We received these for the retail floor today so Luke grabbed them and we threw this quick impromptu review video together for any questions you have. Compared to a Staccato 2011 these feel just as good if not better in the hand!

Finally a review about the product itself and not 50 opinions about what someone likes and doesn't like thank you all the gun stores in Miami have them they're running about 1600 for the 5 in with no optic and they're not flying off the shelves

They are priced $1499 without red dot and $1699 with red dot….that’s MSRP for 4.25” or the 5”.

I bought both 4.25 & 5 inch models w/o optic. I took them to the range today and was greatly disappointed. First few rounds out of them felt great, then I had nothing but feed and magazine issues. I shot 250+ rounds out of both, I shot Remington, Federal, Winchester, Sig Elite, Sperry Gold Dot - 115g, 124g, 147g standard and +P, FMJ and JHP and it just did not matter. Out of the 500 rds through both, I had well over 150 fail to feeds. I also had the follower in the magazines get stuck half way and literally could turn the magazine over and rounds fall out. Felt like I was shooting a 22LR with rounds nose diving in the magazine but that was with both the 17 & 20 round mags. Took both back to the LGS and their gunsmith looked at them both and the videos I took showing the issues. They took the magazines apart and the follower was getting jammed in the mag tube, the mag spring was not very strong. The cleaned up the followers so they do not catch now in the mag tube but no change to be honest. I have sent Springfield 2 emails and waiting reply and the LGS is calling them on Tuesday after this holiday weekend to see what can be done to fix this problem. The 4.25 refuses to feed JHP out of any magazine I use, I can rack one in and FTF the next round every time. So for now they are expensive paper weights as I can not trust either one to run if I need it to. Biggest disappointment I have ever had with new out of the box firearms. I was so made I told them take them back and give me the Sig 229 Legion and X-Macro, I know they will run and be dependable. Amazing how all the "Gun Tubers" guns run flawlessly and you get one and issue after issue. Springfield has one chance to make things right or they are gone!

Hate hearing that. I hope Springfield is quick to take care of you and get these pistols fixed up or swapped. As the owner of a LGS we really take a hit when a product like this hits the market with so many issues because we end up the "go-between" and sometimes the frustration on both ends gets pointed at us. Not to mention all the payroll time spent on an issue caused by a manufacturer. I'm waiting with baited breath to see how Springfield handles this.

I won't buy one now but I can imagine all the aftermarket upgrade she'll be able to do that. Will bring this budget 2011 up to staccato level performance

@@MenOfArms it's reportedly under sprung... nothing a $10 wolf spring won't fix. Alot of Staccato owners actually feel the "P" is over sprung and swap ot out for a softer one.

What i am seeing on reviews is that guns sent out by Springfield to reviewers are running great. People who have purchased theirs not so much. So has Springfield hand picked guns to send out for reviews? I'm thinking yes

I spent a decent amount of time in the industry on the other side. I worked for a few manufacturers and know for a fact they do hand pick the demo units. It's one of the reasons I've never trusted RU-vid reviews unless they explicitly state the firearm was purchased.

lots regular reviewers have had abysmal results with their prodigy most of them being the 5" version. I feel really bad for some of them you can really see the disappointment in their faces.

The Prodigy itself has a rail, but the only other thing we can think of with a rail and similar capacity would be Rock Island's offerings.

That is CRAZY! There was definitely a time in the last couple years during the mass panic stage where supply and demand drove prices up in our store. For the most part though, we are almost never at MSRP.

I put one on layaway today without holding it 40 mins out from where I stay I got the 4.25 my question is can it be a conceal carry gun? Or is the 4.25 model too big

That is such a subjective thing. I wish I would have shown the setup I was using to carry my 1911 the day I made this video, because I can somewhat easily conceal a full size 1911 IWB and you can see I'm not the biggest guy. I fully believe this is a concealable firearm, but I would say a novice would have issue. On a scale of 1-10 for difficulty to conceal I would give it a 6 at least. So experience and time carrying would help a ton. - Luke

It is a relatively short gun. About as thick as a sig Sauer p320. A full size gun can concealed so this should not be a problem

It's sounding like the Springfield launch of this is turning into a huge flop with all of the issues I've been hearing about. Unfortunately, I bought into the hype and ordered a 4.25" that will be at my FFL on Tuesday. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a good one. If not, it's bye bye forever to Springfield.

I don't want to agree with you... but I do. With some of the issues coming to light as these hit the hands of the end user we will have to see if it's a mag issue overall as some suspect or if it's a firearm issue. Would hate to see this turn in to a recall for feed ramp and barrel swaps? Or god knows what else is causing the issues. I won't write off Springfield forever based off this, because I've been in the industry long enough I've seen every major manufacturer at this point have a product drop with issues that seem to only come to the surface with mass use and end user testing. I guess that's part of our "new normal" world, use the end user as your beta testing instead of large scale testing prior to release. (which irritates me to no end)
