Today we have a first look at the newest bike from ‪@Ride1Up‬ . This is the Portola, Ride 1ups vision of the foldable ebike at an unbeatable price of $895 and $995 depending on the configuration you go with. I am going to breakdown all of the specs, as well as do a speed test, brake test, and hill test.

If you want more oomph on the lower PAS levels, you can adjust the power delivered by each to the motor in the advanced menu. Seems to be something Ride1Up enables on most, if not all, of their models.

Is there a video showing how to do this

I am so happy a came across this video. I was just looking at the lectric and that was pushing what I can afford at the moment. I’m Looking to use it as a good alternative for work transport and I think this will be perfect. Thanks Mike

What caught my eye was the Altus derailleur shifter. When my Sachs derailleur broke in shipping twenty years ago, the bike shop installed an Altus shifter. That thing has never given me any problems. 8 speeds, not bad. Most e-bikes seem to have the cheaper 7 speed Tourney derailleur shifter.

I wish I could start reviewing electric bikes but I have no idea how to start.... I've tried messaging companies and talking to people that do reviews but nothing has come from it, I'd even be interested in being in a line of people who are reviewing a bike. Whatever I have to do to get into something like this, I would do because I know my son would LOVE to go on long rides w/ me on random bikes.... I thought about reviewing borrowed bikes too but nobody in my town has any. I guess that's part of living in a small town in the middle of PA.... 😩 lol

@mikefefe Great review. I liked that you were doing a wheelie on it as I'm interested in how it handles with slightly more aggressive riding, nothing crazy, but zipping along on dirt roads and going up and down curbs. Did it feel solid? thx

In this presentation is missing a lot of the electrical and mechanical component description, since the value of this e-bike for your money is in the equipment, the positioning of the cables allowing easier maintenance and other details a out the higher number of magnets for the cadence sensors, and etc. The devil is always in the details which are missing in order to understand what one can get for its hard-earned money.

I'm new to e-bikes but not cycling. With a conventional bike, when going uphill I'd shift into a lower gear to help get up the thing. Does that concept also apply with e-bikes or just dial up the assist without adjusting gears? Thank you.

Hey, Thanks for the question. With the cadence sensor like what’s on this bike, it’ll give you the assistance in each pedal assist level with just a simple ghost pedal without actually having to put any force down. With a torque sensor, you are rewarded for the amount of pressure that you were putting down on the crank arms. So it’s a much better work out in my opinion. I definitely encourage you to check out both styles in order to see what best fits your riding style. Thanks again for the comment.

Any idea what the range difference would be between the 10.4 and 13.4 battery?
@chow-chihuang4903
@chow-chihuang4903 11 месяцев назад
About 28% more. The 25-40mi range estimate is for the 10.4AH battery. Of course, total weight, speed, terrain and wind speed affect what you’ll get. The low end is close to what you get using mostly throttle at 20mph.

Your delivery is going at 100 mph. How about slowing down. Sorry if that is the way you normally speak.

is this a torque sensor or a cadence senor
@chow-chihuang4903

Cadence sensor. 24 magnets on the disc, double the typical 12. You can adjust the power delivered at each PAS level in the menu to suit your tastes.
