Stretching skin is fundamental when I use the straight razor. The way I shave my customer 's beard, firstly, I give massage with applying beard gel which get them softer. Secondly, wrapping beard parts with a hot steaming towel. And then, lathering with warm shaving brush only half side. Never forget to check which direction each beard grows because it should be no two are alike the same as a fingerprint. First shaving is going with the grain. Second shaving is against the grain not to come blood out. Next, another side is applied a steaming towel again. And shave the same way. Believe or not, most of my customers usually fall in sleep during getting my shave. The best moment is when I hear the sound of their snore. I think myself they trust me although I'm using such a dangerous tool 😊 I really love my job so I respect Geo that he can shave with using both hands. Unbelievable ‼️
Hi, Geo. I'm wondering if you want to try using other blade which I recommended you before, I will send it to you. I know you have some straight razors by Feather company. The blade my recommendation is not Feather's one but it's a superb combination of the two stuff. Believe me, I shave that way for my customers every day. Would you show me where to send it to you?
I'm here for the Proraso review. Just ordered some after watching a Proraso ASMR shaving video and picking up all 14 of my ebay straights and polishing them, honing them, and stropping them right after a 20 year hiatus. Can't wait to try it.
Watching this shave brought back memories of watching my friend’s father shaving with a straight razor back in the 1960s. He used to shave old school in the laundry. Anyway nice shave Geo. I wouldn’t be game to use one myself and I’m very happy with the trusty old DE razor
i too wanted the red proraso in a balm, i always thought the alchohol will irritate me but boy was i wrong. I love the red proraso, cream, soap and aftershave lotion!
Love my Boker/Shave Nation King Cutter. I use the proraso white sensative skin line. I like to finish my shave with a dusting of Pinaud Clubman powder for a nice barbershop feel and smell.
Thanks so much for this video. You won’t believe I was watching (Daniel Craig) James Bond and fell in love with the straight shaver. Brilliant video, will be watching in the future.
Here's a tip: while bowl lathering, wring out/squeeze out the excess lather from the brush into your bowl, then continue lathering. I get tons of lather from this. Just make sure the brush isn't too wet or you could drown the lather.
You are a pro at this Geo... I just received my first shavette (Feather DX wood) and I tore my face up (some good slashes). I hope I can get the hang of it! Lol, makes me wish I just used my Feather Safety 😂.
Hi Geo- Great straight razor shave; thank you! Nicely done, as always! It is so instructive and enjoyable to watch you shave! I hope you have a great rest of the week. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Geo!
Geo have you ever used barbasol out of the can. My dad and I have used that. My dad for years a proud but not arrogent one of the good cops retired corrections officer and me only 31 love your vidoes thanks
Yes, it's not my fave, but I have. Try a brush and some real cream or soap from a tube or jar and you'll enjoy the experience and result much more. Props to you and your Dad!
I really love your shaving videos. Really informative and helpful. But can you shave with a straight razor with only your one dominant hands? Right or left. Will be more helpful for beginners like us. Have a great weekend. Thanks. 🙂
Hey Geofatboy, I’m sure there’s new students of Wetshaving along with me. Is there a video, or can you make a brief video explaining proper care and maintenance/ cleaning of razors, brushes, bowls? Also storage for them? Much love, Rob
We always see geos pro shaving, but what about bloopers or stories about bad shaving. Maybe times before you were really good about this horror story knicks or cuts lol.
I did my first straight razor shave yesterday and I survived no nicks or cuts!!! I think I was so confident cause I have tons of practice with a Shavette and a Kamasori style one that takes the feather artist club blades. I got a Gold Dollar honed by the Stallion on RU-vid and I told him I was ready to step my game up and he recommended I get a Theirs-Issard. Do you have one of them?
I´m sorry for that question but maybe I was always doing it wrong. I use preshave, apply it to my wet face, let it there, rinse off and apply shaving creme/soap. You just applied soap over the preshave, is there a lot of difference if you rinse off or not in between?!
