Excellent review! Epson should be very happy with this review. Tell them to send a production one for a give-away contest ;-) 2 great points of your video that sold me on them: A - having non-tech ppl try them out - great reactions. B - Showing us the image we would see AND seeing everything else. Stunning. $900 US dollars is steep - but never having to take goggles off to address ppl - PRICELESS! Good job, Captain!
Wow!! Awesome video!! I'm re-thinking of getting the DJI goggle! Yes a couple of hundred dollars more but I don't need a spotter by law!! Thanks again Captain!!
Wow Steve those Epsons are awesome. I think one day they will be a nice addition to my drone accessories but at that price point right now I'd like to try enjoying more drones from different companies. I believe in the next year or so there's going to be a good amount of quality drones that I'd like to try first. Then maybe I sell a couple to purchase those awesome glasses.
I have both the moverio bt-300 and the dji goggles and love them both dearly for different purposes. On big bonus of having both is you can use them both at the same time so you and a friend could enjoy live immersive FPV together while exploring. The bt-35e looks a little more cumbersome to use in the field than the bt-300 since you don't need a phone/crystal sky with bt-300 !
Vracan, I've taken my Kids Flying, using the Old P4, Mavic PRO and the White DJI Goggles on Head tracking Gimbal mode. They Love the freedom or control to look where they want and the Camera points there. I can't wait to play with my new Mavic Zoom too. Where the Epson Moverios shine is for camera, DJI GO4, superimposed, picture in picture with your normal line of Sight for the Pilot. It's great that we are Spoiled for choices with Goggles, Glasses, display tablets and Drone models. These types of reviews are great to showcase new Technologies and the options available for those with the $$$$.
Wow. Good review. I have the DJI goggles but don’t use them much because of having to have a spotter with me to keep Visual Line of Sight. I like the head tracking mode with the DJI Goggles. Would I be right in thinking that these would not have the head tracking feature?
I tried the bt300. But found them uncomfortable to wear and I didn't like the contoller that set used. These look an improvement on the 300s. As just a viewing option without the control they use to have.
A great review CAPT Drone. These represent some nifty piece of technology that's actually been used in the aircraft maintenance industry recently. A little pricey but the tech is impressive. I am waiting like a hawk until the prices take a dip so I can snatch up a pair.
No lie bro, this was a good ass review. $899, US is mad high, but if I had the bread for the glasses, I would get it. DJI could learn from the old printer people lol.
Great review, Captain Drone, and a great looking family as well. With all due respect, Mrs. Drone is such a fabulous babe, (as they say...), a true delight for the eyes in league with those BT-35E's !
Dang, that's some sweet tec! Hope they will develop it further and in the end the price drops. Also the connection to other screens could be more elegant. But hey, still very cool.
Hi, I haven't been able to directly connect my BT-35e glasses to the Autel EVO ll Pro controller. I spent hours trying. However, I now have two different methods that work. The first is the obvious use of Live Deck that I have connected to the 2200nits Feelworld FW279 7" monitor that has an HDMI output. The second method is to use iPad Mini 5 Screen mirroring (or Android Miracast) to wirelessly go to a $20 AnyCast device. Initial setup is a PITA, but once figured out the wireless connection to the glasses is solid.
Your best review ever! Oh, and your wife is kind of cute! [big grin] Loved how you integrated all the "real" people into this review! Like I said, this was your best ever!
Have a mavic 2 pro can you tell me which epson glasses i should get as your video doesn’t compare the bt 300 to bt 35 e. . For instance are the bt 35 e a better quality imaging system or is it only one has a controller the other not, as the main difference.. I don’t have a crystal sky unit so i guess i wont be able to get hdmi out from the controller that came with the drone. What should I do please .
I just got a flyer about these and I can see where they are the thing but cost 1 kazillian dollars. I need to sell my car so I can get a set. Best reviewer on the internet. Great detailed report and review as always.
Wow, these would be great for even watching alternate tv programming while someone watches a different program on the tv. I wonder if they will have corrective snap on lenses where the sunglasses clip on so a person would not have to wear their glasses? Very nice review indeed.
Thank you for your review; it was clear and very informative. After watching all it entails to start using them, all I can say is: way too complicated. Most of my jobs are last minute assignments, that go to court within a day or two. Time sensitive require me to get in, and get out as fast as I got there. They look cool and I'm sure they work cool too, but these will not work when time is of essence. Hopefully Epson can make something that starts working as soon as your bird starts flying. For now, too many plugs and cables. Thanks again, and great job with the review! I'll be watching more.
So, you cannot connect them to the smartphone or Mavic controller without the little box, which is only supplied with the previous version of the glasses, right? So what's the point?
