The fact even Marques broke his iPhone for the first time makes me very concerned and not want to switch to the 15 pro/max. I was surprised he was defending it so much

I was at the Apple Genius Bar a few days ago to get my iPad fixed. While I waited, I played around with the 15 models and I noticed that one in particular was running SUPER hot. Like almost too hot to hold for a long period of time. But all the others were fine.

The heating is not gone after the initial setup. I got my phone 2 weeks ago and it’s still getting hot. I installed the latest update 17.0.3 in the afternoon. That night, I got the “it’s too hot” message. I don’t have IG installed. This is issue is not fixed at all.

I was thinking about getting the pro or the pro max but I backed out and changed it to the 15 plus and I've not really had any issues so far

I just got call from my wife complaining very hot temperature of iphone 15 pro. She said phone was on charge. She used apple 20 watt charger with apple cable. She stopped charging and in 5 minutes phone was cooled. I have 15 pro max and at one time with whatsapp video call, i felt my phone heated very much.

Why is no one talking about the 14 heating issue it’s literally pausing the charge at 80 due to temperature

Apple just dropped the update, yesterday(17.0.3) that will fix the heat. It was also a couple of apps (Instagram being one) that was causing the issue as well, and Apple worked with their developers to fix this. Instagram just had an update yesterday as well. It’s definitely not hardware, or the titanium, because the titanium is just the side rails and the majority of the phone is aluminum. The A18 Pro needs to focus more on less power consumption, rather than power.

I have an iPhone Xr, and I had "too hot to hold" incidents once a day right after I updated to ios17. It must be an ios17 issue as far as I can see.

For what it's worth, I opted my 15 pro max into the developer builds and had no thermal issues at all. Unfortunately I don't have a reference point though since I did that on day 1 and developer builds were already on 17.1

I had an overheating issue with my iPhone 12 Pro Max once I upgraded to iOS 17.0. It was in my pocket, when I started feeling some heat by my knee. I pulled it out, no app was running on it, but it was hot. And the only way for me to sop it from heating was to restart the iPhone. So, I think this is a software issue they have to fix ASAP, hopefully.

I see so many people warring over ios vs android. I use both and I feel like they’re just phones. At relatively the same prices, they all feel pretty similar to me 🗿 sidenote, I used Pocophone F1, iPhone 5s, S21 FE, and now iPhone 15 Pro.

I got the iPhone 15 pro yesterday at 2pm, I am a heavy user and I have been heavily using it since I got it leading up to this comment today. Luckily as soon as I unboxed it iOS 17.0.3 with the “overheating” fix was already out and obviously I installed it immediately, from my testing it has not over heated once and I’ve been running typical social media apps and RU-vid. I charged it this morning to 93%, unplugged it at 8:13am it hasn’t seen a charger since and it’s sitting at 49% battery at 4:52pm. My testing is very limited as it’s only been a day lol but I will keep an eye on it, luckily so far so good without overheating issues.

Accroding to testings from Geekerwan, 3nm process is not as good as expected. A17 Pro is showing similar efficncy as A15 and A16, yet apple somehow decided to boost it's CPU core's frequency to 3.78GHz, which is stupitly high considering iPhone's poor thermal design. Knowing apple, they will probably make modification to CPU and GPU scheduling, limit boost frequency and usage of power cores to solve this issue. However, iPhone designers should really starting to pay more attention to the thermal designs in thier product, especially if they want gaming to be a key feature of an iPhone.

From what I have been watching in regards to durability on the iPhone Pro Max 15 is that in one of the tare down videos there is a metal plate was was part of the back panel glass design and was integrated into the back in previous iPhones but in the new 15 that metal plate is no longer attached to the back panel but is now part of the internal structure of the phone. This is why the back panel is cheaper to replace but the integrity of the back panel is not as rigid without that metal plate.

I like the 15 Pro Max a lot, but I feel like I gave up a good battery with the 13 Pro Max. I’m kind of thinking I should have just replaced the battery, and kept it truckin’

I have the 15 pro max and it definitely over heats, I'm talking to where I feel like I need to remove my case before it melts (I'm sure it wouldn't either way) or it's too hot to hold. It only happened when I'm charging wirelessly though

Makes me glad i went s23 ultra then i had the same exact pocket drop doing my marathon prep about a month or two ago. Fell on rocks i was 100% sure it was gone. Barely scuffed. 😂 -caseless - and screen protectorless after 2 failed attempts to put one of those uv installations.

