Thank you for showing this. I am getting a pressure canner soon which will help me get started for my own consumption. Maybe farmers markets. We'll see. That's why I want a pressure canner. So I can pressure can, pressure cook, and sterilize production blocks small scale. I have a grow tent and small indoor greenhouse for colonization and fruiting chamber. I'm gathering my supplies.

Clean rooms are set up with the hepas in the ceiling and return air from the floor. I could give you a design if ya like. Similar cost

Hi SWM. Newbie here :) After sterilizing in the autoclave, do you open the valve during the cooling down process? OR ... Do you sterilize, cool overnight (with the valve closed) and then open the autoclave valve in front of the flow hood, just prior to inoculation? TIA

@18 Hands 1g of peptone per 500ml ? thats mycelium crack, I normally use 1g per 1,000ml i have been using 20g dextrose, 0.5g soy peptone, 850ml water, run through a coffee filter & PC 35 mins @ 15 psi I dont like the way LME clumps up as soon as its exposed to humidity.

Things he is so familiar with that he neglects to explain due to his second nature relationship to that understanding... I notice with his Agar to liquid "expanding" transfers... He seemingly uses an absolute minimum quantity of the solidified Agar and drops it into a maximum optimal volume of nutrient media and it dawn's on me that it is a dutifully intentional act that serves to allow the mycelium to expand to extraordinary volumes. Expansion is super interesting

Great videos. I have never grown mushrooms so I do not understand the need for such sterile labs during inoculation when mushrooms seem to grow so well outdoors in far from sterile environments. Are there studies proving the efficacy of such sterile steps being needed? Are failure rates in non sterile environments that high?

In nature things are in balance. Everything is food for everything else. Not the same in an indoor environment. One mold or yeast can flourish faster then the mycelium and with nothing there to take care of it, it will take over. Nobody like moldy mushrooms.