Captain! Nice set of glasses! Epson makes good products. I might get a pair sometime in the future. Again, love your reviews….looking forward to the next one! P.S. I purchased a Mavic 2 Enterprise, and love it! Maybe you can do a review on it sometime...
The Mavic 2 Enterprise looks interesting, but I just can't seem to find a use for it at this time so I don't believe it will end up in my collection of drones.
Hi , I appreciate all your video and I have a question for you regarding at MOVERIO SMART GLASSES! I need to know if can I connect them to the any smart device like thermo camera provided with the wifi connection. Regards, Giurgiu
Glad to see Tammi back on the channel. BTW #3... SkyZone HD Googles are smaller and can work with my Drones. The price of the BT-35E Glasses is more than the price of a good quality drone. Kinda pricey at $1200 for use with my drones. 5:54.. At only 1000 feet distance your drone is virtually invisible....let alone at a few kilometers. If they were the price of DJI goggles then the BT-35E Glasses would be interesting to get.
Very wise deduction... I'd get them as well. I bought DJI goggles that came with my Mavic Air, and they are great but at the cost of bulkiness and closed view.
Agreed, we have the BT300 and I can't understand why these are actually more for less? You don't get the controller so where is the cost going? If these were $350 we would be all over them but at $900 that is way too much.
The drone controller can be used to provide power if there is a spare port. If not, you'd have to provide the power from another device. The video display can be anything you want as long as the smart box can connect to an HDMI port or USB-C port.
Thanks Captain that was an awesome review....I have subbed to your brilliant channel and hope to learn much about all this.... as my channel can use all the help it can get :) may God bless
If I live and breathed DJI only drones, then the BT300 is the one because it supports all DJI. If I used many different products, drones, laptops, TVs, etc, then the BT35E would be great.
Captain what a Nice looking troop/Family Captain I want to wish You and Your Family a Happy Thanksgiving I not sure if it's any thing to you but I Thankful for the couple of people who I really trust! That's u Ser I Hope you have a good day Thanks for Everything
Thank you Charlie & happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I'm Canadian & we have the same Thanksgiving, but we celebrate it in the month of October (before the snow arrives) :-)
Thanks for the review. I can see they are slightly different to the BT-300. However, would you recommend one over the other? I’ve just received the BT-300 and find that they are very slow in downloading from the Moverio store. The controller also gets warm, even while just idling. Did you find this to be the case with your review sample?
Omar, I don't recall any real issues with the BT-300, other than getting used to them. The main difference with the BT 35E is that these glasses don't require an APP to run, they can just plug into most devices that have an HDMI port or USB-C video port. Also the design of how they attach to your head is a big improvement because it keeps the glasses very still on your head so the image looks clear with no movement from the glasses.
CAPTAIN DRONE, thanks for coming back to me. I’ve arrange to exchange mine for a new set. When I spoke with Epson, they advised that they shouldn’t get warm, but it can get very warm just in use without charging. I was tempted to just return them and purchase the BT-35e, as I like the idea of not being restricted to the Android controller that comes with it. But I use an iPhone, and as far as I know, there’s no way to output HDMI while connected to the Mavic, unless I’m missing something. Do you know of any way to use the BT-35 with an iPhone and Mavic? Thanks Btw, you just got yourself a new subscriber :)
Thanks for being you! You are always putting out videos. I can't keep up! Subbed to you! Question, Is the display in the glasses 3d or just like if your looking at your phone/tablet?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks for the info. I have the GearVR for my galaxy S9 Plus and I got that setup to work with the drone. That is 3D and it's crazy to try and fly with the gearVR headset on.
I connected my Epson Moverio bt-35e to my DJI Mini 2 using Samsung S10+ by connecting wireless display to glasses and using miricast to connect to glasses. I have to use power bank to supply power for glasses and Wireless Display but it works. I used J5Create ScreenCast HDMI/USB-A Wireless Display Adapter With USB Cable (JVAW56).
I have been, in the past, a strong advocate of the Epson BT 300. Augmented reality is much better than virtual-reality for the drone pilot. The real issue became the extra set up time and more things to carry around. Most video photography is done in short simple shots. Each shot is within visual line of sight. Each shot can be run with a simple intelligent flight mode. Tapfly and Point of Interest satisfy most needs. So now I subscribe to the keep it simple, low-cost solution of using my iPhone.
that's about what i presumed the cost is, they'd be fun to use on the Mavic, though after my Evo arrives, this advanced Buzz Lightbeer tool is next.. - keep yer rotors on Top..