The 15 and 15 Pro have different processors, the 15 has last years chip. So if both phones are overheating is has to be software. The fast that people are seeing it on older phones means it must be iOS 17.

…after all the background tasks are finished (syncing iCloud and apps can take days after initial setup) the heating issue seems to be completely gone. Also, check for battery utilization in settings. It tells you right there what apps used battery and whether it’s an On-Screen use or Background use…

it's definitely ios17. My iPhone 14 pro used to run pretty smooth, but now with ios17, my battery dries so fast, and the mild increase in temp also makes typing on WhatsApp/IG/gmail/messaging apps laggy.

Just saying, but my 13 mini has this overheating problem as well. Must be software related.

Got my 15 Pro Max a few days ago and it gets no hotter than my 12 Pro Max that it's replacing. And that's while both are plugged into 30w chargers.

My 13 pro max has randomly been heating up since the iOS 17 update.

Same thing is happening to my iPhone 8 after a recent software update (within last month or two). Sometimes heats up to a very high temp during normal use which wasn't happening before, in fact it barely got warm or hot at all until recently.

I understand contacts between creators and apple but please follow through with all information e.g iphone 15 falling from 2 stories and gets destroyed but please don't forget to mention the 14 pro max survived and the 15 got destroyed. I got the Pro Max, My average screen active time averages 11hrs38mins a day with 2hrs6mins and I left with around 20% when I go to bed. It’s way better than my 11 pro max was after 4 years. So I’ve been more than happy with it so far. No heat issues with mine whatsoever after the initial setup and downloads while using the phone and having it plugged in. Other than that it’s been cooler than the old one too.

Bro, since the 15 came out my 14 pro overheats when listening to music and the battery drops like crazy. It's not always, but when I cook I put on music on a bluetooth speaker and it's happened like 2 or 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Edit: A more accurate statement would be that it overheats ever since I upgraded to iOS 17)

The reason why iPhone 15 pro back glass break so easily it’s because the 15 pro doesn’t have metal plate attached to the back glass instead it’s on the back of the phone itself unlike the 14, 14 series have metal plate attached to the glass.

You do know what's going on, but you're leaving it out. It's IG and Facebook. But if you want to bash the 15, you'll "forget" about the lack of optimization causing the app to hit all the cores in the processor, causing the heat issues.

I don’t have Instagram or any social apps in my phone, or gaming apps, and I do get heating randomly. Changing wireless is kind of scary cause the phone heats like hell… RU-vid is kind of random. Sometimes I am watching videos and it heats like hell to the point I stop… I noticed when in horizontal mode it’s worst. And the battery drains fast when it’s heating… So far I only have regrets about upgrading from the 14 pro max to the 15 pro max. Not even the camera is a plus for me. Phone looks fragile somehow and worst.

My 15 pro has been fine temp wise. It has had some issues charging wirelessly, but the battery life has been way better than i expected.

I tested out the IG & Spotify theory on my 13 Pro & it indeed got burning hot within 10 minutes or less. I’m waiting for my 15 pro max so I’m glad i have to wait at least another week to compare as well.

My 15 Pro Max have no issues after the IOS 17.0.3 update. And battery life is pretty good! Did a test yesterday and i got 11 hours and 12 minutes of screen on time!

I have the 14 Plus and I did experience it getting too hot this one time I was reading reviews in Shopee (a big online shop in asia). I was on ios 17.0.2 that time. I noticed it got cooler as soon as I closed the app.

I believe it was way back with the iPhone 3 (maybe earlier) that some copies had an issue with suddenly discharging the battery, causing the phones to literally get dangerously hot. Not surprisingly, Apple was all over that issue, asking people to stop using the affected phones and rapidly getting replacements out to customers. I did have one of those phones and was impressed with how Apple handled the matter.

