Hey Geo, just wanted to stop by and say thanks. I'm a 23 year old man who had nobody around to teach him how to shave with a straight, and you saved me a lot of scars I'm sure. I can now do it no problem. Respect brother!
The "ohh what's missing" stubble reveal is what kept me watching! I'm glad razor companies take the time to improve their products...I can't wait to try this product....
The brass Razorine you sold me last year has become one of my favorites! I enjoy using a straight razor but with how my beard grows I can't get as close on my neck or shave as quickly as with a DE. The Razorine provides a unique solution. I love engaging both right and left hand shaving. Looking forward to trying the "improved" Razorine... not just another humdrum safety razor.
Thanks Ben! Wait-Did you buy it or did I sell it to you, or both? Either way the new one is a vast improvement over the old and is a lot of fun to shave with!
That design reminds me of the first electric drills which were shaped like a bit-and-brace. They worked OK, but mainly they were a shape workers were familiar with. The gun-shaped drill is a better design, and once that came out the old type was pretty much relegated to antique stores. One advantage though is that if you're camping or traveling and want your luggage to be super-compact, the razorine takes up less space than a modern DE razor because it's flat.
Hi Geo- Great shave and razor review; thank you! Nice-looking update on this razor. Your explanations on using this razor are very clear and precise; a huge help to so many of us. I hope you are having a great weekend and best regards, as always!
Used my 34C from Shave nation the other day. Very nice shave using the proraso pre shave and eucalyptus and menthol shave cream. Very nice. One small nick under the nose but first time not that bad. Thanks Geo for the videos and supplies. You got me setup very nicely for DE shaving.
The thing is I still watch your videos even though I'm trying to grow a beard. And with every video you upload you're making this more and more difficult...
Loved the beard appearing with the snap of a finger! The razorine notches are great for a tight fit with the blade. I wish a lot more razors were set up like that.
I would love this! Once again you showed me another razor that I gotta have. And it proves me right when I said you got skills with every type and variety of razor out there. I love how different this is.
Couldn’t decide to pull the trigger on the original Razorine, because of the handle... looked like it would cramp my hand. Now this one looks like a deal I can get a shave on..... thanks Geo for posting this video.and showing how to use this razor.....oh, yeah.......I bought the indestructible bowl, and I just want to say thanks! I
Merkur Futur and all clones of such need to add grooves! I currently use a "ShamWow!" type microfiber towel to change settings and keep my hands dry when using Futur type shavers!
I became interested in one of these last week and as I currently have a Shave Nation order in the mail I started to wish I had ordered one with my existing order. Then I get on RU-vid and see a brand new video with an improved model. Must be fate, I’ll have to place another order with the new Razorine and inevitably buy a couple more goodies that I don’t really need 😉 Gotta love it! I’m excited to get my Shave Nation Patriot brush when it gets here next week too! PS I saw your Cubs jersey in a video and have to say- Go Redlegs!! Excited to see what Castellanos and Strop do for us this season, we will treat them well.
That looks like a fun thing to shave with! Pity you can't use both sides on one cheek, for example, or just go to another one without rinsing with all that lather and stubble gathering up pretty quick.
Hey Geo! This will shock you, but the Razorine is not completely an original design! I have a screen shot from a video taken in an American castle built in the 20's or 30's. In this pic you can see an old open comb version of a very simular razor. If you want to see the pic, send me an email address. I may be able to find the youtube video link as well.
I have an early model Razorine have used it 3 times and nicked myself up,had trouble being right handed would not dare switching hands lol! may consider the new model! thanks
hey.... wait a second.... how did Geo get a beard so fast? ;) Thanks for the video GEO! i have version 1 of the Razorine i got from you. was a bit of a learning curve but otherwise great. had no issue with the grip. I can see how some may feel that way. Preference i suppose.
Sometimes I feel that my beard grows almost that fast! ;) Would you say this one is kinda like a shavette on training wheels? Nice looking razor for sure. Thanks for sharing the review, Geo!
I have it, like a lot as it looks and feel gorgeous. However i tend to cut myself, and I shave with a shavette since 20 years ago. In particular I shave with the Daune shavette, that has the very same head. I suppose in the razorine there is a larger gap between the razor and the blade. Maybe I just have to work on the angle, as I am probably used to the very similar razor head of the Daune shavette. P.S. I am using the old version. And indeed it could also be about the handle
Do not under estimate this razor lol. Geo just makes it look easy. I'm getting to the point of putting this razor away. Can't seem to master going against the grain under the nose and under my ear and down the neckline in my right side 😣 Been some bloody messes in my bathroom lol
It looks fun and like a good performer, but it seems like it's not much different from a shavette; just a different holding method. Would you compare the 2?
