OMG, finally someone took this car to the next level. The GTO and Trans Am should never die. And always be preserved for our coming generations to upgrade and keep this legacy going. So thankful for these guys xant wait to see more....
Greatest part of this video in my opinion is the fact that these guys are following their childhood dreams and not many of us could ever make that claim. I wish them all the success in the world. IMO, that is what American muscle should look like.
Love them T-Tops!! They are a pain at times, yet worth it! Excellent Muscle car. Yes I love the Mustang. Hopefully will buy a top end Mach 1, 2022 or 2023 ... unless the world ends, early!
I had a '67 Bird with the Sprint 6 OHC w/4 bbl Qjet. I spun the bearings in her, so completely dismantled the engine, right down to hot tanking, .030 overbore, new pistons/rings, turned the crank I believe it was .010 under, hand assembled everything, balanced and printed her to the best of my ability using about a gallon of STP along the way (lol). When I got it all done, I figured she was running about 250 cubes. I broke her in real nice, magnetic oil plug, oil changed at 100/500/1000/3000 miles. Took her out on I94 south of Eau Claire, WI, my home. The cop said he scoped me at 137 mph. He wasn't much older than I was and asked if he could see under the hood. Long story short, I went home without a ticket but a great memory and a new friend. Remember, this was 1974. I sure miss that little Ponchoand would give my left you-know-what just to have the bird above. Evven for a day. Thanks for letting me share one of my best days. Stories? I got a bucket full!!
@@floridaboy3539 Junk you say? Pontiac made some of the most iconic cars which means you don't know jack about what your saying . For starters they made the GTO, Trans am, and Fire Bird. Later model Pontiac's came with the 3.8 liter v6 one of the most reliable engines ever made an was called the engine of the millennium. So why then did they stop making them simple the 3.8's last way to long an GM overhead sucks at it's job.
I’ve owned 2 Pontiac’s, a Trans-Sport van when my kids were little, and I bought a 95 Formula for my son as his first car. I’m a Pontiac fan! GM killed the wrong division.
@@floridaboy3539 pontiac was literally one of the best vehicles made by GM. you are a misunderstanding how these cars are built if you think the other gm are any dif.
I guess maybe they could bring it back if they dropped Buick or GMC but tbh modern GM cars are very plastic-ey i mean in my personal opinion when i get up in the morning and look at my 89 Caprice and 95 Camaro and see a Chevy Malibu or a Kia pass by they all have the same DNA but looking back at my Caprice with the chrome bumpers and chrome trims everywhere and hear that Small block i honestly don't see myself jumping into the new school unless i wanted an economy car to use as a daily and even with economy i might get an old Tercel it's not a GM but you know what i mean only thing i like about modern cars is how you can connect your music easily lol, Plus i dont think GM have the cojones to do something crazy they could many things with the Buick like bring back the Skylard and compete against the Dodge Challenger of course they thought about it but i guess the market wants more of the Kia DNA and that's what they are doing i mean look i heard they got a 4 cylinder Mustang imagine pulling that back in the 60s-90s lol
I ordered my Trans Am from the factory in ‘77 with the TA 6.6, manual 4-speed and “Hurst Hatches” t-tops in the dark brown w/gold hood eagle/pinstripes and “German” style lettering decals. Soon after “Smoky and the Bandit” hit the movie screens and everyone was buying the black TA’s. So thankful I had went with the dark brown metallic. It was a sunny June day when I first rolled down the main street of the small town I grew up in Wisconsin, and I can tell you that EVERY head, young or old, turned when I cruised by at 20 mph in 1st gear, with the sun shining through the open hatches and the priceless looks on people’s faces as I drove past. I can only say it was a moment in time I’ll never forget!
Have a specially ordered '79 T/A purchased from Crown Pontiac in St. Pete. Putting in a Pontiac 400 .030 over with a Turbo 400 on the back, 380 gears in the rear. I'm keeping it till death. Too much fun !!!
I'm a female who worked in a customs shop for 17 yrs. I've owned 22 Camaro's, and 2 firebirds, and 1 mustang in my time on this earth, I still have 2 camaros and 2 Trucks. I'm a Camaro gal thru and thru. But this Car, Gave me chills, and makes me want to go out and play with my 69 SS 396. What I would do to own one of these. But yes I'm aware they are already all claimed. It's probably a good thing only 50 are being produced, can you imagine all the dead rich fools we would have if they released these to production for more then the 50 ordered. This is one bad ass Car, coming from a forever Camaro Girl.
You could always replicate the drive train and drop it in something else, cut a hole in the hood and add a shaker...a few extra custom gauges and that'll get you the same general experience of piloting a street able yet very excessive horse power and torque. That would be an exhilarating trip to the grocery store 😆
I have to admit that blue car is stunning. Love the looks as it really looks like an evolution of the 77-78 cars. The exhaust looks good, the wheels are great! And that sound! All good!
