Mikel Merino, Rodri, and Unai Simon were also a part of U-19 squad that won the Euro, 4 years before that U-21 triumph (2015), also with De La Fuente as a manager.
at the moment De La Fuente betray himself and change Fabian and Olmo for Gaby y Pedri, Spain will go back to loose on the quarters round of any competition
@@destructorestelargalactico7345 Exactly, Pedro and Gavi don’t have the craftiness, and chemistry Olmo and Fabian have with Rodri and the wingers. Chemistry and understanding was key to Spain playing well. Not just talent.
What people dont seem to notice about morata is his workrate which especially in this tournament surprised me in a positive way. It was most apparent in the England and France games in which he chased like every ball and gave his all in every Tackle which isnt something a classic striker is obligated to do in most cases. It really felt like he wanted this trophy putting in everything he had and im happy for him that it worked out
Reminds me of Miroslav Klose. He also was very reknown for always being reliable over the whole pitch, fighting for the Balls for other players, and often casually appearing as the one doing a vital, surprise saving action during an opponent's corner or something. Klose could always appear everywhere on the pitch, helping others, and did not just concentrate on scoring. And other than usual with the strikers, defenders would never complain about Klose helping them in the box (while other strikers typically are seen as a huge risk when appearing in their own team's box).
I didn’t think that Spain were gonna start winning trophies quite yet. However I’ve been confident that they’re gonna start dominating world football very soon after having watched the insane talents they’ve produced in recent seasons such as Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin, Nico, Balde and Cubarsi, as well as having established players such as Rodri, Olmo, Zubimendi and Ruiz who should still be able to contribute in coming tournaments
As spaniard, I enjoyed your video a lot and mate, you have super good jokes! You clearly understand the game and explained it perfectly, you have a new subscriber here! The only dettail is... Morata? I have critiized him a lot, you're right most of us think he sucks as a player but... Omg during celebrations he spent 20 hours `prasising teamaters and showing he is a leader and amazing captain, so no bad words against him anymore.
Morata is an excellent leader on and off the field for Spain and well deserved , he showed high defensive workrate as a 9 (Better than Kane, Ronaldo, Mbappe). Excellent communication with teammates, made unselfish runs to draw out defenders, good hold up play on long balls and linking play with Olmo, Ruiz, Yamal and Nico. Morata also scored key opening goal against Croatia. Campeones del Euro, Viva España!
@@chopsnz88 Yes, Morata has proven to be an amazing leader, but we didn't know, it was a super pleasants surprise, as player I don't think he has the skills to be on the national team but as a captin, we simply couldn't know he was such a leader, there were no situations ever we could see this, now we are happy seeing his cap performance(He introdocued all the 23 players giving great personals reviews/praises about every one of them, with a lot of humour, which is kind of a tradition since 2008 when Pepe Reina started doing it) pepe Made it during our golden era and the other day Morata did it, earning the respect of everybody, he was perfect.
I wish you said something about cucurella especially cuz Neville disrespected him before the tournament started. He's been the best LB of the euros and no one would have started him over Grimaldo
I agree with the commenter saying Pedri's injury was a blessing in disguise. As good as Pedri is, he's not a natural goal scorer. Even if he has the chance to shoot at goal his first instinct is to pass. All credit to Olmo making the most of the opportunity he got.
and the moment Gabi and Pedri are back again at the same time, we will see again the boring ten million passes game style that will let Spain fall in the quarters of any competition as usually
I enjoyed it thoroughly. There were some boring matches, but overall it was a great tournament. France had some stupidly boring matches as well as England.
I watched the first match of Spain and already knew they were going far in the tournament and interestingly I have only watched Spain and England matches in this tournament.
Have followed your content throughout and before the Euros, but love the format, narration and curation too much. Keep at it and keep raising the bar! ❤
When England get an average draw they will be out either in the group stage or round of 16. Nobody who watched that Euro could really believe England is a threat to win the 26 world cup.
@nonsoenwelim9731 wrong. England had to beat Switzerland and Netherlands, who were a bigger challenger than all the team in Spain's run apart from Germany
I hope it's the start of something. For one thing, they're better to watch than the 2008-2012 teams. Plus they won 100% of their games this time around. The 2008-2012 never managed that once in three attempts.
Very korekt👍. 2008-2012 was a good team but they also had luck on their side many times. Won some on penalty shoot out, Lost to Switzerland , Villa singlehandedly saved dem one time too many. Then imagine Robben was more clinical.
yep dude, im spanish, 2008 was a pleasure to watch, but the del bosque era was frustrating to watch many times, like they wanted to run with the ball inside the goal line. And the boring never ending passes
Ye it’s not like Germany really had a golden generation when they won they had a good group but arguably their most important part was their striker klose which was on the way to retirement
When Samu Omorodion becomes the spanish striker. Spain is going to be lethal. I am happy we get recognition. We have to chow down your hyped European teams!
Ha ganado sus siete partidos, cuatro de ellos ganando a campeones del mundo, y ha mostrado el mejor juego. Segun tu, de quien habia que hablar.. ¿de Serbia?
Morata was so overlooked in this tournament. He was such a key player to the success, his heat map must’ve been everywhere. If only he could’ve scored goals to get the recognition he deserves.
En Francia todos los jugadores son francesesde que hablas, bueno salvo Lucas Hernández. Además nuestra defensa estaba compuesta por dos hispano-franceses.
