Alfa deserves to succeed, and this Tonale looks to be the ticket. Alfa's design language is outstanding, each model they currently offer stands out on their own, and I thought Sarah's review showed off perfectly how well these Tonale's are styled. Misano Blue looks fantastic on these as well.

We were going to get a Tonale, but after our Giulietta kicked the bucket, our dealer wasn’t very helpful during Golden Week… That made my wife mad to no end, so we ended up getting a Peugeot 308SW GT. Don’t regret the decision, but I was looking forward to having a Tonale and sticking with Alfa. Your reviews and maintenance videos are the best; definitely my favorite car channel.

Why would they toss them out - plenty of cars have them, and dealership technicians are trained by factory reps on how to correctly service them, including using the lift points. Maybe, a small dodgy workshop will, but when the customer comes to collect the car and does the sort of inspection a customer should do after servicing, the customer should ask 'where are the lift covers?' and with hold payment until the job has been properly completed to factory workshop specifications. Now, if ravencorvus is suggesting that they would toss them, then that's a workshop to avoid.

Except it´s part of the service, so they´ll charge you for the time it takes to remove and re-attach them...

@@Konszky That will be included in the book hours for the service. Dealships charge the hours according to the book, but how efficient the techs are, is how they make a profit - charge for an 8 hour job, but have well trained workers who can do it in 6. Correct jacking might be set at 15 minutes in the book, but an experienced worker will take 5.

It's one of those cars that allows you to get a "Green Vehicle" license plate with all the perks (by Ontario laws), and yet still lets you to drive like an ass using a gasoline engine. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea.

Plug in hybrids make a lot of sense for geographically large countries like the US, Australia, Canada etc. You can do your usual trips in EV mode and save gas, and still go for occasional long road trips with no charging issues.

"Time to give it the fagioli." Totally agree that a hybrid such as this Alfa is the way to go if you want to incorporate an electric drive train into your vehicle. Pure EV's just don't have all-around practicality due to their limited range and it looks like it will be some time before a mature technology is developed that will give them that capability.

if thy had paired the electric motors with the 280Hp 2.0L giulia/stelvio engine, it could have touched 400Hp combined. That mated with the ZF transmission (whatever they have for a hybrid system like this) , could have made it a monster fun car to drive. Hoping they bring a Quadrifoglio version of this thing :)

Sara the dash night light glows in the color of the car you get. I'm a wop who spent 3 weeks in a rented blue 1 and my buddies have them there. To be honest it doesn't pull like the 2.4 turbodiesel 159 I had rented in 2008 but now all cars are tofu instead of steak

In Europe, we get mild hybrid models with front wheel drive only. AWD Tonale models in Europe are in PHEV form only.

I'm surprised at how inexpensive this spicy meatball is, there are plenty of bland appliance crossovers that cost as much or more. Hopefully the quality and reliability are higher than Alfas have tended to be in the past. By the way, according to Google fagioli is Italian for beans 😀

From an actual Italian that is correct, “fagioli” is the word for beans. Also, the correct pronunciation for Veloce (which is Italian for “speed” or “fast”, and is a common moniker for high-trim Alfas) is “ve-LO-chay” instead of “ve-LO-say”. Sarah, you’re well on your way to becoming an “Alfista” (what Italians call Alfa enthusiasts)!