The thing the average consumer doesn’t really understand is that CPUs get hot. Like well over 100° hot. The difference between my PC’s i13900k and my phones A17 chip is that my PC’s CPU is liquid cooled. I don’t know what tolerances Apple is using, but my phones (since the 13 Pro) have always gotten relatively warm during high workloads. I also don’t know what other users are experiencing when they say “overheating.” If the phone is still on, it hasn’t overheated. But Apple acknowledged this is a problem for some users. I think it’s likely an issue on the software side. If it had to do with the actual hardware, it would never have made it through QA if even 5% of testers experienced hotter than normal phones. Some app or process may be utilizing more of the CPU than it’s supposed to.

Can someone address the fact that after you restore an iPhone from either an iCloud backup OR transfer date between devices for a new setup, the phone is working for WEEKS, indexing photos for iMessage, restoring in some cases YEARS worth of text conversations etc.. It's working quite a bit when you wouldn't expect it to be. I restored a week ago and STILL have photos indexing in iMessage. That coupled with active use, sure the CPU is going to be busy, therefore heating up. I can't speak for becoming extremely hot to the touch, but Apple will fix it. There's ALWAYS issues with new products and often times they can't be fixed until after the fact, when real word usage is occurring, because that is the very thing that uncovers the issues in the first place. Especially with new software. If we are going to scrutinize a $1,000 handheld device, then we should also be all over car companies, appliance companies and so on...

To me it's hilarious hearing someone talk about 8 hrs of screen-on time as really good... * laughs in Unihertz Tank * At least 80 hours of screen-on time, 30 DAYS of standby, average 12 to 14 days between charges! Yeah I know it's a brick, but once you get used to it, you really don't notice the weight. Worth it IMO if you want to spend as much time as possible unplugged.

It's only people that use garbage Social Media, and I have friends with 15's and 15 pro's and my 15 Pro Max has had no issues. I don't (and never have) have any overheating because I don't use garbage social media. I never have or will use Twitter or Tik-Tok, deleted my Facebook 10 years ago, and MySpace like 12 years ago. I used MySpace and Facebook because my friend Katie in early college signed me up for an account, and Facebook I got because you had to have an official college e-mail. The solution for this overheating seems pretty easy...people should stop using social media forever. No one cares about your opinion on Twitter or how weird you are compared to others (in a competition) on Tik-Tok. I hope everyone that uses Tik-Tok gets all of their information stolen and it's all up for sale because the Chinese sold it all to people on the blackweb.

like every gate , this blew out of proportions, yes some users mainly the ones using certains apps like instagram UBER and such had this issue, but it was just a software issue, Apple will not send to every big developer their brand new iPhones especially with this new 3 nm chi in fear of leaks, so they take the risk to let the phone get release and expect the devs to adjust quickly , and apple released already a fix on their side too , with the release fo IOS 7.0.3 , so it's a past story , and like every year the iPhone is the most scrutinized phones , you'll see 10 times more video about iPhones drops and test underwater than any other phones, why you ask ? just because even if you are an apple sheep or a hater , it's clicks , tons of videos, meaning cash , so everybody is happy , and 1 month later usually ,nobody talks about it anymore ... I would love to see this kinda of treatment on pixels, samsung , xiaomi etc... but why nobody talks about issues these phones encounters at each releases in the same amount of video and post ?? Money rules , of course Apple do mistakes, but they willl never give their brand new phone ahead of release to devs meaning they have to works with Xcode without the ability to see how the real final product will behave , it was memory overload issue, it is fixed, and no apple didn't had to lower the power of their chip . and I noticed the 15 PM was a bit hot , when I set it up and charging the first time at the same time, but actually It was cooler than my 14 PM in games and used less battery .... all these gates are just because it is Apple , the biggest company in the world and a ton of ppl are envious.... that's all.. one real issue we can say for sure on the 15 PM is that the new rounded design is cool but more prone to brack the back panel in case of high drops that 's the only real issue I see, the rest is software and either was fixed 2 days ago or will be fixed in the near future... I got the 15 pro max. I spent $1800 to get the most storage. I put it in a $300 leather case to go with my $1000 jacket and my $500 shoes. Just get a grip. I read these type of flex comments from people on all these tech videos all the time. Nobody cares that you bought it and spent x amount on an iphone. More importantly, there are so many other phones that cost significantly less that do some things better. You all need to stop measuring life by what latest iphone you have and your internet rep and social media likes. Sad.
