monthly magazine, a bit like a Star Trek mag where you get something to read and 3 episodes on DVD to watch till the next issue. The Evercade manual is that something to read and the carts is the DVD. Just this mag covers a slice of gaming history that you can also play. I said this to Crazy Burger when he was feeling a bit down, and he said he'd never thought of it like that. 😉

I'm done with Evercade. The first disappointment came from the impossibility to load any save state on Duke Nuken 3D: many updates have been done, and that cartridge still doesn't have been fixed yet! Now this...I agree about the announcements: they must never annouce them because of the speculation that these announcements bring in parallel. At the end of the story, this thing of the "official licenses" is a partial rip-off, considering that licensing dealings with them have these very short ranges of time. For this very specific reason, downloading the very same roms from the web (whatever it's possible of course, and I'm talking about some custom roms they got) isn't a problem, also because the stop of the license means something that all retrogamers hate: the fu**in' speculation! So, at the very end, what's the difference from discountinued Evercade cartridges and real, old consoles' cartridges? There's no difference, you have to spend a lot of money to get them at the actual state.

Yes, I agree PK and won't be updating my firmware. I don't think my OCD could take being constantly reminded about what carts I don't have :-) Pity I won't get to play the Game of the Month but I hear it's quite a short experience at under 1 hour to complete. Keep up the awesome work!

I already had one cart ruined by an update on the original Evercade handheld. No more updates for me. I'll stick with the Super Pocket, what carts I have and call it a day. I like the concept, but their execution leaves a lot to be desired.

Remember when they promised to improve the cover art (displayed in the menu, on screen) with an update? That was on the bullet point list (within the last six months) and I was genuinely hoping some of the TERRIBLE icons would get an upgrade: Pico Arcade, I'm looking at you!

The fact that it's just the library doesn't help much, at least let me mark the ones I've beaten!

I do not plan on updating my Evercade. Collectors got to collect. Collectors will collect.

Would be cool if you could have flashed the cartridges to the console and handheld and took the library with you .

Feel like i am on a conveyor belt as i have every cart so far , i had to pay over the odds for a legacy cart and i don't think that's fair ...great point ! my decision to start so i suppose it's my fault ! , great system ...but like you scared to update !

Out of all the updates this to me is the most pointless one evercade has done. I haven't updated my evercade VS or EXP since December. Especially since a lot of these updates seem to cause some cart's to stop working or crash people's save States. Basically they seem to solve 1 problem and 2 more seem to pop up afterwards. Even though I'm still going for a full evercade cartridge set. I haven't given up on Blaze yet. But I am starting to lose consumer confidence with them. They need to sort these issue's out for good. They should of just stuck with keeping the updates simple and stop trying to update the bios menu constantly.

I got the Evercade because of the older arcade games on it, and I were hoping for more of that, not Nintendo/Amiga/SEGA/Atari games I don't like and will never play. I have two C64 systems (C64C & C64G), so collections like this is also a waste...