This razor looks pretty cool. If I'm a guy who's been shaving with a Merkur 34C (I believe I saw a review you did on it before I bought it, could be wrong) for 4 or 5 years, and looking to spice up the shaving game a little, do you think it would be difficult to pick something like this up? What's the margin for error like on this? I seldom knick or irritate my skin anymore with my 34C (have to be pretty reckless at this point, otherwise it's a quick process), but I am interested in picking one of these up. Probably a brush as well, mines clearly not dense at all compared to the ones you use. Yours make mine look like it's balding.
Very nice Geo, I’d heard from someone who knows Gianni that there was a new version coming out. It was interesting to see where you were holding it on the handle, I can’t hold the original one there and have it feel balanced. I did a comparison shave video a few weeks ago between the Turkish Zazor and the original Razorine, and the new version seems to have addressed minor criticisms I had with regards to length, weight and balance. A couple of questions if you don’t mind. How far has the balance point moved down the handle? Has Gianni made any changes to the head of the razor? I know loading the original isn’t always as easy as you made this one look. Thank you in advance.
Hi Dave, I think the new premium version has corrected the few flaws that the original razor had. The handle thickness and grooves allow you to grip it anywhere along the handle easily now. The blade dropped in and seated evenly the first time out of the box.
I got one of the new ones. Any hints for using it to shave a head. I got a few nicks (I’m sure it’s me) using a voshtok blade. There seems to be a wide angle where it is shaving. On the face it looks like you have it angled quite a bit. Just playing with hair on my arm it seems to shave fairly flat. Thoughts on the unseen portions of a head? I didn’t nick the front only what I was shaving by feel on.
Hi mate, i love your videos and i started to use nice shaving products (like the pre-shaves, shaving brush, soap and creams, after shaves, balms...etc) for some time now; the only thing is that after a couple of failed attempts with a safety razor i had to go back to the only razor that goes well with me...the very simple Gillette Blue 2. Believe it or it's the only set of blades i can use to have a close shave with zero nicks or irritations. Nevertheless i would love to be able to use a traditional razor...can you give me an advice on a decent safety razor i can get and what blades to use so that i can have another go at it?? is there a combination that is ideal for people like me that need to learn the ABC?? Thank you and keep up the good works....
viskios Maybe try a less aggressive razor? I like the gentleness of the Merkur Futur adjustable on the lowest setting. I use it with Feather blades. Very sharp so use no pressure. The heavy weight of the razor does the work. I usually get irritation if the hair is not soft enough or if I apply pressure.

I see you've got an old stock Astra blade. Anyone else having major issues with the new Astra blades? I just went through 5 new Astra in a row and they we're all dull right out of the pack.
Neptunian I have the Astra with the etched logo and the old ones too, I’m not feeling a difference between them. Try Gillette Platinum blades, they just knocked my Astra blades to second place.
Pretty weird actually, I just received that shipment and those were the blades that were in it. I was surprised to see that blade as well. I'm wondering if they didn't go back to the original blade... Anybody know?
The old blades are silky smooth, but this 100 sleeve pack I got off amazon has the new laser etching. They are the worst blades I've ever used and reading over the amazon reviews their are a few hardcore astra blade lovers that are experiencing the same issue. Maybe it's a quality control issue or maybe the machine that finishes the edge is needing maintenance, I don't know. Its literally like the blades were made but were never honed at finish. They will eat you alive!
I have started DE shaving in November last year and last week was the first time when I use a shavette ... No cuts, no irritation just follow @geofatboy indication and you will be just fine.
Hey Geo. Which do you prefer between the Proraso eucalyptus and the TOBS peppermint? I use the the TOBS right now and I love it but am wondering if I'd like the Proraso more.
Sorry to burst your (water) bubble but no, I do not. The way I shave when the camera's on is the same as when it's off. Water is a valuable commodity and I consider it a luxury to be able to twist the lever and have a forceful stream of it at a moment's notice. And-I also shut the water when I'm soaping up my body in the shower.
I used to be like you, but any of these safety razors/shavettes are way better shavers then that cartridge garbage. It's like washing machines, sure you get all the fancy technology in these newly built ones, but they are garbage and break after 5 years.