Thank God these guys exist and had the love and dedication to keep this iconic big block Pontiac alive and kicking!! I think I just found my fountain of youth in this Trans Am! I've always been team Pontiac from my teenage years now 50 I definitely want this vehicle! The Camaro is it's sibling rivalry but Trans Am always had that something extra & for some reason always out performed it's Chevy twin in acceleration! Again I appreciate these guys and the passion they have for Pontiac! Doing what GM should have done & kept this bad boy alive!! Thanks for giving me a chance of getting my youth back and keeping the legend alive!! Awesome job guys much love respect & success!!👍🤠 Yeee hawww
I owned a 1974 Trans Am with 455 HO. Unbelievable power even with all the emerging EPA restricto devices. Wish I had a bit of foresight and had never sold it.
I was at the New York Auto Show that year! And I was fascinated with the new Trans Am! It didn't look like it was reimagined at all (which is a good thing if you wanna keep a certain style) That blue is beautiful
@@juelz9225 and Ash I think the reason is Buick does relatively well in China, go figure. With all the manufacturing jobs and steel jobs that has left the U.S. and Europe, China has a increasing middle class, Buick seems to do well there. I wished GM would have sold Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn into private hands here in the States instead of killing them off.
I enjoyed watching this program and how you worked this car.I’m 72 years old and I owned a 1972 Trans Am.Brewster green with saddle interior. I loved that car. Good luck and good driving.
Seen this brought tears to my eyes saying that even though this new day of age, when all the muscle cars are coming to an end, people are still out there, bringing the old cars back to life and making them new and seen the super duty with that thousand horsepower piece of art and seen that thing ripped through gear after gear after gear and still spinning. Those tires put a huge smile on my face and honestly made me cry it’s beautiful😍😭💯
At first I was like....... I can't wait until I get The NEW 2020 FORD Shelby MUSTANG GT500. But now after I watched this video like a Dozen times. I've got to have that NEW 2017 Pontiac Firebird 455 SUPER-Duty Trans AM. It's a SERIOUS must HAVE in my LIFE. THANK YOU Gentlemen for showing the other Automobile Companies how American Muscle Cars suppose to look, sound & perform. So on that note. Go ahead and take a SERIOUS bow. Because You GUYS deserve it.
I don't think you realize that this car costs over $120k. Production vehicles also have to pass emissions and building cars like these would make that pretty damn difficult and on top of that, drive to price up to where average working men can't afford them. I like where modern muscle is nowadays.
Growing up on Long Island NY I remember a neighbor who had the original 1969 Pontiac TransAm and a 1973 455 SD TransAm both in White. Those were the days! This new car looks great and brings back many childhood memories of people and places. I remember the 1973 455 SD well...even 45 years ago with the crappy tires of it's day, it still managed 0-60 times as low as 4.9 sec.
I am so happy to see the Firebird/Trans Am reborn into this beautifull creation. The styling cues are trun to all the past versions that really makes it a true to the original, from the first version to the last. I love what you created.
@jrzezIt's They already did it. It's already happened. Look up the 2019 IROC-Z Camaro. You can buy one starting July 1st, 2019! I already know I'll be in line. I'll be posting a video when I get it home!
It's a show stopper and it gives me chills. The T-tops, Phoenix on the hood, tail lights, modernized snowflake wheels and that sound could stop the earths rotation as nature herself gasps.

I’m a 60+-year-old man and never in my life cared for the Pontiac Trans Am. Today this moment my opinion has changed. The Trans Am super duty is the most fascinating and gorgeous Car I’ve ever come across. I need to get more information and facts about it but clearly would like to own one. Great job!!!
Awesome car. I would love to see how this would evolve into a production car. As it is, it seems really conceptual and more like a resto mod type creation where the nostalgia is so big that the details attemping to be brought back to life are too literal and not abstracted and evolved. I love what they have done. Would love to see more funding and developement to see what a trans am would have evolved to be.
As an owner of a 2017 Camaro 2SS, I can really appreciate the detail and work that this team is pouring into their design. The cost difference between the Firebird and my car is worth it to some people because this is truly custom, unique and rare. Nice job!
You guys did an amazing job with this car, if I ever hit the lotto I am definitely buying one and putting it on my channel with lots of burnouts hahaha. Great job guys.
This is the best and most American thing ever. That exact body is the most beautiful so far. The Bandit 1 was just so awesome but this is near perfection. That body, that engine and a bandit trim would be just perfect.
I honestly believe that even if Pontiac was still making the trans am today that the ones you guys are making would still be far superior. Great job I'm a huge fan of t tops and I love the fact you guys are keeping them alive as well
Absolutely no comparison as ive owned 15 Camaro an trans ams an the specs vision an part of the new HD is got 2 be as close as an car could be to perfection .awesome. luv the standards u have set down .
As someone who's always perfered Firebird over Camaro and never cared for the new retro camaro I love how you took the new camaro and made what has to be the perfect firebird. Thank you for this. RIP Burt Reynolds 🙁
kdjz68 you're right on that. GM bailout came during a massive economic expansion in China. Chinese can't get enough of Buicks, and their export sales skyrocketed. GM brass tried to make a case to the government for saving Pontiac, but in the end it came down to numbers. It was a decision made from the wallet and not from the heart. PS. I heard that GM's plan for Pontiac was to make it like a domestic version of BMW... mostly rear drive cars like the G8 and what became the Cadillac ATS. Too bad.
