This video came up in my recommended, and I'm so glad I clicked it! Well made and under-appreciated ngl. The mechanic is quite cool, and it's probably something that freestylers will learn first before pros can master and use it efficiently in RLCS, then it will come into regular ranked games if it is effective. I'd personally say that the "Purple shot" matches it well.

Honestly idc if its new or not what i care abt is there was some crazy mechanical people in 2019 and the old days basically the purple shot we saw in 2019 and 2023 for a 2019 player its impressive to do that especially because fancy mechs were not that known or recognised

It’s interesting because it’s a backflip into a pop, all other reset flicks are going with the ball, so pulling this off takes some practice, I haven’t hit it in comp yet but I wanna try to

the biggest problem i have with new mechanics is that most of the times, if you break them down, the single parts aren't new but judt the combination is. in these cases I'd call the "mechanic" what it consists of as long as that's still a reasonably short name: stall reset if the combination is still isefull and way too long then I'd start to think about getting it a different name.

this looks like a maktuf reset into a scoop using your flip, except done on the ground... doesn't seem new, just expanded to new usages in game

the maktuf is just added to the mechanic, not part of it. its not a scoop either because sometimes theres a stall instead of a flip. it adds a lot more speed than a scoop anyway.

You’re the first person to ask me what I think 🤣 I think both you’re points are right, but ultimately I think it’ll be hard to give credit to Leo, as mechs names should ultimately reflect the mech itself. I think the Bonk is probs the most accurate atm, but by no means is it the best name for the mech. In all honesty I’m cool with it being a Bonk, but I’d rather wait to see if someone can come up with something more accurate. That’s y I created this vid so everyone can have their say and the RIGHT name can be given to the mech, if one gets given at all. Thanks for asking!

Why do you keep referring to a "stall reset"? It's not a stall but backflip cancel and its not used in same ways as stalls.

I think when I said stall reset I was referring to some of the other mechs that r related to this new one. And ur right it it does use a backflip cancel. One interesting thing to note tho is that in some of the ground clips a stall has been used to get that speed, but I’m not quite sure if it matters whether u do that or the backflip cancel 🤷
