An excerpt from Randy on his website... "Folks talk quite a bit about quality, but today that is something that many don't want to pay for. Browning never has offered autoloading shotguns as good as the A-5, or the Beretta-barreled B-80, and Beretta has never made an autoloader as well as they did with the 303 and the 390. Just like with bolt-action rifles, there seems to be a race to the bottom as far as quality of machining, quality of the assembly, and quality of finish. The shotguns that do the large numbers are cheap. Many of my neighbors spend more for two months of cable than they would for a new shotgun. There isn't much question what has lasting value, but many do not see it that way." Isn't that the damn truth these days....? What a cry'n shame.
I actually think it gives a nice sporty look, I just layawayeda 32 inch barrel, I love semiautomatic shotguns, even though I have some nice overunders.
@@RandyWakeman hi Randy, I just subscribed to your channel, I might be asking this question too early is instead of checking your videos but have you shot the a 400 xl and how do you compare that to this Fabarm, recoil and all, how is the recoil with 1 1/8 oz.
Hey Randy, Awesome review and i just picked one up as a backup gun/soft shooter for my wife. Sorry if I missed this in the review, both video and written, but I was wondering what the stock recoil pad is in thickness, and whether the recoil pads that fabarm sells on their website will work on this model? I am interested in what the length of pull would be with the 12mm thick recoil pad on their site if that one works versus the stock pad @ 14.75 LOP. Thanks
All four L4S pads on the Fabarm USA site are interchangeable. fabarmusa.com/product-category/recoil-pads/ . Stock recoil pad is 22mm: the 12mm pad reduces the LOP by 10mm or .394 inches.
Got another question for you. Absolutely love this gun btw. I am thinking about the kinetic recoil reducer to add weight to the stock, but I just want to balance the gun a little to the rear. Is the Fabarm recoil reducer just a screw in dead weight or is it those spring type recoil reducers that actually move? I tried mercury recoil reducers in my citori and couldn't stand the sloshing around between shots on simos. If the fabarm is a spring system, I might just opt for a dead weight cylinder over that. Thanks again.
My Benelli Ultra Light (20) and Benelli Vinci's fit me like a glove, including awesome trigger reach. Considering this L4S vs a Benelli Montefeltro Sporting, with price diff only $100 in Canada. Thanks for doing the review Randy. Can you comment on how the fit of the L4S sporting might be compared to the Montefeltro? It's impossible for me to test fit either before purchase, but I would gamble comfortably on the Benelli fitting well, and it has a huge track record for reliability. Franchi Affinity's and Browning A5s, for example, I can't reach the trigger at all comfortably, for comparison. Cheers.
Sorry, I'm not much help-- as the new A5 and Franchi Affinity models fit me well, a does the L4S. The Vinci did as well . . . but the safety was a long reach.
Thanks for another detailed review. Are the stock dimensions basically the same as the hunter but with longer LOP due to the thicker pad? I am curious which fits you better out of the box. I am 6 ft with longer arms and wondering which pad would fit me better.
Randy, For sporting clays use only, would you choose the ls4 sporting or the xlr5 velocity fr? I found both available used and the xlr5 is 200 cheaper.
Hey randy sporting model is seem to be pretty shotgun with wood stock. But I want to by initial hunter l4s not Grey hunter purely for upland hunting like tough chukar what is your kind openion sir? Moreover why l4s Grey hunter is your favorite not the initial hunter? Reason other than high grad wood