Me and a friend in 5th grade, every time we heard that TA rumble, we'd rush over to the windows to watch it fly by and we both made a pact that one day we'd both own one. Not sure who had there's first, but in the Army around 1987 I picked up a '76 4 speed with a 454 SD that did low 12's at a 1/4 mile track in Hawaii. Two much power for that 20yr old and I wrapped the rear left quarter around a stainless steel light post. Rear windshield blew inward at the back of my neck, popped the driveshaft out, punctured the gas tank and shifted the chassis by 3 inches. My friend bought an '80 model after getting hit on the head with a brick and suing the pizza place he delivered for. He ended up selling years later to cover his business expenses. When I got off active duty in 1990, I bought a '79 10th anniversary limited edition Bandit style off my towns retired police chiefs daughter. Kept it riding proud and turning heads for 17 years, everybody and there brother wanted that car. Cops pulled me over every opportunity I handed to them on a silver platter and because they all thought the police chiefs daughter still owned it. Due to bills an unfortunate divorce and a blown heater coil pissing all over the floor board, it ended up in storage for the past 14 years. Now the rusted hulk with a rebuilt 403 sits in front of my house under cover waiting for my decision to junk it, part it out or give my last gallon of blood for one final dance. As a disabled retired OIF combat veteran, ex-mechanic, the odds aren't in favor. I figured maybe picking up a few new tools and watching some vids, hearing that engine roar to life again might be worth an effort. Thank you for the awesome vid :-)
I had a blueprinted 455 in the 78 one of my all time best rips was coming off a side rd at a stop sign on to a 2 lane uphill across from 3 bars in upstate NY...must of been a clam bake or golf tourney.. I rollled backwards w clutch in from the stop sign let that clutch go and lit them tires up that firebird kicked sideways every MF on that st stopped as I ripped thru the gears I swear I flew up that hill sideways for a half a mile probthe best burnout of my life....I tell you legendary armhair raising moments....use to run 100 octane with a quart of lead every tank....picked up more tail in that car than any other car/bike I ever owned!!!! Sold it payed for my daughters braces + college
You guys are amazing. The trans am by far is my favorite vehicle. The 73 formula sd 455 is just so beautiful. Hopefully one day I can buy on n of your cars . Mine would need t tops though lol. Great job this is just amazing! Good job keeping the trans am alive!
Coming from Immigrant who immigrated in 1999 and when i saw actual Trans Am i was hooked, Chevy Iroc Z was also my dream car, i grew up seeing Iroc z and trans am on bubble gum Turbo if you know what im saying, but when i actually came to US and saw one in person it was the sexiest car i ever laid my eyes on, now i own 02 Viper and living a dream, Long live the Trans Am, please bring back the vanished monster and American Idol, We should be proud of our idols like Trans Am, Iroc Z, even vanished Viper now days, Mustangs, Pontiac always sounded pure AMERICAN when i was growing up in Europe.
I was second owner of 1967 LeMans it was dark blue with light blue interior with 326 engine the windows all had a very light tint of blue also come to think of it.My dad bought it new in 1968,with the Long Island NY weather it didn't take long for it to rust. The damn thing was one of the most dependable cars I've ever owned.I love Pontiacs
Dont forget grand prix iam a Ford guy but really miss variety of pontiac Oldsmobile Buick each had they're on cool car with extras loved it. Wish they would make affordable transam
The new look is growing on me, although it did take a while. If Buick was smart, they would work with you guys and use that same engine to bring back the GSX 455 Stage One. Or an updated Grand National, either one would suffice. I appreciate all the hard work all of you do to bring these once in a lifetime gems to us. I just need a winning lottery ticket. THAT is a tall order.
Stevo 1975 I 100% agree with you. I'm doing a restomod on a 1970 GS 455CID STAGE 1,4SPEED. ALL DONE, IN &OUT. Trying to get a natural aspirated engine from these outstanding builders. $$$
Contact Nelson Racing Engines if these guys are booked. They build an LS7 topped with a 4.0 Whipple supercharger that puts out 1400 horses. Big bucks for it though.
Hell yes...this bandwagon is hot right now. The era of people who are passionate about these things is not going to last much longer. Make this happen...let's see a Grand National. You guys are Gods, and can make it happen. Or dare to actually make a new Ford Lightning.
Had one when I was young but didn't know what I had ,now at 59 yrs old if college tuition wasn't an issue I'd love to have one this is a great idea and a beautiful vehicle.
These are the most Epic Awesome Perfect performance and styling hot rods EVER!! That black Bandit is Amazing but that Blue HeavyDuty 455 with the black interior!! Omg I could die a happy man in that thing!! Pure Perfection!! Could you imagine!!?
No different than back in the day, man. People used to wreck and roll those bastards all the time. Logic should dictate that any vehicle with 1000hp is by no means intended for a novice driver.
I absolutely LOVE that new style. I've watched the drive episode like 10x. My dream car, well one of a few trans ams. I really want an Outlaw like nobodies business. Just seeing this new trans am brings tears to my eyes. I'd love to see one in person.