This is what tournaments will be like unless we can reduce the number of games. You can’t expect players to play 40-50 games a season and then be at top level for an international tournament
As I’m Scottish and we were in spains qualifying group for the euros, I was shocked to see Spain play how they did as they weren’t great during qualifying but I suppose getting there is all that counts. Still happy to be the last team to beat Spain 🏴 🏴
Tuvo un par de malos partidos durante la fase de clasificación para la Eurocopa ( justo cuando De La Fuente casi acababa de coger a la selección), pero luego mejoraron y terminaron primeros del grupo de clasificación….
here in ex-yugo area we all consider Dani Olmo as one of our own because of hi long time at Dinamo Zagreb. Me and my dad were so happy whenever he scored
This Copa America was the worst I've ever seen, at least in organizations terms. Conmebol keeps disappointing me, 2011 & 15 were the last really good ones.
Mark my words 2026 world cup winner WILL be spain, if they keep up their pace that they’re at there is currently no team that matches spain, or maybe germany but you can see how dominant spain is right now
The current English team resembles the Italian squad of the early 2000s, which featured world class forwards like Del Piero, Totti, Vieri, and Inzaghi They could develop under the right manager into a potential World Cup or European Championship winner in the near future.
To understand the whole Enzo Fernandez debacle you need to have follow the antics and chants that have been made for Argentina since the last World Cup. People just grab this poorly timed video uploaded by him and deem him and everyone racist, while it's not the whole picture. The chant makes reference to how every single player used by France in the final of the World Cup was originally not from french origins, but rather African origins. This is factual and true, even the Kenyan president made a reference to this in 2022. The chant is misfortunate and uneducated, yes, but it is not racist.
They don't understand the football folklore and don't want to understand it. They are hurt and victimized all the time under the figure of discrimination, when the reality is that a huge part of the French national team player are from african roots, and its nothing wrong about that jeez. It is like the saying, "You cannot cover the sun with a finger".
I think we are witnessing the beginning of a new dynasty. Lost in a penalty shootout in the semi-final in 2021, unrelated {sort of} lost the final in the Olympics right after the Euro in 2021, won the Nation's League, turn around a year later and win the Euro AND the Olympics. Now, I know some would say who cares about the Olympics, they have nothing to do with it. I beg to differ. These players on the u23 squad may very well be playing for the senior side before too long and them already winning a big tournament can only help to boost their confidence. I have been talking Spain up since they lost the SF to Italy in 2021 and I'm glad to finally see I wasn't wrong!
By no means that this is golden generation, Spain always had fantastic team as long as i remember but going into the tournament just many things clicked for them in same time, they have underwhelming defensive players but all them played great in key matches
Southgate is like the tennis coach who brings someone to the pros but is changed to get them up to the next level. Argentina no trophies in decades then 3 in a row.
❌Loosely player nationality rules made it easy to France to win the World Cup & would make it easy to Qatar & Saudi Arabia in the future to buy & nationalize players to win big tournaments🤏
Let me start this comment saying that the song our national team sang is wrong and the national team should apologize, but I would like to give a bit of context as our mentally as a culture in regards to racism. Firstly, in Argentina we have a culture of really messed up football songs (serch "escuchen corran la bola" for example) and, although it sounds like an excuse, singing this types of songs doesn't mean you agree with the message. Secondly, Arentina as a whole doesn't have a racism problem, of course there are clear cases of it, but it isn't the societal problem that represents in Brazil, US or Europe. There are many arguments to be made as to why this is. The real mixture between blacks, "aborígenes" and spaniards in the colonial period; the war against Paraguay in which the bast mayority of the casualties for the Argentinian side were afro-argentinians, this of course wasn't a coincidence but it resulted in a society with almost none "pure" black people while the majority of the country has as least some black blood, this is also the case in other former colonies of Spain like Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic. However I am not trying to say we argentines "don't see color" because it would be a lie, but as a society we have a classism and xenofobia problem. As example of the first in Argentina the use of the word "negro" in most cases is used to make reference to poor people regardless of the color of their skin. This explains why many of the players that now represent Argentina (like Enzo) have in the past been called "negro de mierda", as they come from poverty. Lastly, I wanna once again say that what the national team did was wrong, the fact that the fans sing something does not make it ok and the players should have known that.
Watched the 2021 final at home: England lost. Watched the 2024 final at home: England lost. If England make the WC 2026 final I'm going out for a long walk or drive to the middle of nowhere.
I like to listen to RU-vid uploads while doing other things, but I can't with this one. I know I would miss many Easter eggs if I don't watch. Damn it!
It seems UEFA is bending over backwards to help England win a trophy, granting the UK the hosting of the 2028 Euros. Statistically the Limeys have to win something sometime but home seems to be their only realistic shot. But if they select another Brit coach, even that scenario looks shaky.
I think the lowkey biggest story of the Copa America is this Canadian team that somehow managed to stay competitive against Argentina not only once, but twice, less than two months after their new coach arrived. New young players have blossomed, especially the two left backs Cornelius and Bombito, but also Koné (transfered to Marseilles during the tournament), Shaffelburg, and even goal keeper Maxime Crépeau who missed the 22 World Cup. We've never had a team this fun to watch in Canada, and it feels good :) I think this team will surprise people in 2026. The 0-0 friendly against France right before both tournaments was the start of someting beautiful. Also, that same stadium in Miami will host 6 WC matches in 2026, it's going to be a clustf*ck lol
might just be my opinion but Portugal has the best team and the one that underperforms the most, they are all elite player at the very top, all easily worth 100M in a transfer, but whatever having a "Coach" that replaces Leao is like.... whatever.
I am worried about lamine yamal thinking forward tho, we already have quite a lot of examples of young players at barcelona who played a lot in certain periods and then turned into injury prone players with minor to major injuries making them miss countless of games, confidence and possibly ruining careers. I just hope his body will take the strain a bit better.
The English supporters themselves quickly defenestrate the English team, but it is a great team full of stars and it must be taken into account as one of the candidate teams to win the next World Cup