Like the reviews and demos with all the different products. I see you use a tube often. Is there a way to get that type of consistent lather with Williams cake soap?
great shave geo, greetings from Greece. How about doing a ''Rambo'' setup that you use: no pre-shave oil or cream, shaving soap with no scent, Muhle R41 with a feather blade and fine snake bite for your aftershave.
Thanks so much Geo! A great treat for us straight razor guys. Sometime in one of your next few videos, will you use the Spartacus again? We’ve seen it a couple times this year, but it’d be awesome to see it back in action.:)
In third pass I have to go against the grain in xtgr because of my weird Hai growth... It goes without saying, it is very tough with shavette. Could you please Geofatboy make a video for that?

Earlier I was using 3blade - razor. After seeing your videos, greatly inspired to use straight razor. Presently using straight razor (with at least 2 cuts per each shave), What I observed is that beard is growing too fast. By evening lot of stubble is building up. Is my assumption right. Any tips to maintain clean shave for minimum two days.
I really want to try a straight razor. I went to double edge because my whiskers are so coarse. However, even on sale at there time of posting this video, the price is prohibitive.
It's not the price for me. It's the maintenance part. The stones are more expensive than the razor itself, plus the strops and oils and pastes. It's a great hobby for those who know what they're doing.
Recently i'm enjoying myself using a shavette razor, it has the jesture and look of the straight razor but at a fraction of the cost using the blades of a double edge. Of course we're talking about different things and i myself thought it was just a useless middle thing, instead i found a different style of shaving that pleases my needs better than any de that i tried so far. Maybe you could try it as i did and find what you prefer
Another great video, Mr Geo !!! Thanks very much. Would you accept the challenge of shaving using normal hands soap ? What is normally called "The warrior's shave" .
I use a shavette and I'd be interested to know too. I do love the convenience of the shavette and do get good shaves from it, but I feel like my next step up will be to a real straight.
A shavette works the same way a straight does but I've found are less forgiving. Mainly because the design requires you to operate it at a higher angle to the skin than a traditional straight razor does. I save my Feather Artist Club for travel where carrying around a strop isn't as practical. I would invest in a decent straight and perfect your technique with it before going back to using a shavette again. It takes a little more time because of the stropping process but I think the additional 5 minutes is well worth it,
@@dannybeeson5084 Very well said, thanks for the explanation Edit: And the exposed sharp corners blade on shavettes can easily nick you in tricky areas.
Andrew-Love this question! I'd venture to say that about 90% of bathrooms have incorrect lighting for shaving, and it irritates the hell out of me. I think I'm going to make this into an upcoming video. Hope you can hold off for a few days and I'll get on putting this together!
Thank you so so much Geo! Your video response is more than I could have ever asked for. I love your videos and I tell all my friends about your channel. Keep up the good work!
Pro tip! (And just the tip!) If you ever try to "manscape" down there or a shave your b@lls and navel with a straight. BE VERY AWARE ABOUT HOW YOU HOLD THE BLADE AND WHATS SURROUNDING IT AND HOW! Either plan on having a h@rd on or tape your junk to you're navel. 😂 . I cleaned up everything really nice with a combo of a old Boker and old Garland Cutlery straight, and as literally finished up on the undercarriage, I flopped forward and my tip fell on my sword! 😂. Gave myself a new pee hole! 😅 Actually it wasn't that bad. Shallow but sharp cut. Blade was so sharp I didn't even feel it. A pea sized amount of blood. A little Neosporin, two days of healing, good as new. 😂
geo, what are the differences between a pre shave oil and a pre shave cream? I've tried oil before but seems to clog the razor a little and i don't get a close as shave.
my mustache and chin hair in my goatee are very coarse, and I have a difficult time removing it without irritation. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions?
Hey, Geo. There is a new razor that just came out a week ago or two. It is the Wilkinson Sword Quad Blade Razor. It is essentially a safety/cartridge razor hybrid. Check it out on Amazon... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087CQ6TZV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