I fly both the Mavic Air and the Mavic Air 2 using an iPad mini 5. If I were to get the Crystal Sky 5.5" monitor would I be able to use the BT-35e glasses with both drones and DJI go 4/dji fly boos. Thank you for any information
Hi thanks for your info.. can you tell me if the newer moverio glasses, the 40s, will still work plugged into a dji smart controller video out port.. i believe there is some short of usb master conflict with the newer usb c connectors on the 40… if so is there a work around please.
Great review Captain. I have a Mavic Pro and an Autel EVO. Any way to use these with the Autel EVO at this time? Would feel better about buying them if they could be used on a non DJI product as well.
Hey Captain ! Use the BT300 since a view month! After aligning the Bt300 properly on the head, is the pic quality better / clearer / cleaner on the BT 35E ? Or is it the same? FYI In bright sun light I tested Cristalsky 7.85 1000nit , Galaxy Note 8, IPhone 7, they all give you bad reflections like a mirror so its difficult to see anything ! But the BT 300 is free of reflections when wearing a cap! The Pic is very contrasty! So the BT 300 won, even the resolution is only 1280x720 as it is also on the BT35E, but this is secondary !
I'm told by EPSON that people may find the image better on the BT35E because of how the glasses secure to the head (more stable). But, I do believe it is the same image.
The Price point is a no brainer for commercial operations even with that price point. Yet maybe they would consider making a version for drones for the pro consumer market! Thats my view! thanks great video
Dear Captain, I’m DJI CrystalSky User. Moverio BT-35 is more useful & easier to use for DJI Drones(Especially Mavic 2 Pro,Zoom,Air,Inspire 2…) than Moverio BT-300? I ‘d like to use to fly Drones ,with CrystalSky & BT-35E easily than Moverio BT-300 touch pad inconvenience. Could you check my question and reply, please?
Hello Captain. I love all your videos. I have a cuestion. I have the Evo2 and the tablet Tripltek 6gb is the normal version., and i wanna buy the epson moverio bt35e so i need to know if i can used this glasses with mi equipment. Thank you very much. And please keep doing nice videos like this. 🤗❤️👍
Hey awesome review! Just want to clarify - you used the BT-300 which had a touch pad to control the device! But the BT-35E has no controller but can only mirror the connected device, is this right?
how good are the colors of projection? do they look as good as a real monitor infront of you or are they washed out to some degree like projections usually are?
From my old eyes the image/colors was anything but washed out. It all depends on the background and how your brain processes the image. As soon as your brain filters out the background all as perfect. The sun shades help with this.
I think they should be for fpv because you're supposed to keep an eye on your drone at all times and that that allows you to I just wish they was a little cheaper I've been looking into a set myself just can't afford the price so going to wait until it's cheaper
Hi Steve, thanks for the nice video. I had the BT300 for my Spark. I found out a large disavandtage: namely the picture was to small, not zoomed in enough, so you don't get the same experience as using fpv goggles. May be for the Mavics it is different, did you hear of this issue? Thanks Ton
It could be due to eyesight. I find the image to be a nice size for my eyes. I think (I could be wrong) that these glasses have the similar technology to the BT300, however with the new design to hold them on your head, people report that the image is larger and clearer.
I bought a pair, but I'm not happy with the image quality. I feel I strain trying to read text and the sides are blurry. I adjusted the bridge pads in various ways but could not get a sharp image (tried both 2d and 3d settings). My IOD is 65mm which is within design spec. It could also be due my farsightedness (-1.75). Thinking of returning it.
Great review, thanks. At 10.08 you note that the glasses camera needs an app and does not currently function for drone users (at the time you posted the video). Are you aware of any apps that would allow the use of the camera for a drone user? For example, on one job I had to fly the drone through a trail with vegetation on both sides and above to give the viewer a sense of walking the trail, no problem. But, I also wanted to record video for marketing purposes that showed the drone flying through tight spots. My current solution was to have another person use a GoPro to capture that video.
Hi, I seem a bit late to the party but I definately want a pair of Moverio's. I own a Mavic 2 Zoom and a pair of DJI RE Goggles but am limited as to when I can use them because of VLOS laws ( I can't always persuade my brother or friends to watch my drone). This seems like a good solution. I wonder whether these BT-35E's would link up nicely to the tripltek 8 pad?
wait it has a projection on both sides so how does that work is it 2 seperate images or does it morph it into one somehow making it look bigger ?? :-/ also this or vuzix blade? whats your opinion
I have no idea what those other products are you mentioned. As for how this works... well, you have two eyes so if there was only one projector on one side, you'd only get an image on one side, so two eyes, two projectors. Your brain sees only one image.
